I feel kind of bad ripping on his autobiography but there's a time and a place...

Confirms that he grew up with autism. It all makes sense in hindsight but it's amazing how long he hid it while on camera.

It is weird to have your wife write the foreword for your autobiography. Typically speaking, the writer would have a prestigious alumni or mentor write a foreword. Or maybe you play your celebrity friend card to get more eyes on the book. You don't use your wife because it pays to have someone who has no sense of bias and gives their unique take on the subject. Also, they misspelled "foreword" which -to be fair- it's a very easy spelling mistake to make but a good editor would have caught that. I'm starting to believe that there was no editor involved
Edit: I'm grabbing bits and pieces from the Reddit so pardon me as I edit as I go.

Another part of the foreword. The wife cannot write for shit and it feels like James wrote this bit or encouraged her. It's also wayyyyyy too pompous. This man has directed one feature. That is it. He directed a couple of shorts that played a handful of festivals but he hasn't won an Oscar, or a Golden Globe or even a People's Choice award. I can think of many other scrappy filmmakers that actually made features, got them sold and distributed to an international audience and the vast majority of those guys don't have an ego (excluding the likes of Tommy Wiseau but that's to be expected).

We can see where his free time goes. It's pretty adorable, NGL.
More power to him for writing this but the level of the writing is very 4th grade level. Understandable but over-simplified. But I have to question the timing and the purpose of this. Is this a self-exorcism kind of thing or is it pure hubris? I.E. all the big shots write their autobiography so I have to make one. That kind of thing. But I don't think he truly understands how exposed you are when you write something like this. It's one thing to do this when you're a beloved public figure or you're trying to clear the air over something perhaps related to trauma. It's another when you do it out of hubris and make a buck off people. It leaves yourself open to ridicule.
Edit: dudes are posting pages left and right. James gives his reasoning for filming in L.A. for the AVGN Movie:

It always rains on East Coast? Snow during Halloween one time makes it a bad idea to film? Were you planning on shooting around Halloween time? There's nothing resembling a desert ANYWHERE in Jersey? Yeah... If you read between the lines it seems like the co-director made the decision for him to film in L.A. either that or his wife.
It's funny how many asspats the wife gets. I get the impression his wife April must have been the first and only woman he's ever had sex with.
Another thing: the formatting is bad. When writing you want to format like this:

You get the idea.
2nd edit: MORE grammatical errors:

I thought this was a joke. I thought a dude was shit posting. But no. This is from the book. So many god damn errors and it's so awkwardly constructed. Misspelling "foreword" is one thing but this is just dog shit. There was no editor involved with this and if there was an editor then I hope to god he didn't pay for it. If he did he got ripped off.
