"When I'm working, most of my time isn't spent working on videos, but fixing technical stuff instead."

It's very unfortunate that after being a content creator and an amateur filmmaker for so long, technical issues and faulty equipment is what is holding him back. Maybe he should try to crowdfund a whole new setup... Since making videos is his livelihood, he should streamline the process as much as possible.

That does explain a whole lot, and yet not enough. I don't mind the single shot setup of just him sitting in front of the couch, but more of the quality of the scripts he's recieving.

I do admire his (and his "crew"'s) attempts at more simple episodes again carmageddon 64 wasnt that bad guys and its great he's been attempting more "fun" episodes (partially why I didn't hate Shrek and Vegas Stakes) but they simply need stronger scripts for the episodes.

Speaking of which, I wonder if the lackluster scripts on most of the episodes this year are due to them pushing hard to reach the 200th episode. That would explain how rushed most of these episodes have been this year.

Of course, all of that ignores one major question: What's going on in his personal life that's exactly causing this excess laziness in production quality? I wouldn't imagine James is having any trouble at home, but given he already wasn't having "enough time" due to kids prior to COVID.

I don't think I should dwell in further regarding that question, it's just so ambiguous that I have a low chance of my guess being correct.

It's just a guess but i think it might have something to do with his wife, how she demanded him to write in black characters, women etc. in his life-work. The 5:40 incident, those small crumbs leads to a wife that despices her husbands work and won't hesitate to suck his passion away for her own selfish reasons.

I've seen this kind of behaviour in real life and iv'e seen headstronger men fall in to this trap. Some (bad) women can smell desperation and low self esteem in men.

If Mr. Rolfe found a good and supportive girl that don't mind if her husband can be happy with his work life and stuff that doesn't directly involve her... he would've made his horror movie by now. That's my five cents.

I agree but then how do you explain the first 15 years of AVGN? How do you explain the AVGN Movie? As far as I'm aware she was fully supportive of him during this period.

Just like with all kind of relationship-abuse, it creeps in slowly, the AVGN movie is rumored to have paid for his house and if you look up the message from "Mrs. Nerd" herself, you can see she had some input on the movie itself, talking about an caucasian sausagefest and demanding him to diverse the script, a script he and Kevin been working on since AVGN became a thing.

Of course i'm not claiming this to be the actual truth, just my theory based on the small info i have. A hunch if you will.

The Carmageddon episode is still stuck on 600k, this is a disaster.

And I presume the podcast won't have guests, right? Only three chairs for James and the two slobs (Tony is apparently not in the team anymore). It's never going to work. The same way Mike was the one who carried J&M Mondays on his shoulders, the failed Rental Reviews were dominated by Tony and his bad jokes and neverending laughter. Now they have no one to keep things moving. James would rather die than discuss anything these days, Kieran is silent 99% of the Time and Justin is a boring fatass.

The channel is fucking dead, lmao.
