Good to see that Marathon is so irrelevant that it's own thread got turned into Destiny spergatory lmfao
I hate Destiny with a passion. The most soulless cash grab for mouthbreathing retards. The absolute best example of why the games industry is headed downhill rapidly.
I could not care fucking less about Destiny's faggy lore. I like a midget pretending to be a robot. I shoot aliens. I am happy.
Exactly my point. Goyslop for braindead retards.

Remember when games had in depth and interesting lore? A couple of guys coding in their basements have produced higher quality story lines than the teams of writers at Bungie, Blizzard, Sony, all the big AAA studios.

Hell, people STILL make videos discussing the nuances and implications of Half-Life's lore. That game came out in 1998.

It's crazy, looking back, that Bungie turned down an offer to continue making Halo games(likely still making good ones even after Reach) only to make something as soulless as Destiny. Then, when that well dried up, they dug up Marathon's corpse and flopped miserably, one trick pony. Can't dig up Halo's corpse, 343i isn't done playing with it yet either!
Anyways, yeah not a great decision. You can say what you want about Infinity Ward and Treyarch being turned into Call of Duty mills, but at least they still make decent change for not that much work, guaranteed profits.

Not every game has to be some cinematic autistic lore JRPG. It can just be fun to shoot things.
I remember them hyping up the game as an apocalyptic battle for earth and the next thing I know I'm on a halo ring... fucking sad.
Peril makes all of Halo 2's sins forgiveable.

Snipers have always been broken. Welcome to FPS games yet again.
I like it better when snipers are more like a supporting harassment class. The sniper won't one-shot a team/group but it keeps them on their toes no matter if it hits or not, it forces them to change their location or draws them into angrily engaging with the spot the sniper seems to be which leaves them open for the rest of your team.

But I also think hit scan weapons should be lower powered compared to things that makes you lead the target, like the UT example someone made.

People forget that people played Destiny and Destiny 2 not just because of the shitty story and lore but because it was fun to run around and shoot things.

I think a lot of people expect games to be masterpieces when they can just be average or even bad as long as people have fun with them.

There were plenty of shitty games that I've played through the years that I enjoyed that others didn't and vice versa. That doesn't make every none master piece Goyslop or whatever

OH GOD

Was Destiny fun, tho? It looked like a generic gaylo clone with faggy MMO elements even at it's peak. Maybe that's just enough for some people, I remember I was given it for free back when that game was still on Battle Net, some free trial or something, and even then it didn't look like it was worth my time.

Marathon is so fucking awesome that we find ourselves in passionate arguments about two dead Destiny games. Good job Bungo
What's there to talk about that wasn't already done in this thread? Not like the game got magically better just because they swept up some plagiarized twitter tranny artstyle at the last minute. Maybe we can resurrect the retarded "is this game copying Mirror's Edge art direction?" argument some half-wit redditors were angry about a few months back.
Right around the time Highguard was shat out and died out, too. Dare I say, Concord 3.0?

I know it's the gay answer but we won't really know how much a failure this game is until it launches. Launches on Thursday and then it has a day to get its player count before we start seeing declines.

Highguard started bleeding players like a day after launch

maybe they shouldn't be spending millions of dollars hiring top of the line famous voice actors, in that case. Just a thought.

I only played it because a "friend" bought it for me on release so we could play together. He didn't even stick around long enough to finish the first raid with me, let alone any of the DLC.
I hated every second of it.

most of what i remember from Destiny 2 was the slog. Everything about the game felt like a slog. I was promised that the raids in the post game would make it worthwhile, but trying to tard wrangle for a group to actually finish made me put the game down forever.
Seems like I'm in the minority on the Destiny 2 hate in this thread, but I stand by my opinion.

And discussion around Halo and its impact on the game industry. What impact has post-halo bungie had? Plagiarism? Scamming? Lawsuits?

Maybe it's because the servers shut down 4 hours ago?
The games servers shut down that fast? Way before the game even came out?

Concord eat your heart out, kek.

So this is why I think Marathon may keep a player base of at least 10k

There are currently only 2 teams of trios playing Trials of Osiris in the entire world and they are fighting against one another over and over again in an eternal battle of who can get a better roll on a weapon they’re never going to use

D2 Competitive PVP retards desperately need someplace to go, to the point where they'll accept anything. It's why they all gravitated towards Arc before the devs started murdering the PVP in that game.

Aztecross is a great example of this, man has been chasing the "This game is so it" high since last year.

Shit got so bad he's even started playing the Division 2

Which is funny because he's very bad at pvp in D2, ARC and Marathon.
I play when I can with a full-time job and I'm leagues better than him
I think Cross is more an example of a D2 fan/creator who's realized too late that his main revenue stream is pretty much gone.

I didn't mean to imply that he's primarily a PVP player, he's not, but he IS a player that had a very set Destiny schedule up until very recently.

Every weekday would be build battles, going over some seasonal shit that came out or weapon reviews for new/changed exotics or legendary weapons.

Maybe he'd do videos on new content like dungeons or raids and so on.

Then the weekend would hit and he'd pretty much only stream whatever the weekend pvp event was, unless there was something like arms week that replaced it.

Destiny 2 is very much a dead game now.

It has 8,000 players on steam currently, it's overall player count across everything is 167,000 according to popularity report.

Thats terrible. Yes it keeps the game "alive" but for anyone that's actually played the game, especially PVP the game feels dead even though cross play is enabled by default.

The Division 2 has 9k players on steam and feels more alive than Destiny 2 does, hell Titan Fall 2 doesn't have cross play and has 800 people on steam right now and it feels more alive than Destiny 2
