The Marshals have done the needful and banned the Sig Saar P(oop)320

You know that Safety enhancement/modification patent from that ex Sig engineer? Well apparently the patent was offered for sale to Sig in 2023, they refused.

@AnOminous
I'm pretty sure it can't criminally but could a Company get in trouble in a civil trial if they refused to implement a feature into a product one of their own engineers (the same one who designed the feature) called dangerous? Or can they get out of it through PLCAA or just saying "we're not obligated to buy a patent from anyone who says it makes out gun better just because"

IANAL but that sounds like a retarded reason for a lawsuit

I'd say possibly. This is an area of law that is very difficult to predict because it's often so political.

It would be more likely successful to pursue legal action against a gun manufacturer if the argument were the product was actually defective and the defect led to injury.

It would be very unlikely to succeed if the argument were the gun worked exactly as advertised and someone willingly did something bad with it. The responsibility would be on the perp.

Some arguments to the contrary have been that a particular weapon is deliberately marketed to criminals, like the TEC-9. In general, though, firearms manufacturers are not liable for the use of their products to commit crimes.
What I mean is, say a P320 allegedly goes off in a Cop's Safariland and the bullet shatters his femur, could said cop's lawyer not bring up said factoid during the course of a civil trial to "prove" Sig's negligence in relation to his client's injury?
When a defective product causes injury, that's usually actionable.

Police don't have manual safeties on their P320s, this would do nothing for the case because the patent is specifically for a manual safety.
ETA: I understand what you mean, but there are already many lawsuits regarding the possible defect. It might influence cases where applicable but that would require some mechanical insight and swaying a jury/judge into believing that Sig Sauer should purchase a patented solution to their own design. Sig could very much levy their hollow victories and lack of evidence of defect against that.

Interesting. Phil specifically mentioned that patent in his interview a few days ago.
Phil Strader - VP of Consumer Affairs at SIG Sauer said:
...you know, that's like adding a a fifth set of brakes to your a fifth tire and another set of brakes to your car. If the car stops way within uh normal, then what what are you doing? So, I would assume that's that's what happen. But uh you know we can't control what people who were uh terminated from us, we can't control if they're going to go down that road

I also have heard a rumor that a report regarding the airman fatality will be coming out in a couple of days and should be worth checking out.

Seems to be a rebrand of an underwhelming chinesium dot.
yeah man the best i could find from online reviews was "yeah it's a red dot it's pretty cool i guess." i was hoping there was a little more to it if eotech was going for that teeny red dot market but if it's got nothing going on i don't see a point for going with them opposed to something like a holosun. i suppose it's all just a game to find a way to not pay the cost of an RMR.

I was never a fan of the RMR because of the need to remove it to replace the batteries.

Open emitter dots are annoying in general due to the amount of dust they collect from concealed carry.

I’m really enjoying the new Aimpoint COA. It’s definitely the least worst enclosed pistol dot.

How many times have I visited a "local small gun shop" only to be treated rudely by the employees. Treated with suspicion, hostility, or acting like you walking into the store is a major annoyance for them because they were busy hanging out in a circle around the counter having a meandering conversation with their Fudd pals and act like customers wanting to potentially exchange money for goods or service is a great inconvenience.

How many times have I been at a local gun shop where the employees will criticize people for what they're buying from THE SHOP. Hearing "Uh, you're buying 9mm (or some other caliber)? Why would want you want that?"

“That’s not what I’d buy but…”. in response to anyone expressing interest in buying any of the semi-auto rifles they carry that isn't a budget AR-15.

"Good day, I am interested in buying a [brand] [firearm] and would like to look at what you have for sale in-"

:said in a harsh and obnoxious way: "What do you want to buy a piece of crap like that for?!?"

They'll have junk for sale crowding their display cases that I never see anyone buy. Glock-knockoffs in pink, cheap, flashy, tacky-looking derringers, crappy pot-steel revolvers that have gathered dust, Hi-Point pistols with amateurish "custom" Bubba-job finishes, and so on.

They have prices that make no sense, have guns on display they aren't selling and sometimes have mixed up with their items for sale ("these are from our private collection". oh really? Then leave them at home, or maybe don't put them in a cabinet right next to guns that are for sale!), they will be completely ignorant about some of the items they have for sale and admit this but still try to sell them to you. "Yes, I dunno what caliber that pistol is, maybe it'll take your ammo."

Also, they'll condescend to customers for having the nerve to ask questions while having less knowledge than most of their customers. You'll ask a simple reasonable question and they'll give you a look as if you just offered to wipe your ass on their merchandise.

Praise the lord for Sportsman's Warehouse, which does have its own issues.

But every small business gunshop in my area looks like a dump as soon as you walk in as well.

No attempt even made to tidy up the place.
