I just want fun gameplay with good pacing, story can be shit for all I care as long as I can skip it. But is troubling none of the leaks I've seen so far go over gameplay in any depth,

Of course not. These all mostly just seem like marketing and leadership slides. Especially with how far in advance some of these projects they are talking about are, they aren't going to have anyone working on them yet except maybe like a creative director, marketing, and leadership. My guess is that the Wolverine game (since that's the next one) has had a few more people working on it, mostly just a small core group trying to figure out how the game actually will play, and then after the Spiderman 2 launch most of the their team swapped focus over there. Their ship plan has it still almost two years away so even if there would be gameplay there's a decent chance it would all change.
One thing to know about western AAA game dev at this point (I won't comment about Japan since I don't know how stuff rolls over there) is that since it is such big business games aren't created in a bottom up method. There is no, we had a cool idea for a game, let us pitch it to a producer to get us some money. All of these games are created by the marketing, leadership, and creative directors coming together with the publisher and external partners to figure out a high level of what the game will be and then thrusting that vision upon the rest of the dev team to try and build it into something real. I mean it can work if there's a competent vision, but it is why almost every western AAA game just feels like boring slop.

This timeline is depressing. I may be having a boomer moment but man were the 90's so good. We got a new Final Fantasy game every Christmas. EVERY CHRISTMAS. I'd rather play a 480p masterpiece then wait 10+ years for some new globo-homo bullshit.

Probably because she has a different feel than Logan’s powers (Ranged energy attacks vs. melee slashing/stabbing attacks). I will say, I did enjoy the animation test video with the Banana Splits theme in the background, felt like a good shitpost! I’m betting that Venom game is gonna be some full priced, under-developed download-only game you can beat in 5 hours. I wish they’d just announce if there was gonna be ANY DLC already…

Makes sense, but Jean just feels like the wrong choice. They should of chosen Cyclops and went with a buddy-cop theme for this slop.
I'd say have Magneto as a third partner opposed to Cyclops and Logan to tag along with. I mean, it may sound better than having Jean tag along with. She just doesn't fit

Only problem with Magneto (and Jean) is that you're essentially playing in god-mode, considering how powerful both of them are.
Either way, it's pathetic that a company with so much material to work with manages to fuck up this much.
