Cobes hasn't gathered wand wood since he got sent his lathe. You can't really lathe actual sticks so he has to have fans send him turning blanks.

This is cobra-lore that I just learned, truly amazing. This entire time I thought he was still walking around the town and snipping branches.

Maybe in his prime, but I doubt he's in any shape to make much effort in winter. Does he even have proper winter wear?

I like to think that he goes out in bare minimum essentials since he thinks that he can warm himself up via the flames of hell.

A Lathe is overkill for his wands, at most he needs a Parrot Vice (also called a Gunstock Vice) at most and a Curved and Flat Bottom spoke shave, Just to put in in perspective I am making a Roman Workbench for a friend at the moment and I turned 17in long 2in diameter solid oak into a round tapering from 2" to 1.5" using nothing but a small draw knife (a spoke shave essentially) and a curved bottom spoke shave in under 30min each and I made 6 of them.

If he had to use a Lathe at all you can get ones powered by Drill Motors that have a safety interlock for the headstock that prevents accidents by slipping if there is to much resistance, and a lot of them have a safety step switch that only allows the drill to run when you are actively standing on it.

For him he needs very little in the way of tooling for his wands, there is a guy on Etsy who charges the same as Josh but really goes to town on the carving and does custom stuff too, Josh just blows a few out he's badly turned when he needs extra booze money.

It is but it lacks the safety interlock, unless the belt tensioner has a spring feature I'm not aware of - it's a fairly common el'cheap'o lathe shat out by foundries in china by the thousands, the Drill Motor ones tend to be made as an accessory by brands with a legitimate market presence not "3 Happy Joy Machines and Fashion" who have to follow safety standards.

Just so you have an idea of China direct and follows legal safety standards - I have seen a really cheap sub £350 metal turning lathe that had the same castings as one sold for £400 by a largish UK tool reseller - the £350 one had a e-stop switch and a safety guard the E-stop wasn't wired and the chuck safety guard wasn't made from plexi glass but a flexible thick plastic sheet and the Lathe would start no matter if it was up or down because it was bypassed at the factory due to a short they couldn't work out.

His lathe isn't powerful enough to really fuck him up like a small metalworking lathe would, BUT it's still enough to grab him, his hair, clothing, jewellery etc and either throw the work into him, pull a finger off etc, many people far smarter than cobes underestimate the power of a wood lathe even a light duty one and end up regretting it.

I can't see Josh agreeing to other people making wands claiming to be his, his gourd is far too big and up his own ass for that. Remember, he was so disturbed and annoyed by warlord wanting to make wands that he'd go so far to just snap warlords wand to "prove it wasn't strong enough" compared to something he made himself.
