Regarding him leaving Spokane, as terrible as it is for the folks there, the benefit of him staying is that at least he's in a community that seems highly aware of his presence now and all those folks who are aware are watching out for each other and for his targets. Indeed if he went to a larger city he could become even more of a threat, even after his presence is known.
I imagine if he gets banned from enough local businesses, though, he's bound to move on being that it's cold and he's being restricted from places he can skulk about trying to pitch his magical telomerase to young feeeemales. I doubt he'd go out of WA, are there other small cities around there that'd be prime? College towns?
there's not much in eastern WA really. the nearby towns are more conservative than hell; he'd be sleeping outside and possibly murdered on the rez; Idaho is to the east and there's nothing but tiny conservative towns to the direct west. it's five hours to Seattle on the highway...
Spokane itself is a dumpster fire and pretty conservative compared to western WA, I moved here from coastal Oregon and it was a serious culture shock. I lived in Seattle for decade plus and can't imagine him coming here from Olympia and not being totally stunned. Oly has good services for the homeless, there's a big population of them there for exactly that reason. it's hard to even find publicly-available drinking water here, let alone a place to sleep outdoors.
also the police here are more aggressive. I'm pretty surprised he hasn't been picked up yet.
for the community's same I would love him to just go, for his sake I think he is in considerable danger here that he wouldn't be in, in Seattle/Olympia. people here concealed carry, are not liberal in general. it's an area with lots of hunting, lots more machismo than the blue cities on the coast.
also with no real mental health services and few homeless resources, it's only a matter of time before a police confrontation.
I think the community here is in a bit more danger as well, because of all this. if he does attack some poor barista or student walking to the library, she's less likely to report to police, less likely to be treated well here. victim services in Spokane are as shitty as everything else.
Olympia was likely the best place for him all things considered, plus it's a much smaller town and it would be easier to keep an eye on him in that community. here, there's a group of businesses trying to coordinate to keep their employees safe, but nowhere near ALL OF the local businesses are aware and active in that. there's just too many of them for us to really do anything. it's mostly smaller businesses organizing this way.
