Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

@Sugriva Even though we may disagree on some things, we're completely on track with A Link Between Worlds. It is easily one of the very best Zelda games and also underrated.

The soundtrack in A Link Between Worlds really is a marvel. You nailed every point. It really is impressive how they took what had existed for 20 years and morphed it into something that was not only new, but phenomenal. For the uninitiated, check out some tracks from A Link Between Worlds. Some morph classics into new tracks and several are entirely new.

I quoted the videos to reduce the space they take up.
And so much of this is hidden beneath the 3DS' low quality speakers. Headphones, my people! This game sings.

But of course the very best Zelda music is Hyrule Castle from A Link to the Past. And A Link Between Worlds does it justice:

I know it is a lot, but if you never played A Link Between Worlds, check out this OST. It's excellent and smashed into a 3DS cartridge.

You weren't completely wrong. It's probably the worst looking Zelda that's not on CD-i, that might even include the NES games (maybe).
The way they tilted everything was jarring but when the game is in motion and in your hands is manages to work very well. It is a bit hard to explain.

Weird because I thought that A Link Between Worlds was pretty popular but I guess not as many people played it as I thought? Though a brief look says the game sold over four million copies, which is respectable.

I only hear praise for it. I personally didn't like the weird look of its art style, and the way you get items isn't preferable to me. I prefer more structure in my Zeldas. It's a good game though, I'll finish it one day.

Go easy on the Nintendo fans they only get pixel indieshit and 360 ports. None of them have had a chance to play Elden Ring.
I mean, I played and greatly enjoyed Elden Ring, yet I still felt it wasn't as good as BOTW.
Anyone else have trouble replaying Breath of the Wild? I've tried a few times but after playing it very thoroughly once, I just can't manage to finish it again.
Honestly, that's something that I feel whenever it comes to replaying an extremely long and memorable video game, including many Zelda games. The second playthrough just simply can't capture the magic and excitement of the first time you experience all the stuff.

Doesn't keep it from being a favorite of mine, but it is definitely something I can understand.

This is exactly how I am, and it's why I'm so disappointed at what they've shown so far.

Fucking around in Hyrule with 4 new abilities doesn't sell me at all when I'm already done with Hyrule.

That's why I wish they'd show off these caves or dungeons that are supposedly there.

I just wish I'd known about the weather forecast in the HUD earlier in my first playthrough. Knowing the weather ahead of time actually made quite a huge difference to my enjoyment of the game. My early experience of getting caught out by rain colored the rest of the playthough for me *sigh*

Nintendo isn't pointing a gun to your head and forcing you to preorder the game. Just wait a week for people to post shit before deciding whether to buy it, genius.
Obviously, but we're all speculating and dropping opinions, as per the purpose of a forum. I'm sorry BotW sucked but maybe TotK won't, we'll see.

I think I've liked everything first-party Zelda. I'd say Skyward Sword was my least-liked, and even that I played through and mostly enjoyed.
I've never played Skyward Sword. Only mainline Zelda game I have not played. I first avoided it because I honestly can't do the fucking waggle controls and when they tried to sell it on the Wii Motion Plus shit, I avoided it. Then after it came out and people praised the story, I was kind of glad I didn't play it because I'm not really into the lore stuff. I also hear it has overly long, unskippable tutorials which are a pet peeve of mine. Do you think it's worth checking out the HD version or am I correct in assuming it has even more of the worst elements from Twilight Princess that drove me away from the series in the first place? Like, I really can't stand it when a game really obviously tries to hold my hand and directly tell me what to do, and I feel like that got pretty pervasive in the Zelda series. Am I wrong about Skyward Sword or justified in not playing it if I don't like that sort of thing?

I think its worth it, hd version also has a much faster text speed and also lets you skip them.

You could look at the sky and general conditions and get the same information. It was designed to be played with the HUD on or off.

True, but the forecast tells you the weather up to 12 hours in advance. Plus, it's not always obvious from the sky when the rain is going to stop.
The rain never stops...

We really need a Link'ss Awakening type remake for Oracles of Ages/Oracle of Seasons. I hope this is what is planned next after TotK.

From what I read Link's Awakening for the Switch is one of the best all time sellers for the Switch, so I think more remakes are likely.
That'd be great.

Imagine if they even went full bore and made a third game to make it like the original "trilogy" idea.

I do wonder how much of an issue Capcom would be with it though.
