I'm getting too old for this shit.

@Null at the end of the day you don't owe us shit, if the site isn't what you want, and nobody else is willing to take it on, then can it. Some of us will miss it, a ton of whiney pissbabies will make noises about how they "beat" kiwifarms then promptly forget it existed when the next thing to get all twisted up about comes along and you can get on with your life. The only thing obliging you to keep going is your own pride.

Null, just let me start by saying that I hope you manage to start your family, it will be the most important thing you do in your life if you actually manage to pull it off.

Regarding the site in general, I personally enjoy the site. To me it is still a refuge I can visit at anytime and find some laughs, and I would miss it deeply should it go down. But it has changed....
As the internet becomes a hive for left wing extremism, it was only a matter of time before this place became a hold-out of right wing ideology, given the "chan culture" roots of the place.

Kiwi Farms is one of the few places left where you can speak your mind without getting banned by a bunch of SJW's. I know you dont want the forum to be exclusivly hating on SJW bullshit, but the work you have done, and continue to do here, has value to a lot of people all over the world.

I am also sorry no one is really helping you out, except for Masterson and a few mods. I give you BAT every month, it's not much, but it's the only way I can help financially.

Please hang in there and don't give up on free speech!

Hey Null. I'm a very new user and I was literally wondering the other day when something like this was going to happen.

I hope at least some of the following thoughts will be immediately practically helpful to generating revenue for the site.

Monetisation:

While the site is still going, I'll say this: one thing I have noticed is that this site is monetised really poorly. I don't mean ads. I mean that I had to really dig through this site to find out how to support the forums, and I had to have the idea "hey I should support this forum that can't be cheap to run" all on my own. (Now am in the middle of learning how to use bitcoin so I can do so.) You should be signposting that shit, dude. Front and centre. Once I got to the part where it explained how to support you, I had to wade through 26 pages of forum posts in case the initial post wasn't up to date. Someone needs to be keeping that shit up to date. I know it's not easy to support your site, so you need to make it as easy as possible for potential supporters to access information or you will lose some. "Read the fucking thread" is fine elsewhere on the site but in this case it's just dumb.

I also had no idea you had a podcast that you could make some money off of. You have your own website, fucking advertise it front and centre. If people complain, ask them if they want to pay your bills.

Maybe all this is signposted on desktop version of the site but I'm a mobile user and i guarantee you most users are too. It doesn't show up for me.

A wild and crazy idea- perhaps you could make this site a paid members-only place. (Eg People can create a basic tier account which can submit information about a person of interest to a wiki page etc but to comment or speculate or participate in the community they must message you with a certain amount of bitcoin before being granted access. paying for an account also means higher personal stakes in the success and quality of the site.)

For extra personal money, I'd consider trying to sell your story and the story of kiwifarms to a publisher as a tell-all book. Maybe contact a literary agent first, they'll know how best to spin it. If accepted, you would get an advance probably of a few thousand dollars max, then royalties if your book sells lots more than the advance covers.

After that's done, change your name, start again.

Feelings and musings and other shit:

I'm really sorry you feel like this. Must be a lonely fucking life. I admire your dedication to continuing this site for as long as you have but if you need to stop, you need to stop. I agree, you can't live in limbo forever. You don't owe it to anyone to be a martyr for the cause. Maybe saying that is a bad thing for society at large, but as someone who was one for a long time (in a very different arena), I don't care. You have the right to find and pursue what makes you happy. If your efforts to fight for that right appear to be going nowhere, and are making you *un*happy, why continue? Pull your weight for society but don't pull everyone else's. There's a middle ground. And you have to find it or you'll kill yourself. I don't think I'm exaggerating.

I think aside from documenting the lolcows, this site has done a lot of what can only be called actual good: it has been amazing in categorising people who have been really terrible criminals (eg the pedofurs, zoosadism, etc) and also documenting the Weeb Wars false accusations drama to such an extent that Vic Mignona's legal team was able to rely on it. It will be sad to see that go. If you shut kiwifarms down perhaps there will be a way to retain that aspect of the site.

But ultimately, do what you need to. You have definitely done your time and more.

One thing is for sure, the internet is changing. Perhaps not for the better. Perhaps we can change that. But the flow of the change is not something you alone can direct. It would be a good idea to document how you ran a website like this so that others can follow in your footsteps and don't have to make all the mistakes you did, and feel more confident about it. That will help you to feel like you are contributing to the future as well.

I haven't read the whole thread yet so if I am repeating anything that has already been said ad nauseum I will come back and edit it out.

29 pages of advice. The bottom line is that the users of this site aren't funding it's upkeep.

People like to laugh at something awful, but the furries trannies and what not, actually make it worthwhile to keep the site up.

No payment processor will host it and users will be wary of it anyway due to giving out personal information

Go get you an Italian BMT with extra banana peppers and cheer up. You're hot and you could always sell feet pics.
The farms means lot to me. It's my second home. It's one of the last places where I can say whatever the hell I want, and that means something to the world.

We lurve u Joshy Boy.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to start a family, but it seems more like you're idealizing the idea of a "trad lifestyle" into this universally great life-affirming symbol of the Normal Life that you've never had rather than being realistic about what it'd actually look like in practice. And that's just a recipe for disaster.

Another monetisation idea: start selling other unrelated stuff at a highish price on amazon etc. Eg farmers can buy a mug with a random saying on it on redbubble, or a 1000 word essay you wrote on something on amazon or a digital fanart download on etsy. it is a legal transaction but what they're really buying is a donation to the site. So you have a $5, $20, $50 option on an etsy and it might just be shitty art of a kiwi bird but that's not what people are buying.

At the end of the day, yolo. You gotta do what makes you happy even if it will make others unhappy. Never live for other people.

Originally there was going to be a much longer post here in which I attempted to relate to your struggles but I deleted the paragraphs I wrote because a lot of it was self-pitying bullshit, and fuck that noise. Long story short, I feel you on the site not being fun anymore. I sympathize with the feeling of wanting to start a family and leave a legacy. And I have said over and over again that even though we hold very few views in common, I have great admiration for your dedication to protecting the freedom of speech, a principle that has become increasingly endangered as the internet becomes both homogenized and sanitized due to increasing corporatization.

I feel like I owe you some kind of debt, as weird as that might sound. I wish there was a way I could express my thanks for all of the shit you've gone through just to keep this site afloat, even as I've grown increasingly fed up with what it's become. There's still those few threads I check in on regularly that keep me anchored here. This site has provided a haven for people to speak their mind on some catty bitches who will run people off of larger platforms for crossing them and allow those people to laugh at these bitches and for that, I am grateful. I think that's why I've stuck around for as long as I have.

Whatever you decide to do, just know that I thank you, Null, for putting up with all this shit when more sensible people would have thrown up their hands and given up ages ago. You do what you gotta do to protect your own peace of mind.

Thank you.

But fr if anyone is coming to KF to talk about politics or general topics they're retarded. There are so many other alt-venues.
I am gonna have to disagree on this, if only because the people here are so anal about archiving and dredging the internet you get information that you wouldn't ever find in normal places.

While we're talking about money, like a few other people have already suggested... Another merch run at some point? I know they're a pain in the ass to get off the ground, and the profits might be paltry at best, but it'd be neat. There's a lot of $olidarity in this thread.

You're too new to understand any of this, but every monetization option that has been tried has been killed by detractors.

Ads? Deplatformed
Patreon? Banned
Hatreon? Removed from Platform (let that sink in)
Browser miner? Removed from the pool and blacklisted
Paypal? Permanently blacklisted
Multiple merch runs? Banned, cancelled, blacklisted, money held in purgatory
Run his own Patreon type thing? Blacklisted by payment processor
New Project 2? Detractors removed payment processor

As someone eloquently put it in another thread, at this point in time, it's easier to literally launder drug money, than it is to give money to KF free and clear.
