Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
Still haven't watched Cutress' video on shit because I know it's pure cancer and have to separate a persons options from what they know and do. Ironically that is what no pussy does to a nigga. Has Wendell from Level1Techs said shit about it yet? Or has he known from his days to shut the fuck up and let the spergs do the damage and walk away with what you can?

I'm still not sure we've understood each other, but the system in science, engineering etc. is that people get paid to do a PhD (with the money ultimately coming from the funding organisation, government or otherwise), and don't pay anything on top of what they previously paid for their earlier degrees, which could only be a Bachelor's degree, and in Burgerland and Bongland often is. It may be a poor financial decision for other reasons (e.g. delaying the start of a career), and some "PhD degrees" are just people being low-paid servants for professors who claim all the credit, but it's not the same as something like an MBA, where you are paying the university to (supposedly :optimistic:) get you a better job.

No I understood that. But I still think ultimately getting a PHD, be it in science or otherwise, does not equate to skill or intelligence. Just the ability and financial means to get through the course. Because even with being paid to earn it, you usually don’t get paid a full living wage

All the math and CS profs I've had always introduced themselves as casual firstname, and all the liberal arts profs I've had always made it a point to introduce themselves as DOCTOR whatever. It always reeked of insecurity. I guess math & CS profs are more secure in their intelligence, whereas liberal arts profs seem to be overcompensating for the public's percieved (correct) low opinion on their intelligence.
My astronomy professor in college was a PHD in astrophysics and the first day of class he requested that everyone call him only by his first name because he hated formality. But then said “if you truly can’t call me by my name, then call me Dr.[insert name] because if we have to be formal we might as well be full formal.”

Naturally no one ever called him anything but his first name as he requested. Probably the most chill, laid back professor I ever had. Dude had no superiority about him, he just genuinely loved astrophysics and was happy to be teaching it when not engaging in his research. He also said “if you’re curious, please ask me about my research any time after class” but I never took him up on that

I think people have already mentioned it here, but there are generally two kinds of people who go for postgrad education on any given subject:
1 - people who really like and are passionate about the subject at hand and want to learn more and more specific things about it.

2 - people who are looking for these extra degrees in order to get more "important" job opportunities/higher pay/job security (tenure).

There is some overlap between the two, but it's usually pretty easy to identify when a person belongs to just one camp there. Group 1 will usually dispense with the formalities, introduce themselves by their title, but be fine with anything so long as they're being referred to respectfully. Group 2 will usually act like insecure middle-managers and insist on their titles being used.

All the "Doctors" I had as professors would introduce themselves as such; but would follow up with "You can call me Mr./Mrs-X or [First-Name]." My favorite was my Statistics Professor, who said something like "I liked writing letters and numbers so much I didn't stop until the school threw me out and told me there was nothing left to teach me."
From my experience, only the Indian ones will insist on being called "Doctor". Back in the days I had a part-time job as a waiter and offended some Indian guy by calling him sir instead of "doctor". I then learnt that if you call them "Dr. something" they'll not only be happy, they'll give substantial tips. Especially if their colleagues and families were attending.

Tips to the younger kiwis. If you see Dr. Vagene Donotredeem on the reservation, better call him a doctor and collect your nice tip.

So this is their brilliant strategy - distract everyone with the debate on whether or not academics should be called doctors outside the classroom/workplace.

Still don't get why people are surprised when LTT shills NVIDIA benchmarks is not anything new.
I don't take LTT seriously when buying anything related to computers i see more as a entertaiment channel about computers than a serious computer channel where i can get best price/value components.
The reason is that Linus has a massive platform with over 10 million subscribers, and he is a spastic retard who doesn't understand how much power he holds. If he ends up saying that "All of AMD's products are garbage don't buy them", a lot of consumers will take that as gospel. So Linus should be more conscious of what he's saying because it can lead to a lot of brand reputation damage as we've seen in the last few weeks.

And don't try to argue that Linus' viewers should be smarter. They are normies, they don't understand this shit, and you can't blame them for not understanding it and taking what the biggest name on YouTube has to say about it, because they don't know any better. The fault is on Linus for being irresponsible with his reach and making dumb blunders that can result in a lot of bad PR for a company because Linus doesn't understand he's not running a small YouTube channel from his garage anymore.

When you have an audience of millions, and that audience isn't too bright, you don't shift the blame on the audience for what you've said. That's the exact type of blame shifting and gaslighting that Linus would do.

This has been my short-lived journey on the MindChop and whether he has passed away or whether it was a shitpost by some random guy. TL;DW, I belived that he moved on from YouTube (assuming that's his LinkedIn) and that OP (A) was a LARP, although Linus had responded two hours after the OP.
My guess it that the post was indeed written by the father and largely accurate, except that instead of suicide it was actually divorce.

The father must be a next level autist to not just buy his son a YouTube channel but also try and keep the illusion alive buying play buttons.

And on top of that, LTT's content is not educational to the average person, it's entertainment with jargon thrown in. Hilariously, a lot of friends they invite in their videos struggle with the basics building a PC- even their co-workers who see these things every day!
I know if you're a cameraman, designer or work in marketing it should absolutely not be your job to learn things on top of your actual work, but they work with Linus on this channel and content, evaluate the videos and their success and no information stuck with them, when they help with PC building they seem scared.

Assuming the suicide story is fake (or at least unproven), then us Farmers should probably cut Linus just the tiniest amount of slack and not make a big deal out of these claims.

If anyone knows about being victimised by internet hate mobs over suicides that never happened, it's us.

It's "entertainment" in its loosest possible sense.

LTT is basically Season 23 of Top Gear, only with high-end PC components instead of high-end cars, and a lead presenter that makes Chris Evans look likable.

Most people in the thread seem to be lapping up everything Ian said and now hating on Steve. And because Ian is a DOCTOR, in their minds what he's said must be 100% correct.
Unfortunately, LTT fans proving the old saying, you give an inch, and they go a mile. Ian is being neutral, but that's what they want, something to punch down GN with just so Linus is on top no matter what.
Anyone got the video DumbTips just released? Seems to be only on Cuckplane

It JUST came out fifty minutes ago. Give it a night and chances are Linus will upload to Youtube.

Just released

Strangely the original link is different and privated:

Edit, he's trying really hard to sound professional and conciliatory.

pyramid symbolism by the 1:30 mark, alert the schizo crew

2 minutes in and it's a bunch of bad corporate speak and euphemisms "encouraging us as we navigate this difficult time" sounds like a shitty democrat media slogan fucking cringe.

Edit2, some harsh words for you abusive tranthony disrespecters. You are officially NOT MEMBERS OF THE LDT COMMUNITY. They've had to DOUBLE the insurance coverage at gender celebration / xanax clinic because of all you TROLL TERRORISTS AND CYBERVERMIN!!!!!!!!

I'm sure some autists here will pick apart the video in more detail but one thing that stood out to me is that as of this year, no alcohol at company events and no alcohol at work-sponsored employee-organized events as mandated by insurance company. Was BPD retard groped at an alcohol-fueled company event?

I'm surprised he's uploading videos, this soon. Especially doing another WAN show to boot. This is way too early to be "back".
New video is corpo sludge. Avoids mentioning anything specific, including the copper heat plate they stole. They also did not apologize for shitting on GN.
The Troon Tips nonstop copium binge continues.

They made entire segment about "mental health" where Linus said his employees were getting "bullied on social media" and that they will get even more money for mental care now. LOL
Expect more trannies in LTT. Anyone who cares about mean shit on the internet, shouldn't be on it. They should EXPECT it as a fucking public figures, their pathetic boss made them pseudo ecelebs, and they signed up for it applying for a job at LMG.

Also, their podcast is live now, it started at almost the same moment as video got published:

Yea, skimmed through it and no direct mention of billet labs and no mention of gamer nexus. Also the accuracy criticism and loss of items are the shortest parts of the video. Most of it is dedicated to the work-culture, work hours, and HR stuff. Whatever PR team they've hired did a good job scripting his lines, and it will be more than enough to douse the flames. Lemmings love this gay shit.

Most interesting part for me was his mention of employee benefits like insurance and modern tech teamwork shit (bowling and dave and busters). I suppose this was to address why employees shouldn't unionize.

Guy has done this apology faux-sincerity stuff for so many years he has a default facial expression.

edit: someone should make a mosaic of all these youtube people making the same expression in their apology videos.

Edit#2: 30 minutes into the WAN show and they are pretending like it never happened. Zero mention or addressing controversy so far. Maybe they will talk about it at the end, but there's no way a person can watch this for a few minutes.

Example of the general tone of the chat. Mods are deleting everything related to Madison on twitch.
Looks like the anti-linus sentiment is slightly more popular.

Lots of people in chat think this is pre-recorded. It definitely isn't, Linus is showing his screen and the chat corresponds with the video

They didn't steal the copper plate, Billet originally said they could keep it and then wanted it back once they said they were going to auction it

You can argue that, after they were told they wanted it back, not giving it back is 'stealing' but I think it speaks more to the piss poor management of LTT than actual malicious intent. Just my 2c. Video sucked though, I'm sure this isn't the last LTT dramastorm of the year. If anything, it's only the beginning.
