I was kind of a nerd in High School and really hit my stride in college (at which point I did alright). That being said, if you're a 45 year old man and talking about 'fingerbanging' a chick a decade ago, there's something very wrong with your situation.
If you go through an extended dry spell, at some point you need to start evaluating yourself and taking corrective action.
Lucas doesn't do that, it's always some external force (ageism, bigotry etc) keeping him down. He's the victim and he can't see that he's not bringing anything to the table.
My wife and I met the day after I got laid off in 2008 and I didn't hold a steady job for the first year we were dating. That being said, I had a mortgage and I made my mortgage rewiring classic cars, flipping junkers on Craigslist and occasionally running a pressure washer.
