Aguila Super Extra tends to be alright for plinking. i've had good experience with Remington Golden Bullets and Federal Champion (even Thunderbolts), but your mileage may vary. Eley/Norma makes good stuff if you're just shooting standard velocity and aren't using a semi-auto. a good rule of thumbe with all .22LR ammunition (or most rimfire ammunition in general) buy just a small box and test it out in a specific firearm first. some manufacturers have recommended ammunition or velocities/weights to use. some can be picky with OAL, powder charge, bullet shape, et c.

Any suggestions for good mag holders? I'm tired of sitting on my spare in my offside back pocket.

I'm in the process of building a dedicated 22LR (my first .22, believe it or not). What's some ammo to be on the lookout for?

I've always hear CCI MiniMags are good. Anything else?
Personally never put bald lead 22lr through any semi-auto. Always go for the jacketed ones, they feed a lot better and that's like half the headaches.

Sorry. Concealed carry pistol magazine.
I wouldn't bother. DGUs are overwhelmingly within 10 yards and over in four shots. Everyone always tries to argue themselves into a box on why they need an extra magazine in case Invasion USA happens in their town and they're Chuck Norris but the truth is you will never use it.

If you find yourself in a situation as a civilian where you're in a gunfight and need a mag change, you need a rifle to begin with.

That being said, do what you want but statistics bear out that it's a pointless measure.

I agree with you, but the magazine is the thing most likely to fail. Carrying an extra is just a habit I've had for decades now.

I use an older model Safariland velcro attachment that looks like an old cell phone case. It adjusts so never had an issue with that and retention is fine.

It's not cool, tactical, or high speed but it's durable and it works and it's comfortable.

What kind of firearm is this? Are you looking for reliability or accuracy? Do you plan on getting a suppressor for it?

I own a couple of .22LR rifles for plinking, a couple of .22LR pistols and I have a couple of rifles that are definitely designated what I would call "target rifles". Incidentally I highly reccomend Savage if you are going bolt action Rimfire they make some very nice stuff, with outstanding factory triggers. I beleive the Ruger 10/22 is capable of good accuracy for a semi-auto Rimfire but, it needs a bull barrel and at least the BX-25 trigger if not a premium aftermarket trigger.

CCI minimags are very reliable tend to run well in all semi-auto Rimfire guns. I have found the most accurate .22 ammo is ALWAYS heavily greased from the factory. AR-Tactical CCI stuff looks kinda gimmicky but is very accurate for the price point imho. For maximum accuracy I have found Eley to be the most accurate ammo that is factory available, I have tested this quite a bit with a bolt action savage rifle.

Plinking mostly, out to at most 100 yards. No whisper pickles in my state. No desire to hunt, though if the world ends it might be nice to have a gat that can take rabbits without nuking then like 5.56.

How'd I do for 800 and a free box of ammo fellow farmers

CCI brand tends to be the best, Mini mags are very reliable, like I said the "AR-tactical" stuff appears gimmicky and stupid but, it's of very high qaulity for the price it sells at, not to mention very commonly available all over the US. The trick to .22LR plinking ammo is to just find something that runs right and then buy it in bulk. .22LR only gets complicated if you are trying to find something that fills a special role. Finding .22LR that is both subsonic AND reliable in a semi-auto can be something of a challenge, if you are looking for maximum accuracy Norma/Eley are the best imho.

Also, fun fact.
A few days ago, I was enjoying a (several) nice glass of one of my favorite whiskys the fiance brought home. Was out doing chores, when out on the property, I usually carry my old S&W 5 screw in 38spl on my hip for varmints. Had come back in, so unloaded the gun. She asked me to take our 91 Seville (Caddy with the Good Hair, not the Northstar variant) out to put gas in it.
I'm not too drunk, our local gas station is only a five minute drive. Nice little place owned by a respectable pajeet family.
Go down, notice that the windows and one door glass are now replaced by plywood.
Walk in, notice the two most wiggerest wiggers to exist standing at the register. Straight up look like characters from the Boondocks.
Usually keep a light jacket or button down over my carry, but also a little drunk, so don't notice it's on full display.
Fresh off some work in the field, so look like uncle yokel's hokel pokel.
I go up to the counter, and the two wiggers have airsoft guns in their waistbands (cheap looking, so I hope) that they have their hands on.
Nice pajeet son looks worried.

They're buying papers, and they keep asking how many people are working there that day.
Indian dude looks down at my exposed revolver, 2 wiggers look down at my exposed revolver, and then decide "Yeah, just the papers then."
Pay and leave. I realize that I had not replaced the bullets before heading out. Realize how absolutely fucked I would have been had they had iron and weren't cowards..
Pajeet is thankful.

I go home.
Moral of the story, do not leave your house with no bullets, kiwis. My asshole was tight the whole way home.

Looks like all he needs is a proper pedestal mount, not a freely-rotating gimbal joint; something with adjustable T&E that can be locked for individual planes of movement.

The drones that would really worry me are those highly manuverable kamikaze FPV types, which would be a nightmare to hit with most anything, even a belt-fed LMG with optics. In that case I'd be reaching for a scattergun.

I dunno, for anti-drone pickets I'd probably want magnum turkey loads, or maybe #4 buck.

As a fan of Eastern firearms I would love to see these in action, they just have that odd 1960s sci-fi look to them.
The Japanese make good shit, and it looks sexy. Get it, it's mag fed, can't really go wrong
It's ironic that Japan makes such quality firearms despite there being a general lack of them in their society. People point to Japan and say America should be like them but fail to understand how different their society actually is.
That little grippy grabber that pulls new rounds off the magazine looks flimsy as shit. I really appreciate the innovation of this flipper baby of a rifle, but I'm just saying that thing would fatigue crack so fuckin' fast. I always wondered how that thing worked, anyway, I don't think I've seen a cutaway of it before.
It definitely looks cool enough to be featured in some kind of Soviet themed retro sci-fi though, but yes I don't think it would have lasted as an actual combat rifle for most regular troops. The Bakelite shell concerns me more as far as durability is concerned.
So, Century Arms has brought back the 5.56 WASR-3 for the first time in about a decade. Unfortunately, it appears to have that Century Arms "quality."

How does Century Arms even remain in business? They should have gone under a decade ago at least.
It's always stood out to me that I have literally never seen an Indian who owned a gun in my life. I see plenty of whites, blacks, hispanics, and asians at the ranges I go to who own and shoot their own guns at the very least, even if most of them probably don't vote pro 2A. But I've never seen an Indian show up to a range with his own gun. At the most, a pack of H1Bs will head bobble their way into the range, rent a gun or two, and take turns taking photos of each other shooting it. Meanwhile the current administration is loosening restrictions for more visas from India and there's so many coming in that anti caste discrimination laws are beginning to be a thing in cities.
There is an Indians for Guns community online but it's largely catering to those in India, I would assume most aren't familiar with that part of our culture in the US.

Yeah being caught with an empty firearm is probably worse than none at all in that situation.

Because they have a monopoly on cheap AK imports via their contract with Cugir/ROMARM. Even though they're more expensive than they were a few years ago, WASR's are still cheaper than Arsenal or Zastava guns.
