Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2
Don't look all that similar, plus this guy on the right has a personal website detailing his time as a student in the same period as when the auctions would've taken place, and his website never mentions MindChop in any capacity (despite it still having links to old NewGrounds projects from a decade ago). It's not on his resume on his website, it's not on his portfolio... why wouldn't he highlight owning and operating a 1 million subscriber Youtube channel? Because he was probably an editor/writer like his LinkedIn says.
It doesn't add up that he'd (allegedly) buy a million subscribers, buy a silver Youtube Play Button at an auction, list his association with MindChop on his LinkedIn, but only call himself an editor/writer who only worked on about half the videos. He'd call himself owner, operator, and so on.

That may be the case that he was a previous contributor or worked with the guy (small world lel). But the evidence for some dude suicide is circumstantial, fuck knows especially when trying to use removeddit on the OP (alleged father) is difficult when it wasn't caught in time. It would be reported (assuming the father wants to) that there's a suicide linked to Cyber Bullying or at least noted. Although I'm new to this so it could be just my lack of skill to look up.
I'm surprised it's been 7 days and they haven't uploaded a video, not even their dogshit level "10 tech toys at Target" or "Here's an outdated development PC for 3rd gen consoles."
The quality thing makes me rememeber about their AMD 30 day GPU challenge that they basically gave up on because Linus removed the GPU from his home PC because he wanted to play Tears of the Kingdom without screen tear, completely screwing up the process.
You're looking at 50k lost from Floatplane so far and at least 70k from sponsor slots in their videos, not to mention refunding or pausing sponsors on videos set to go out that might be time sensitive. So at a minimum 120k lost so far, probably 200k, and unless the whales come to his defense merch sales probably stalled hard. Day of the rake, leaf.
Linus also mistreated a fan in front of Brian, apparently refusing to talk to them and brushing them off.
- Brian says that Luke is always polite and friendly to people, however, in contrast to Linus.

They're waiting for the hate to die down and want their come back video to be of much higher quality than the usual dogshit they've been pumping out. If the come back video is positively received, it will put them in a much stronger position with sponsorships moving forward than they would with a poorly received low effort video. I think the hate has died down significantly. Take a look at the Reddit thread on Ian Cutress's video: https://www.reddit.com/r/LinusTechT..._ian_cutress_the_problem_with_tech_media_ego/
Most people in the thread seem to be lapping up everything Ian said and now hating on Steve. And because Ian is a DOCTOR, in their minds what he's said must be 100% correct.

They're entitled to their opinions of course, but the criticism fails to point out that so is Steve. They're mostly angry he was too effective at his research (and cut throat) and how badly it damaged the credibility of their favorite entertaining Creator. I don't see how anyone particularly overlooked how ruthless GN's content and approach tends to be as it's this reputation that made him such an influence. There wouldn't be such a response from the community baying for blood either direction, otherwise.
If the shoe were on the other foot and Linus was in the position of knocking down problematic pins in his own Techtuber demographic, his community would reappoint him as their King like some kind of savior.
Steve, on the other hand, may as well be looking behind his back for the rest of his life for some idiot with a screwdriver or an "upstanding member" of the TechTuber community coming back at him with negative clickbait. I mainly kid on the former, but the latter is almost a certainty.
In science it's virtually unheard of to pay for a doctorate.* The usual arrangement is that PhD students get paid out of a grant (from government or industry) that the professor supervising the student applied for, which also pays the university fees and the professor him/herself.
Somebody suggested he worked for ten years on his PhD. The usual amount of time in Bongland is at most four years, possibly three at Oxford or Cambridge.
*The only paid-for doctorates I've heard of are retired people who use their savings to self-fund their own pet project.
More generally (no longer replying to LiquidKid here), when somebody had a PhD it means they passed through the bare minimum to become a professor, and in some cases have just been used as a low-paid servant of a professor for his/her research project. Nobody who is an expert on a subject,** in academia or outside, would use "he has a PhD" to indicate someone is infallibly right on some subject, because experience will have shown them many people who passed through the PhD process but are nonetheless full of shit.
**except the type of idiot I am about to describe.

You misunderstood me. I wasn’t implying he or anyone else purchased their doctorate outright.
I was saying that going to school long enough to get one is really just a sign of being financially able to go through a doctorate program rather than actually being an authority on the subject. College degrees in general are just financial fate keep and mean little for one’s skill or intelligence. Whether they had to spend a lot on the degree, or they could afford to spend time studying instead of working.
I'm still not sure we've understood each other, but the system in science, engineering etc. is that people get paid to do a PhD (with the money ultimately coming from the funding organisation, government or otherwise), and don't pay anything on top of what they previously paid for their earlier degrees, which could only be a Bachelor's degree, and in Burgerland and Bongland often is. It may be a poor financial decision for other reasons (e.g. delaying the start of a career), and some "PhD degrees" are just people being low-paid servants for professors who claim all the credit, but it's not the same as something like an MBA, where you are paying the university to (supposedly ) get you a better job.
In the post Linus also claimed they already reached an agreement with Billet Labs over the component, but it was worded in such a way that it seems like they did so prior to the Gamer’s Nexus video, which according to Billet labs and Gamers Nexus, is false; though by the time of writing this, it would have been true; it just seems like it was worded in a way that came off as it was done so before the video.
I can’t see Linus’ post as “worded in a way that came off as [if] it was done so before the video”, but instead an outright lie that it was, especially when read in its full context.
The paragraph in question (underlines mine):
To Steve, I expressed my disappointment that he didn’t go through proper journalistic practices in creating this piece. He has my email and number (along with numerous other members of our team) and could have asked me for context that may have proven to be valuable (like the fact that we didn’t ‘sell’ the monoblock, but rather auctioned it for charity due to a miscommunication… AND the fact that while we haven’t sent payment yet, we have already agreed to compensate Billet Labs for the cost of their prototype). There are other issues, but I’ve told him that I won’t be drawn into a public sniping match over this and that I’ll be continuing to move forward in good faith as part of ‘Team Media’. When/if he’s ready to do so again I’ll be ready.
Leaving the relevant parts, removing the unrelated statement before the “AND”:
He has my email and number and could have asked me for context that may have proven to be valuable (like the fact while we haven’t sent payment yet, we have already agreed to compensate Billet Labs for the cost of their prototype).
Given that the communication about the cost was was done after GN uploaded the video, it would have been impossible for the context of “we have already agreed to compensate Billet Labs for the cost of their prototype” to have be true before the video had been uploaded.
I listened that whole Dr Ian video (while doing other stuff, so probably missed some parts) and it's "okay".
It didn't really add anything for anyone who has followed the situation closely and is aware of all the stupid details (yay me!). A lot of his clarifications were very useless - GN constructing a sentence in a certain way matters FAR LESS than anyone hating/disliking him to begin with or wanting LTT to fail.
One thing I have an issue with is how he criticized GN for his stupid "journalistic" standards. I sort of agree... but the point is 1) Steve is not a journalist, and 2) this is internet drama.
Coffeezilla may be the one that is regarded as a "youtube journalist" and if you watch his videos closely, most of his sources are actually court papers...
This is fine, it is very rare for journalists to uncover something completely new - he seems to add new things, and sometime actually uncovers stuff (although again, he does usually credit other people for the blackchain research). However a lot of people seem to believe that he finds out everything by himself, which is just not true
Linus complaining that Steve did not contact him for comment is also dumb when Ian, PhD brings it up.
This very smart doctor also wanted to provide some special insight into how Steve is not fair in his criticism of impartiality. Other "reactions" that I have watched, not made by doctors, are actually more receptive of the fact that widely no one cared about those accusations and just summarised this whole point pretty much like I did now. The stupid prole decided to ignore that part of the GN video because it was a really weak part of the video. Thus, sure, I agree with Ian that what Steve said was a bit out there, but most people came to that conclusion themselves without needing it to have it explained by them.
The trigger warning was as cringe as the intro where he spent entire minutes to tell the viewer how smart he is because he understands grammar.
On Madison - I don't understand his point on "safety". Me believing her or not has no impact on her physical safety. Sure, if a woman is screaming for help, you are likely going to believe the person asking for help and not go with a "innocent until proven guilty!" mindset and let the guy finish [TRIGGER WARNING] raping a woman, because maybe they are roleplaying!
This is not what is happening now. Madison is safely at home, in a different country, not working at LTT anymore. She is safe.
If she doesn't want to hear opinions that may offend her, she can block DMs and not go online under her own name.
Ian is not helping with the believability of the accusations she made. He makes them sound so graphic and terrible [TRIGGER WARNING!!!] when listening to the news you hear much worse things happening everyday. I am not saying they are not serious and mean nothing, just that there is a difference between what she said happened ("grabbed" and some general assault not defined in detail, which could mean anything) and being raped.
As you can see in this thread too, some people have the impression that the accusations she made are all for attention and clearly not believable. In reality, if you read Madison's tweets and have watched enough LTT videos... they sound really realistic and not exaggerated. From the first few pages of this thread we have been talking about how bad the environment must be at LTT, especially for women and those who don't want to hear sex jokes 24/7.
Let's not lose sight that the Steve and Linus video is internet drama. Also Madison's accusations are mostly drama. The one potential legal issue is that she mentions how Linus announced publicly she applied for a job (IANAL - she says it's illegal), which is not exactly the most exciting thing to talk about (also there is video evidence he did it, so little debate on "it happened or not"...)
I've had their cope video open in a tab since it dropped and have refreshed to check the like/dislike ratio from time to time. Today the dislikes finally overtook the likes. The normies are not happy.
Anyway, re. Doctor Ian Cutress, PhD: if you're on an aeroplane, and someone starts to die, and the staff shout 'is there a doctor on the plane?', would you be able to actually help? Or would you shout 'I'M A DOCTOR' then have to spend ten minutes explaining how actually your doctorate is in analytical science, and of no help at all, while a man slowly chokes on his own vomit?
If it's the latter, don't be a pretentious cunt and call yourself Dr. Doctor Ian. If it's the former, you're probably quite secure in your abilities and don't need that validation (and once you get really good at doctorin', everyone is supposed to call you 'Mister' anyway.)
All the math and CS profs I've had always introduced themselves as casual firstname, and all the liberal arts profs I've had always made it a point to introduce themselves as DOCTOR whatever. It always reeked of insecurity. I guess math & CS profs are more secure in their intelligence, whereas liberal arts profs seem to be overcompensating for the public's percieved (correct) low opinion on their intelligence.

Seems more likely that Kyle worked for "Mindchop Productions". Given how Canadian taxes work (high earning self employed pay far less incorporated), I guessed he might have a corporation and was correct https://opencorporates.com/companies/ca_bc/BC1053104. Registered in BC which unfortunately means we can't see the director list online (would give name / address), but that should rule out the Ontarian.
https://free.bcpublications.ca/civix/document/id/corpreg/corpreg/crpn0412fin0818 (CRTL -F mindchop). The company was dissolved in April 2018 by non filing, in BC owners of corporations are required to file an "annual return" (different from tax return) every year, if they don't for 2 years they'll get dissolved by the government. At minimum he hasn't filed his annual returns since 2016, no conclusive evidence.

All the "Doctors" I had as professors would introduce themselves as such; but would follow up with "You can call me Mr./Mrs-X or [First-Name]." My favorite was my Statistics Professor, who said something like "I liked writing letters and numbers so much I didn't stop until the school threw me out and told me there was nothing left to teach me."
For fuck's sake lady, I call degrees fancy pieces of paper, but that's what you say about your PhD?
