Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

Not to mention the game is developed in Japan which has not seen anywhere near the inflation we have in the West. I think they peaked at around 4%.
Japanese prices on videogames don't have the concept of MSRP as it's entirely up to the publisher to decide the pricing. Meaning you can have games costing the equivalent of 100 bucks (like SMT5 or the Nobunaga Ambition titles) or generally around 75-85 bucks. Sure, the yen value is lower these days but it doesn't matter much when you get to pay shipping fees if importing the physical, or forced to use prepaid cards in order to buy things off the japanese eshop (Play-Asia being the sole reliable place to get them).

I'm the kind of guy who is willing to pay the higher price in yen just to have the moonrunes text support which is most often removed by certain publishers (Atlus, Bamco, Falcom, NIS, Sega, Koei-Tecmo and sometimes Squeenix), as I don't want to deal with poor translation and eventual censorship from either western branch. Nintendo releases are at least global with the exception of Xenoblade 2 & the Famicom Detective remakes (and Buddy Mission Bond staying as a JP exclusive).

I think I mentioned it before here, but taking a look at the release prices of other regions for BotW, it seems like NA is the only one that upped the price for TotK.
Yeah, Tears of Kingdom costs 70€ MSRP in my country, which is about as much as Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Smash Bros Ultimate are priced. In Japan, it costs 7900 yen which also goes in line with its predecessor.

I might be able to get the physical off the supermarket for 35€ with my fidelity card.

Someone was arguing the price was higher due to inflation. My point was inflation didn't affect Nintendo's development costs very much as inflation wasn't that high in Japan, not that you should buy the game from Japan. The fact that it costs the same in Japan and your country actually supports what I was saying.

I think Nintendo is rightly expecting the game to sell like hotcakes in America because it will be popular on Twitch and are taking advantage of it, as it their prerogative. I just think a lot of 40-year-old dads such as myself who don't care about Twitch and only have 2-3 new games a year budgeted are going to pass on it because at the end of a day it looks a lot like its predecessor and costs more.

It costs 110 dollars here, same as BotW... don't buy games in LATAM kids prices here suck dick.

I thought it looked like a lot of fun. It will be neat to explore a familiar world and see how it has changed. I've got no problem with the game being a near-continuation of the first. They made this cool, giant world and sandbox. Why not flesh it out more and keep it going?

Death Mountain had a shit ton of miasma flowing out of it. I hope my Goron buddies are okay. I'm going there first.

Also you niggers arguing inflation. Jesus Christ. :story:
WHAT THE FUCK MAN, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE ANGRY WHEN YOU DISCUSS GAMES ON THE INTERNET

Oh yeah don't get me wrong, I still believe 70 bucks (regardless it is in dollars, euros, or the japanese equivalent in yen) is still a non-negligible amount of money involved. Especially nowadays. At the end of the day though, people are willing to pay full price for something they really do want to play (high on the priority list) while others will either wait for a sale or a secondhand copy. Either renting a copy or pirating too. People are free to do whatever about the product and shouldn't need to justify further.

As for the game itself, I also dunno why people call it "DLC" when @huecoffs02 pointed this is not a rare sight among japanese vidya sequels. I'm a huge fan of EDF games could boil down to "re-used assets: the franchise" for example.

The fusion mechanics seem a nice way to actually use the loot items that I remember gathering in BotW but did stay in my inventory untouched. And I do assume there is a few more novelty that wasn't revealed yet.

Oh I very much disagree.
I don't even own any Nintendo consoles and this 40-year-old man is calling me a "Nintendo fanboy" because I think Japanese companies that depend on international sales to turn a profit might care about record levels of inflation outside of Japan. Nigga you buy milk in plastic bags.

And then years down the line, complain about the new game while holding the current game up on a pedestal like it was perfect.
"Man Majora's Mask was really good, why'd they deny Zelda this brand new direction!?"

"Man I remember really liking Wind Waker, but now Twilight Princess is just lifeless..."

"What the fuck, why did they make Skyward Sword!? Twilight Princess is the GOAT alongside OoT!"

I think the only exception to this was Skyward Sword going into BOTW, I still seldom see anyone like that game unless I've missed some resurgence in the last three years.

Skyward Sword HD garnered praise from the usual Nintendo consoomers, though that's just consoomers being consoomers. I've never heard of anyone worth listening to ever claim to actually like that game.

I liked it... I played it for the first time this year, It had a lot of good elements imo, especially the dungeons and some of the bosses.

I remember the response to Twilight Princess being overwhelmingly positive when it came out and then people slowly turning on it over the years. I think people have turned around on it again since, but people fucking hated both Twilight Princes and Skyward Sword in the time period leading up to BOTWs release. It's one of the reasons BOTW was so different in the first place. I actually think people hate Twilight Princes because of Skyward Sword.

The dungeons are pretty good, and the soundtrack is good. That's about it, and I went out and got it day one back in the day
