When Atari Porn came out. James was under contract with Game Trailors as was other Screw Attack shows.

He got away with the Atari Porn episode because he didnt have Youtube.

The AVGN theme doesn't make any sense to me... "He'd rather have a buffalo take a diarrhea dump in his ear... He'd rather eat the rotten asshole of a roadkill skunk then down it with beer.." He'd rather do those things than what? In context with the rest of the song, I guess he'd rather do those things than play a shitty game that sucks ass?

No offense James, I'd rather just play the shitty games... especially if I was getting paid as much to do that as you are...

If cleaned and not filled with poop, I would want to do this someday.
I've literally eaten a bit of beef intestine before, which is fairly close to eating an "animal asshole"... although admittedly what I ate was not even remotely rotten, or from a skunk... (it was clean, and yes I did get money for doing so) Still, I don't recommend it.

I thought it was an alright episode really, one of the best he did in months, given the effort put into it compared with the usual Screenwave schtick.

I thought that was a pretty good episode and I overall agree with his assessment, everything about the game is great.... save the actual gameplay.

It's interesting that it took him so long to play it because other than an aborted attempt in 2011 I myself didn't give the game a full play through until 2017, so not too long before he did.

While I'm certainly glad I played it and I didn't have quite as much frustration as James seem to have had, it's not likely to be a game I'll ever replay.

James played it for months too (not by Screenwave guys), apparently footage even went across 6 DVDs.

I liked that episode.

Majora's Mask,, for me, is a bit of an oddity in the Zelda lineup, which is both a good and a bad thing.

It is definitely unique and has an atmosphere and style that sets it apart from the rest of the series. But I also felt like maybe they tried a little too hard.

A lot of the game mechanics are great (transforming masks, time loop element) but there are parts of it that are overly complicated and messy, as AVGN points out in the video. I don't remember struggling with it as much as he did here, but I do remember getting headaches trying to keep track of all the side quests (I actually kept a notebook to keep it all down, no joke).

I also remember being disappointed that there were only 4 dungeons in this one. By this point, I was used to the Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time set up of "The first 3-4 dungeons are the set up, now the REAL adventure begins" but here, I finished the 4 and it was almost over. Looking back on it though, with the time loop set up, having more than 4 dungeons would have made the game an unwieldy mess, so maybe it was better to cut it short, lol.

Major's Mask is nowhere near my favorite Zelda game, but it gets an A for effort and creativity. This could have easily turned into a black sheep of the series, but instead, it forged its own enduring legacy...even if parts of it are super frustrating.

Majora's Mask is to the 3D Zelda games as Zelda II is to the 2D Zelda games.

Mike also said that James memorized his lines in a review when we can see cue cards reflected in his glasses.

I finally watched the Majora's Mask review. I never played it, not a Zelda fan, but I did watch the This Is How You DON'T Play Game Grumps video.

I thought this was okay. He gives good reasoning for his points regarding the difficulty and time travel. The sketches especially at the beginning are cancer.

That about sums the game up, very interesting and unique ideas and style, but some unfortunate frustration and overly complicated parts.

I really wish I had played it as a kid around when I played Ocarina because I probably would have been more forgiving of its flaws, I wanted to but I didn't understand what needing the expansion pack meant or how to get one so I just moved on, so even the basic ability to play the game was confusing.

It wasn't till James mentioned it that I realised no one ever talks about the gameplay in Majora's Mask. Damn blew my mind.

Majora's Mask is to the 3D Zelda games as Zelda II is to the 2D Zelda games.

It's a shame cause I fucking love Zelda II.
