Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

For the past couple of days I have not seen any spoilers on twitter excepts for mechs and warcrimes against the Korok.

This is where all the dev time went. It must have been absolute hell to get this shit to work properly and not be a buggy mess clipping all over the place.

Troubleshooting this was probably a gigantic timesink, specially since unlike most western studios which would have shipped it being a fucky mess, they went full nippom autism and tightened it hard.

It's a whole other discussion if they should have bothered to make something so potent when the grand majority of players won't take advantage of even 10% of it's potential.

It is catnip for autists though so will be a miniminecraft of sorts.

A friend of mine is loving it but is a huge Zelda fag. I'm mildly curious, but I'm not patient enough for the engineering autism, so odds are I would ignore that or drop the game outright if it annoys me. I'm inclined to probably play Breath of the Wild instead once I finally get to playing one of them.

I managed to get a legitimate copy for twelve dollars at fagstop due to their trade deal, which feels like a more appropriate price for the game so far. I might switch to emulating though, since the game seems to barely run on the hardware for which it was designed.

This all depends on how many/what types of games you traded.

You may have potentially made a far worse deal than 70 dollars

You were right when you talked about Ubisoft getting a whole lot of guff for their games while Nintendo gets praise for doing the same thing.
This is honestly what annoys me about it all. Not so much that Nintendo did it, but that the same people who would tell me Far Cry and Assassins Creed games were/are absolute shit because "they did the same thing over and over" say it's basically a plus for TotK simply because they are Nintendo/Zelda consoomers.

I should expect gamers to be hypocritical retards at this point, but holy shit they are going hard en masse with this one. I'm not saying I think Ubisoft games are 10/10 or anything, but it is pretty wild that this game is getting perfect scores and being called a master piece with not just how similar it is to the last game, but the retarded fucking story, awful voice acting and the technical issues that plague it.

At this point, they should just raze Hyrule Castle and start over. Throw Zelda in there, too. The bitch steals Link's house and cucks him to a goat. Not to mention bringing all this gloom with her meddling. The whole royal line and that castle are cursed.

Link should get on a boat, sail out in any direction, and hope he ends up on some Koholint-esque island that doesn't need saving. Or join the minish. Or start a cult that sacrifices goats, I dunno.

Finished it today. It was fun.
  • Was it worth 70 bucks? Fuck no. I emulated it.
  • Was it worth waiting for 6 years? I didn't really wait for it, but 6 years is a long-ass time.
  • Did Ganondorf look awesome? Yes.
  • Did an elf fuck an ayylmao goat man? Yes.
  • Is Link small? Absolutely.
Link is a fucking ultra-manlet and it's pure comedy. He's even smaller than ZELDA.

For some perspective, Elden Ring took ~5ish years and still re-used a lot of groundwork from Dark Souls 3. Skyrim started full development after Fallout 3 in 2008, and it came out in 2011, 3 years. Breath of the Wild took 4 years. 6 years is a LOT of time, even with covid delays.

Far Cry and Far Cry 2 are fucking awesome games and the first AssCreed game is great. That pirate one was also pretty good. The others not so much.

The stuff I like about those games are mostly why I really like Tears of the Kingdom. I didn't enjoy Elden Ring all that much. That one keeps coming up so I thought I'd mention that. Elden Ring has exactly the same problem that Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom revealed about most modern open world games which is that the environment is extremely static and uninteresting.

That tree was cool though. It kept getting bigger the closer you got and then realized it was still really far away. Oh and that blood valkyrie ady is of course my waifu.

So I've done about a dozen shrines now, and they're all kind of... samey? I've run into a couple of combat ones, but most of them seem to be just, like, "here are some components you've used before, time to make yet another simple fan-powered cart to cross this ravine and get to the goal". Were the puzzles all this similar and easy in BotW?

I recall them being at least a bit more complex due to the runes being more than 'reverse this thing in time' and 'grab and glue this thing', but they were still fairly basic.

They were easy in the sense that an handful them made you run your way through obstacle course. But most of the regular ones had two to five puzzles that didn't take to long to figure out.

Can't really say much about TOTK outside that the 3 or 4 that I've seen is essentially retard-proof. I think it's mainly due to how Ultrahand provides an lot of unintended solutions to these puzzles

Explain why please, because I think Far Cry 4 and 5 are leagues better than Far Cry 2 and 3 and the only reason anyone can ever tell me they aren't are because "muh realism" or "OMG it's the same game" so I'd like to hear a different perspective from someone who is enjoying TotK
They're fine games but I guess I was expecting more like Far Cry 2 and less Just Cause. Just Cause is a lot of fun, too. I didn't play much of 5 but it seemed alright. Crysis has been coming up a lot in comparisons and I really liked that game. Some of the situations that cropped up organically in Crysis were extremely fun; much the same with Far Cry 2.

Which Far Cry was the one with the dude in the pink suit that asks you to sit at the table at the start of the game? I actually did that and it was pretty neat. Mostly in Far Cry games after the second one I got the bulk of my enjoyment out of hunting the animals and gathering materials. Those games did that pretty well. Probably why I like these newer Zelda games so much.

My least favorite part of Far Cry is also my least favorite part of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, which is how easy it is to cheese the healing system to get out of a bad situation. Oh I also liked the weapon degradation in Far Cry 2.

I think we just have different tastes. Far Cry is fun though! A lot of my friends really like it. With the exception of niggers flying out of the underbrush, I really liked the second one. Crysis is a masterpiece though. Put a lot of time into that one. Never played any of the sequels though, did you? Were they any good?

If this post seems to parse a bit strangely, forgive me. Me and the woman are coming down off of a 24 hour bender and the hangover is real. :semperfidelis:
