For the longest time until Slobwave came around, Mike was the one who got all of TCT’s ire. Then when the slobs showed up they found new, actually deserving targets. I still find it funny that they whine about Mike being gone when that is exactly what they wanted for the longest time. It’s almost like TCT are all morons who don’t really know what they want, they just know “Nerd Man Bad” because his content got somewhat stale in the past 5 years.

I think this OP needs a big update. I'm pretty curious about all Screenwave nowadays, esp if there are any more laughs about Ryan since his last appearance randomly in a lady blouse. I heard he transed since then but not sure if that's only speculation. It's strange because it seemed like he was turning chad for a while when his kids were little, but that must have been 5+ years ago.

The long slow slide of Cinemassacre into hairlessness, self-censorship, too many buttons, infinite irrelevant podcasts, fat random disgusting perverts instead of standard pervert Mike Mattei, disappearing/disrespecting Bootsy, etc, etc, etc. Complete lack of self awareness which had led to the AVGN movie fiasco has just compounded into the soulless sad videos today. The opportunity cost was far too high. i.e. At the height of his fame James Rolfe spent wasted more than a year off making the movie and left Mike on the channel to make listicle videos. It hurt his audience, his art, and his reputation. A few years later the lukewarm feedback to Board James similarly seemed to do a number on James and he really hasn't done anything as creative or ambitious since. (Personally I thought Board James was always fun and its conclusion epic and well executed, for what it's worth. Maybe not so much as an actual board game review though.)

He did do a couple classic horror vids afterwards like 'why is there cardboard in Dracula?' which was pleasant at the time like a fireside chat. Knowing what I know now he probably stole it from some blog post.

Fattys, podcasts, etc were a strange surprise after this and I pretty much stopped watching. AVGN was already pretty bad by that point. Rex Viper is a thing since then but I've never listened, and I trust it's awful.

Clips on the cinemassacretruth kept me up to date but that place really ... I donno, you can smell it through your screen. They love huffing their own farts, and all seem to have some misdirected anti-daddy attitude.

So it would be nice having a good more up to date OP which doesn't use any of those dumbass reddit memes such as no time, 540, ten inches... (Though they might be mentioned as existing, because they do exist for a reason.) You know what I mean. Just the facts ma'am.

We know remarkably little about Screenwave. That's a fact. From what I was able to gather is that Ryan's father (Ryan has a sister as well) just gifted him the company as a startup. Through various connections he was able to (at first) work for James and setup the server for the Cinemassacre site and various backend shit. At some point he began to take over merch sales and other things like that. As we all know by now, James became burnt out and Ryan stepped in to make videos and their role has been increasingly expanding.

Justin and Tony were low tier Youtubers who were picked up by Ryan most likely because they were based in Jersey and freelance videographers/editors. Kieran was hired later to assist in editing.

Big question: what exactly is this relationship between Screenwave and James? Is James now a contractor for Screenwave? Is Screenwave a co-owner or just straight up owns Cinemassacre and therefore AVGN? What is going on? Kieran has so far given us a pretty decent look inside the inner workings and my hypothesis is that James sold away some of his rights to various AVGN/Cinemassacre things and became a contractor for them. It's kind of like an autistic mafia: we give you something and then we can hold that over you and you now owe us.

I’ve been saying all of that for literal years. They focus on their shit tier “memes” instead of real issues like they did at first. The reason the place was created was to be a place where AVGN fans could talk about stuff without being censored by Mike on the real sub. It turned into a place where a bunch of losers sit around make the same crappy memes.

Really, they’re more obsessed with James than his own fans are. Cinemassacre fans, from what I’ve seen lately, only talk about James in the comments of Cinemassacre videos and then move on to other things.
