never shot 357 sig but have found it interesting round. how has your experience been shooting it?I'm surprised he was willing to pay the money for one considering the worse-than-airsoft tier accessories he put on his Glock.
I'll shamefully admit what when I was younger and knew much less about firearms I almost bought a Five Seven. Instead the dumbest gun I ever bought was a P229 in .357 Sig because I figured anything the US Air Marshals use must be a great gun.
I have a G31 and its about on par with .40 recoil wise. I personally don't shoot it much but will bring it hiking if the area has bears. I would love a Mauser M2 in .357sig purely as a collector piece.never shot 357 sig but have found it interesting round. how has your experience been shooting it?
I was a poorfag that winced every time I took it to the range and while a powerful round (I'd argue better than .40 in every way) it's not enough to justify the rarity of ammo, weapon selection and recoil IMO.never shot 357 sig but have found it interesting round. how has your experience been shooting it?
Who doesn't, I just prefer mine with a few more modern conveniences, like rifling and percussion caps. What wonderful technology, I wonder what will come next.Does anyone here still use a musket for home defense

Did you get one of the kit guns or just buy the finished rifle somewhere? Been thinking of getting one to extend deer season and have a sick wall hanger. I wanted to put one together myself, but I don't know which kit to get.Who doesn't, I just prefer mine with a few more modern conveniences, like rifling and percussion caps. I too learned to hate that stock. One came on a POF Renegade Plus that I bought in 2018. Lived with it a for a little bit but then swapped it out for something much better. Why does anyone like that thing?

finished rifle, on midwayusa. I didn't have the space at the time to build the kit also I was lazy.Did you get one of the kit guns or just buy the finished rifle somewhere? Does anyone know what VFG's they were using in the late 90's/early 2000's for M16's with the quad rail? I'm trying to keep my AR setup period accurate.
As a gun guy that's actually a hard one.Did I make a bad decision trading a ruger SR556 for a 1901 production winchester 1894 in 30WCF (30-30) for you youngins.
Local shop had some mil-surp "LMT SOPMOD" US Contractor made stocks for $50, I picked one up about a month ago, and I'll probably swing by and get another.I just run M4 waffle stocks.
Probably not much if you are just mag dumping it.
Wide stocks don’t fit my face. I don’t really notice any difference with other stocks to justify the extra cost and weight.Local shop had some mil-surp "LMT SOPMOD" US Contractor made stocks for $50, I picked one up about a month ago, and I'll probably swing by and get another.
Not a bad upgrade over the mil spec waffle, imho.
what does the brass look like? are there visible striations or ripples? is the fired case showing rim tear or deformation at all? is there any noticeable cracking at the neck or shoulder? It worked fine for the first 300-350 rounds but now I have to use a brass 12 gauge brush to clean the chamber/throat every 30ish rounds.
The fired brass shows no structural issues/abnormalities if it ejects without issue. If the case sticks in the chamber, the last 1/3 of it towards the case head is sooty (I'll upload a pic later).for the chamber, can a 3/8" dowel with 1 layer of paper wrapped around it move smoothly against the chamber walls? it is often the rear-most 3rd of the chamber that can have issues if not finished reamed. if the dowel+paper encounters roughness here, consider some wet 400 grit 5-6 passes then check again. with the bolt removed from the action and pointed in a safe direction, does a loaded case fully seat with mere finger pressure? when tilted does it stick or immediately fall free rearward?

True. I still like when it shows up in vidya though lol. It’s the lolcow caliber.

I'd probably go with 40 over 357 sig for my odd caliber gun just because ammo is everywhere. One day.I was a poorfag that winced every time I took it to the range and while a powerful round (I'd argue better than .40 in every way) it's not enough to justify the rarity of ammo, weapon selection and recoil IMIMO.
Not completely related, but How does 300 PRC shoot drop, power, and range wise compared to 300 win mag? I have a Franchi Momentum bolt action with a 4x12 Vortex in 300 win mag, never thought going with one of the more boutique calibers due to ammo cost. That and 300 can kill any game in Utah.Anyone else here run a Christensen Arms MPR in .300 PRC? I ask because I have one that I've been trying to run to learn LR shooting. On paper it's all pretty good. In reality the fucker has problems with anything heavier than 212 grains. Either the bolt becomes damn near impossible to cycle normally or a fired case gets stuck and I need to knock it out with a cleaning rod. This is some bullshit because I bought/made a bunch of rounds with Hornady 225 ELD-Ms and Berger 230 OTMs. It worked fine for the first 300-350 rounds but now I have to use a brass 12 gauge brush to clean the chamber/throat every 30ish rounds.
A buddy of mine that knows this stuff well told me I need to have a gunsmith run a chamber reamer through it to resolve this issue. Anyone ever done that before?
A great question. In my opinion, at ethical hunting ranges the two are so similar in performance (for similar bullet weights) that I can't see the PRC round being a clearly better choice. I think even the recoil of the two rounds is pretty darn similar. Not completely related, but How does 300 PRC shoot drop, power, and range wise compared to 300 win mag?
