So I have been listening to the audiobook of James's autobiography and I am very, very conflicted.
I am not someone in the camp that thinks hes a drooling retard who cannot wipe his own ass, but he has done a few insanely stupid things.
The biggest was when he was a freshman in college, his dorm buddies ruined their dorms and were generally public menaces, burning stuff indoors, smoking weed, punching holes in the walls and ceiling, tearing apart cabinetry, and being insanely rude to the college.
He recorded almost EVERYTHING and before he went on summer break he edited everything down into a 40 minute long best of show, with him narrating the events as if he had a part in the chaos (even though he swears he never did anything aside from record the events)
Literally had a part where one guy flipped off the camera and said "FUck this school"
Well when summer ended, he got a call from the head of the college and then a letter, saying he was kicked out for participating in the events.
He had to show his family what happened and why, and even though he did have his termination reduced to a one year suspension, the very fact he MADE a goddamn video showing off everything shows his judgement is far from ideal.
He only had the video distributed among his buddies, so one was either a snitch or the dean stole the tape.
Why, in the name of god would you make a piece of incriminating evidence that would/could fuck you over?
Look, I still like James's old stuff, but this was hard to swallow. Also I tried watching his new stuff and its terrible. James really, honestly should retire (unless April won't let him)

Say what you want about Mike Matei. But AVGN was relatively drama free back when Mike Matei was still part of Cineamasscre. It sounds like Mike was the one keeping the AVGN crew in line despite the drama between him and the Irate gamer. Soon as Mike Matei is gone, Sliverwave guys are going full on channel awesome autism. Mike Matei was the one keeping James Rofles from embarrassing himself online. James' midlife crisis got triggered as soon as Mike Matei was no longer there. But that's just my theory.
