"We're in a different time now. When this game came out there wasn't hundreds of games you could buy. For Playstation 4 I have, like, over ten games. But when I was a kid for my Sega, I had like five or six. And that's how much I had the entire time. And I would rent other games here or there."

I'm not quoting the whole thing, but I'm just laughing at this fat turd trying, and failing, to make a point about game access in the 80s vs. today.

NES TMNT is... A mediocre game. A lot of bad design choices. Not the worst ever made but it's hardly "good." I consider the Nightmare on Elm Street game to be "good" 7 out of 10 material. NES TMNT is a game made irrelevant by the sequels that addressed the major issues.

Edit: I'm watching the video now and Mike calls it "Phenomenal!" Sure, bud. Totally not acting like a contrarian faggot for clickbait bullshit, right? I ended the video right there because I knew exactly what it was.

NES TMNT is one of those games that I look at and go "There is a really solid game in there' but some bad design choices drag it down.

If a Turtles game was remade in this style and fixed all the problems, I'd be down.

It's a nostalgic as fuck game for obvious reasons. The pause sound for that and other Konami games always gets me right in the feels. But it's not a great game at all.

I can't help but think the Spawn episode would've been hilarious if he'd done it 10 years ago, but as far as the past few years of AVGN go it's pretty decent. There's certainly a lot worse.
10:30 okay I'm wondering if they're being intentionally bad now. "This is IM-FUCKING-Possible!" REALLY NIGGA? REALLY?
AVGN always has done shit like that.

Yeah, but it was when the game was actually hard. Redeemer is the 2nd boss and he's easy as fuck so long as you have more than a spinal cord for a brain.

He's tackling Majora's Mask?

That's a risky move...there are people that LOVE this game and consider it to be the best Zelda game.

Well I haven't watched it yet but James has done some positive reviews before like with Earthbound and Mario 3

The difference is that Screenwave is doing everything including writing and capturing game footage.

I am watching it now and dear lord there's a Raid: Shadow Legends ad, this is going to suck.

Will edit to give full thoughts.

EDIT: Most of the issues James has are due to their own issues with the games mechanics and technical issues. He recommended the 3DS remaster for better technical stuff. He loved the storyline and all the narrative stuff about the game however.

Though the review itself was not that great as it felt dragged out at times with only a few good moments. Is better for background noise.

Also he's reviewing Raid 2020 next.

The Twilight Zone bits at the start and the end were the only "good" parts, everything else is as joyless and boring as every other Screenwave episode. There was also no need for it to be 40 minutes long.

I like to give James the benefit of the doubt, but the complaints he makes are so dumb.
-he complains about having to practice the racing sections in order to win
-he complains about not understanding how the ice platforms work
-he complains about being allowed to pick up a mask before the heart container
-he complains about constantly running out of time (which is something I don't remember EVER happening back in the day)
-he complains about having to wait for events to occur

All his complaints feel like the complaints of someone rushing through the game rather than playing it for fun. And all the footage is mostly just of him failing easy tasks. I don't care about him critiquing a game I like, but this is Dean Takahashi-level shit.

To be fair the SMB3 episode was more of a review for The Wizard combined with a lead-up for the next video, the Nintendo Accessories review.

I miss The Wizard part, though. And the episode where he reviews the Atari porn games.

I think it's half a great game and half a not so great game.

Basically the overworld and town is great, love the time loop mechanics and all that, the whole setting is really interesting with that creepy Moon bearing down on you, but I find the dungeons to be tedious slogs, especially the water one where you have to keep reversing the flow of water back and forth and back and forth, ugh.

It's still fascinating for how unique it is amongst the series though.

And the episode where he reviews the Atari porn games.

Wait, what happened to that episode? Is it really not still available to watch?
