It changes nothing, it's just a way to explain how you can race upside down.I find it funny how the anti-gravity gimmick is so pointless they didn't even try to retrofit the new DLC tracks with it.![]()

It is probably the most superfluous gimmick Mario Kart's ever done. Fun, but easily replaceable. It changes nothing, it's just a way to explain how you can race upside down.
It's not even a gimmick it's just an animation for your wheels. If you removed it, the game would still play the same.It is probably the most superfluous gimmick Mario Kart's ever done. Fun, but easily replaceable.
Smash had a competitive scene that elevated it above Kart. With Double Dash, most of its fans were the same ones that shout GC #1. Melee had broader appeal that left the Nintendo sperging circle as it was an underdog making its way into tournaments and fighting Nintendo’s censorship.Smash Brothers had more popularity than Double Dash. So it must've been something with DD in particular.
Some levels such as the Toad town made use of it for some cool shortcuts, but most of gimmick was purely visual. It's not even a gimmick it's just an animation for your wheels. If you removed it, the game would still play the same.
The vehicle doesn't even behave or act differently like in Diddy Kong Racing where you could pick a hovercraft or an airplane.
That's wrong. You're an idiot. The vehicle doesn't even behave or act differently
Uh... there's two unique boost mechanics when you are in hover mode and your vehicle's handling changes. And it also opened up the level design options. It's not even a gimmick it's just an animation for your wheels. If you removed it, the game would still play the same.

Disagree only because Super Circuit on GBA. It's borderline unplayable.Mario Kart for the SNES is shit and the worst Mario Kart game in the franchise.
The multiplayer could probably still pass as fun if it was the only Mario Kart you had, but it really is just running on nostalgic value.Disagree only because Super Circuit on GBA. It's borderline unplayable.
Though SNES aged poorly and really isn't worth much more than its nostalgia value
I don't get what everyone's issue is with Sonic R.Sega's take on Mario Kart, save Sonic R,..
Basically what you said. It's unbalanced and short. Imagine racing as Joan Crawford in a 39 Caddy against Marylin Monroe in a 58 Thunderbird. And then the game ends. FOH.I don't get what everyone's issue is with Sonic R.
In hindsight, the Wii really delivered on a lot of games. The Wii U's library was decent but nothing compared to Galaxy, MKWii, Wii Sports+Resort, Donkey Kong Country Returns etc.Mario Kart Wii was THE reason I wanted a Wii. To me, it is the killer app for that console.
I will stand by the fact that the Wii was above pretty much all of Nintendo's other consoles. The only one that might one up it for me is the Switch thanks to the stellar first year and 2019 titles. In hindsight, the Wii really delivered on a lot of games. Hey, I appreciate Nintendo with continuing to support Mario Kart 8. Even IF it's recycled content.I do enjoy Mario Kart 8 and will most likely get the DLC, again for nostalgia reasons.
Honestly same. I never expected it to be honest. I didn't expect a new game outright either, I thought they were just going to let it sit until the next Nintendo console comes out, whenever that may be.Hey, I appreciate Nintendo with continuing to support Mario Kart 8. With the pandemic and chip shortages, this is the next best thing. At least Nintendo was upfront with this approach. More life with your game at a price. I HOPE it's a fair price.Honestly same.
