I'm actually hyped and hopefull someone will record the opening act. Hyped that it will be major cringe and a fiasco. Not that i have something against Rolfe, as most here, i never thought i'd see the day i was looking forward to see him fail over and over again.

The thing with his mid-life crisis band. Why Rolfe, why did you feel the need to put it on your main channel? I get it. You want to focus on this project for a while but don't plaster "Cinemassacre" on it, if this was it's own thing, own channel, and he was just a member of the lot, not posing as the frickin' main guy, he wouldn't get half of this criticism.

Somebody in his circle of friends shou... oh wait... they are all gone. Mike, Bootsy, they both seems to be that kind of guys that would have told him, one way or another. And maybe that's why Mike left, that he tried to get to him but he wouldn't listen. Because Justin wormtongue got to him?

If you follow the cinemassacrethruth (only reddit page i follow, promise! Not a reddit guy) there was a clip from a Mike & Erin stream where Carmageddon 64 is brought up and you can fucking tell that Mike get's bummed about it. "Oh yeah... that game, i... actually wrote a AVGN script for it" *Sips his water bottle*. You could tell it got to him. Let's hope he speaks up sooner than with the Bootsy drama. That took, like what? 3 years before he felt hounded enough.

Honestly it's impressive that Justin Silverman has lasted this long considering his past drama with TotalBiscuit, Normal Boots and even his own former staff. He's a borderline lolcow, but seemingly connected just enough to find people as pathetic to accept him. He reminds me a tiny bit of Digibro and his constant quest to reinvent himself.

He shouldn't be on camera. Nobody wants to look at this morbidly obese toad.

Never thought I’d say this, but I honestly kinda feel bad for Mike, the spergy little autist. Love him or hate him, he put a lot of work into AVGN, and he was a genuine friend to James. Must suck seeing your best friend completely roll over and die and throw you under the bus in favor of a pack of fat neckbeard faggots content on shitting out mediocre episodes

I actually enjoy a lot of Mike's gaming livestreams.

His sense of humor can be cringey and stupidly juvenile, but he's really funny when he's really frustrated at a game.

And he's damned persistent. He played the super frustrating final level of Ghost N Goblins arcade for like 10 hours until he beat it. I would have given up in less than half that time.

It was Mike's idea to hire Screenwave. Also this guy is loaded despite apparently not doing anything for a living. This and his persistence make me believe Mike accounted for 90% of work on AVGN episodes. Dude basically sold his Cinemassacre stock at it's height and fucked off to greener pastures, he's clever enough to realize James will flop soon IMO.

The theory that James is a retarded and naive manchild who got sold by his old pimp to new pimps to be exploited until he's dry... I can see it tbh.

Wish we were in a timeline where this dumb band thing had Bootsy at least.

You know, a professional musician. Who wrote and performed songs for James' videos already.

Shit Mike can probably do some kind of gutteral death metal scream with the way he yells as is.
And maybe a certain guitar guy could've helped out for a song or two...

James' decline is like Mark Bussler of Classic Game Room all over again.

Both really nice guys you'd like to hang with, but delusional and grasping at straws for relevance.

Do you think there's some kind of royalties James maybe gets yearly? He's licensed the Nerd out to a lot of different companies, from funko pops to vinyl records of the game ost, so it there's maybe some money coming in unless it's all being swallowed into the black hole known as Screen Wave (just look at all the gravitational mass there is when those death fats from are in the same room together).

Mark seems happy off doing whatever he's doing now after sort of just giving up (I think?? He's grown beautiful long silver fox hair out now, thats for sure) and can coast by on the royalties he made from his documentry days. James is still letting his ego get in the way instead of being happy with what he has.

Does this mean that James is just going to do Rex Viper videos that very little people will watch and will downvote to oblivion like when Mark did those comic videos?

God that was bad but it got worse when started to review whatever was in his line of site.

Mechanical eraser? He's got you covered.

I don't think James will get this desperate.

Edit: Walking by my DVD shelf I noticed my CGR DVD's. I really like the first one about the original 90's show Mark did with Dave, but thinking back, like James and his "films" Mark really overplays the value of what he and Dave did back then. I can't imagine many youtubers were aware of fromusalive.com in 1999.

The Music Video has come out.
I just finished watching it a moment ago, and came to this thread specifically to see what you all thought of it. Before watching I noticed the negative Youtube ratings and the sardonic comments about James not having enough time, and knew right away this would be a real dud.

I honestly wasn't digging this video. I didn't really care for The Power of Love at first either, but I rewatched it and learned to appreciate it, even though it was rough around the edges. But this one just plain sucked, lacked production quality, had terrible audio, and was dragged out for too long with the Silverman part. It seemed like a Tim & Eric sketch if anything.
When Justin debuts 2/3 of the way in, I cringed so hard. You've got this song and music video with the theme of working out and getting in shape and then this human Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man just appears and starts singing, jowls and chins jiggling along.
Reminds me of a funny Beavis & Butthead segment where they critique the metal band Crowbar whose lead singer is notoriously fat. The duo joked that this is the kind of music you play when you're trying gain weight instead of losing it; instead of running laps you take reps of eating donuts.

Whatever happened to Mark anyway? Last time I checked up that one other guy that did CGR Undertow left.

It's a story of grand boomer aspirations.

CGR was actually ran by like, a board of directors? Mark was a part of that. They had all these crazy ideas, treating CGR like a TV show instead of a low budget YT channel (hence way too much warehouse space). They also tried to branch out into a bunch of different things like the news.

Then youtube apocalypse happens and I guess also some bizarre obsession over a watch mojo or something clip using a snippit of Derrick which Mark kept treating as some kind of offense that YT really wouldnt do much over it (not the biggest deal in the world, just dicky).

Mark then branched out into a zillion other projects (comics), tried to do a billion more shows on Amazon that I've read were pretty bad (haven't seen yet) and then decided to quit all that, start releaseing angry and seething books about how not to succeed or fail or something on the internet and now is focusing on his ultimate console guides that I hear are really good and informative.

He's also coasting on I suppose some trust fund since his dad was successful, but he went and pissed off a lot of people by selling off all those donations rather than you know, anything other than a dick move like that.

Also to add to my previous comment, as dumb and unrefined as The Power of Love was, I still found it interesting that they tied in the whole BTTF plot thing of James traveling back in time to destroy the LJN factory, and how the middle of the song was a rock version of the shitty NES BTTF game. It was actually somewhat clever in that regard.

But with Hearts on Fire, it's nothing but bad 30 frames a second video footage of the band with terrible special effects, juxtaposed with random sports game footage with an Adobe After Effects VHS distortion effect. Then all of the sudden it's snowing and Silverman's fat ass appears for no reason.

We could've had the autistic video game Beatles with James, Kyle, Bootsy and Mike and instead we have...Rex Viper.

Truly the worst timeline.
If you want a retro vidya novelty band for James, those are the members you'd want. The only person worth shit as a musician in Rex Viper is the singer, who should ditch this novelty band ASAP. He's a bit rough, but he'd have potential in a lot of styles of metal where the music could help hide his flaws.

As I've said, most people treat an 80s rock musician trying to do angry reviews of retro vidya as disposable novelty, so why wouldn't they treat an angry retro vidya reviewer trying to do 80s rock the same way?
