An hour ago one of the smaller tech Youtubers, Tech YES City (real name: Brian), just put out a video where he talks about his personal interactions with Linus and Luke, as well as giving his opinion on LMG's recent controversies.

Summary of the new information:

- He reached out to LMG about severe and misleading errors in a video about Intel Xeon processors and they responded to him but then ghosted him and left the video up without corrections.

-Linus treats other content creators and his own fans like garbage when off-camera. Brian met Linus a couple of times (at an expo and at an industry event) and he was extremely rude and refused to interact with him. Brian says that he heard that Linus hates talking to other content creators that have less than a million Youtube subscribers.

- Linus also mistreated a fan in front of Brian, apparently refusing to talk to them and brushing them off.

- Brian says that Luke is always polite and friendly to people, however, in contrast to Linus.

I am sure these are legitimate observations so not panning the general thesis, but on the whole the Techtuber space seems like a crowd of chronically butthurt people with a chip on their shoulder. Hard to tell apart who is most parasocial: The individual Creators or their audiences.

How long before this drama spreads across that entire space. We already have signs: 1) The immature one upping of one another over the hottest takes on this subject 2) The cross-Creator feedback that borders clique nonsense 3) Obvious narcissism as some choose to make the predicament about themselves 4) Random bouts of defensiveness about whom each is friends with despite the rampant incest of content and audience 5) The misleading cheerfulness by some before the fallout has even begun

LTT may be a toxic place to work, I think that is irrefutable based on observations. I do wonder about the others as well. Arguably this all is an extended side effect of building channels adjacent to something the magnitude of LTT and it can be debated GN is quite intentionally shaking up the environment to break the grip. Makes me wonder what other receipts he has to feel so comfortable. Not that I don't see that this ultimately benefits him more in the longrun whether it can be fixed.

This is pretty funny in contrast to Steve who always likes to do videos with other content creators in the tech industry at events. I get these events are always pretty flatout to get as much filmed and shown as possible but part of that should also be the people there.

Bryan should have called this out more at the time than he did. He does the work with older "budget" parts and gives generally good information. Bringing it up years later when everyone is metoo'ing Linus doesn't help anyone except for drama bullshit. He's been known as the impartial fencesitter that comments late, though.

Spoiler: Findings

So my starting point was the Video in which Linus says that the Silver Play Button was in lot 881 at the auction. Finding an article (A) which linked to the Canadian auction site (A), by using Google Search Operators, I was able to find the page (A) for the lot itself. However, the problem is that the website doesn't provide any information on the bids itself (even when logged in) so this was a dead end for me.

Next step was to look at the Mind Chop channel, and associated twitter account and I noticed he liked a tweet by Linus to 'stop the harassment' (A -thanks Elon for making it harder to Archive, I'm tiny bit ). This sure does get the noggin' joggin', I mean for a guy who gets killed by dah internetz, he is aware of the tweet by Linus and has liked tweets afterwoods (although that was his last activity on any MindChop brand accounts). I found a post by the gimmick twitter account @reddit_lies (A) who claimed to have personally verifed that the guy didn't commit suicide so another roadblock as it's another episode of source: trust me bro.

Later I thought to checkout the Linkedin lead from Reddit.

A quick google search found a public profile (A), where MindChop is linked on the profile (redirecting to the YouTube); although the Mod said that it's not the same guy, I would imagine on a CV/Resume website, people would want links to be correct information; so this is him? I also had a look at the Reddit thread where the mod says that the Linkedin guy is someone else but there's nothing there in the comments or am I missing something so far?
