I've seen people complain the emulation is bad. If that's the case, the only thing left is the controllers. How are the controllers? They launch PS1 quality?

They are wired so as far is know the main issues are the emulation and how awful the selection of games is

The thing that people don't remember about the original PS1 controller is how fucking light it is, it weighs absolutely nothing. Just a guess but there's probably plenty of people complaining about it feeling "cheap" because of that, but it seems to be identical.

It was already hacked

Sadly it require you to solder to get mass storage working

The entire process but be warned is in weebonese, still all that process when you could just simply play the damn thing in your computer or using alternatives, unless you want to use the fancy case is not worth all you have to do to make it work
At this point, you might as well print out a PS1 shell, get a powerful microcomputer, and then jam a bunch of games into it.

Another video with a more in deep explanation about the thing, apparently someone dumped the BIOS in Github and somewhere in the lines there where tons of games that were not totally crap inside of the mini but Sony decide to remove it

The games were (as far as i can see)

Arc The Lad 1 & 2
Armored Core
Armored Core Master of Arena
Chocobo Dungeon (or Racing the line only say Chocobo)
Colin Mcrae Rally
Cool Boarders 2
Crash Bandicoot 1&2 (jajajaja considering Racing remaster was announced they must be pissed by now)
Destruction Derby
Toy Story 2
Driver
Ergheiz (That fighting game of Square that looked like Tekken, had a weird dungeon crawler and you could play as Cloud)
Fighting Force
Grand Theft Auto 2
G-Darius (One of ZUN favorite games, pay your respect to you bullet hell god)
Gradius Gaiden (One of the best Gradius when Konami was not busy being edgelords with Metal Gear)
Harry Potter and The Philosopher Stone
Kagero
Klonoa Door to Phantomile
Kula World
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Medievil
Mr Driller G
Megaman Legends
Medal of Honor
Parasite Eve
PacaPaca Passion
Parappa the rapper
Raystorm (a excellent shooter, there is a PS3 HD Remaster if you dont want to play the original, is a part of 3 games i heavily recommend it)
Saga Frontier
Suikoden (fuck you Sony)
Silent Hill
Spec ops Stealth Patrol
Street Fighter Alpha and EX+
Tomb Raider 1 & 2
Tomba
Vagrant Story (Dark souls before it was cool)
Wild Arms 2
Xevious

>lfw no Einhander one of the best games Square did for the PSX fite me

And probably others i did not notice but goddamn this selection is infinitely better, could not find the dump of the firmware in Github but found that the guys in Retroarch are already making the PS mini controllers compatible, at least it was not a total lost (?)

G-Darius (One of ZUN favorite games, pay your respect to you bullet hell god)

I've wanted to play G-Darius since I played the demo, but never saw it in the wild. The soundtrack is really good, especially the boss themes.

As for the list. I guess now fans have a list for a true PS1 classic if they ever make it. I agree with what someone said in the comments, that in January these will hopefully be cheap.

Maybe it was just left off your list, but the lack of Resident Evil and Parasite Eve games continues to raise eyebrows for me. RE2 is 2 discs and the later ports were better, so I can understand why it didn't make the cut. Parasite Eve 2 was also 2 discs, but since Parasite Eve 1 never got an EU release it would be a great selling point. But the lack of RE3 makes no sense especially since they chose RE1 Directors Cut.

Yeah the lack of Parasite Eve and Tomb Raider were the most weird choices that Sony made, about RE it probably was Capcom did not want to give permissions for 2 considering the remake is around the corner, dont know what Square is doing with Parasite Eve, even a remaster would be nice at this point but The Third Birthday pretty much killed the franchise, Square could have put a lot of their games there, not ChocoboDungeon/Racing but at least Final Fantasy Tactics

Im surprised that jumping flash is even on this system. Barely anyones heard of it.
Also no blasto so this automatically sucks.

I really don't see the appeal of these nostalgia consoles. Why would you pay 100 dollars to plug another thing to your tv that does basically nothing except maybe play a handful of titles not available in the PS store (and even then you could just pirate them)?
Some people actually think pirating is scary because the internet police will get them. I'm not joking (sorta) I have a cousin that's terrified of doing it because he thinks they'll find him and sue him rather than you know the pirating site itself.

Just tell him that the biggest pirate site in all the internet is The Internet Archive, honestly i download all my roms and isos from there

Little edit: normally you just follow the rule "im going to download this and make a profit for it?" if your answer is no you are ok, now if you go "im going to download this, put it in a cheap mini computer and scam idiots out of their money" then thats another thing

In case he doesn't believe you

So apparently even the SNES classic is able to run some of the games on the ps classic better :story:

I'm pretty sure someone at Sony should be mad for the fact that even the competition work better without even trying

At least this will make more people buy Raspberry/Odroid and live happily with Retropie , you can even buy a better case that even come with LEDs for that EXPERIENCE

To be fair the Super Famicom could do 2 on 2 tag fights in the third Ranma fighter compared to the PS1's complete bedshitting at it for Capcom fighters, so there's not much new there.

That looks like an easy mod. Soldering isn’t anything scary, just practice on shit you wouldn’t cry too much over if you destroy it.
