James Cameron's Avatar to get four sequels - The message will still be the same

This is by Disney though. Jim apparently owns the rights to Avatar lock, stock, and barrel. So he could shop it to Universal, Paramount, Sony, or Warner Bros. Hell, he could skip all that and just release it independently. Avatar 2 has all the "filming" done, so its not a total waste. But who knows.

Edit: Idk. Sources say they've been bumped back a year, so who knows.

LMAO I knew it would get delayed again despite Disney having set on its film schedule.

This shit is the vaporware of movies.

Do people still care about this franchise? Didn't everyone agree it was an overrated firework show with a knock off Pocohantas plot?

James Cameron still wants to make more movies. I think the studios are okay with backing it since the first one was the highest Grossing film of all time before Cape Shit took over. So with a bit of TLC and marketing setup, it could make a lot of money.

I'm interested just to see what opening weekend for Avatar 2 will be. If it'll bomb outright or fail to make its money back (ie 500 million vs 1+ billion)

He got 1bil to make 4 movies, so 4 movies will probably make 1 billion back. What's doubtful, imo, is them making 2bil per movie like Avatar did. Ignoring covid and the effect that may have on theaters going forward.

Avatar made a significant portion of its money by being a somewhat revolutionary movie visually with an upcharge of 3D ticket prices. And tbf to it and Cameron it utilized 3D in really cool way that no other movie that was made in the 3D craze immediately after its release was able to do. But even if the 1st sequel manages to do the same thing(doubtful) since they are all being made at the same time the other 3 won't have that advantage.

I'm interested too in seeing how it does. A friend and I have a bet on how well itll do. He still thinks Cameron makes good movies and the general populace care about the world of Pandora. I don't.

Compared to world building like The Dark Crystal and the other better Avatar, these movies aren’t that great.

Sequels will always be shit since the movies:

A. Don't give the humans any credibility so they act like every Captain Planet style cartoon villain rather than just do the obvious (orbital bombard the planet and mine from the wreckage).

B. Cameron has long been a Leftie faggot who thinks he's some lone rebel against society and wants to be a tranny.

Even Rick and Morty made fun of it. I'm sure sequels will do okay but thanks to the current political climate it has nothing to offer.

What the fuck happened to Sam Worthington? Is he still an actor? I feel like he fell off the face of the earth after the success of the film.
Wikipedia still shows he still acts. He was the main character in both Avatar and COD Black Ops 1 & 2. He probably made a shitload of money. Mostly off of COD.

Could he just keep producing Alita movies, please? I havent read the manga, but I've heard it gets cooler and cooler. Avatar doesnt need a sequel. I cant Imagine what would you do, specially if you want to continue the main storyline. Number 2: maybe avatar guy needs to unite the blue peoples tribes for some reason. 3: earth invades again. 4: no idea.

Me and my son watched Terminator Salvation yesterday (underrated movie btw) and I was thinking the same thing. About 10 years ago he was in everything for a while, then disappeared.

Tbf while he isn't a bad actor, he is pretty bland and forgettable.

He got replaced by Jai Courtney as the next movie star project because Sam's boring. Unfortunately for Jai, he is too. Unlike Jai Sam got paid and has made enough money not to have to act anymore, which interestingly enough a lot of actors seem to do.

Fun fact, in the blu ray extras for Alita Battle Angel, in celebration for the adaptation James Cameron awarded the original author Yukito Kishiro a signed artbook and poster for Avatar. God knows why. It was hilarious.
I think Kishiro has said that Terminator 2 had a big influence on Alita, maybe it was just some pr, but i think he would aprecciate something from Terminator much more, as anyone would. I think Robert Rodriguez said Cameron loves Avatar so much because he feels its something akin to tolkien middle earth, a world that is completly his. Of course, he cant see how much it sucks and derivative it is.
