Militia Movement: Spastics with Automatic Weapons and Tinfoil

Most of these militia guys give good gun owners a bad rap. I saw some mention of the Bundy situation that wasn't as spergy as these guys. That was armed resistence versus a government overreach. Those have happened before in our country. Whiskey Rebellion tax comes to mind. Back to these militia guys most are rather harmless if left alone in their own delusional world though it is funny to sit back and listen to them talk conspiracies.

Was it Robert Taylor? He's about the most famous ex-member alive. Became a leader in the organization when he was still in his teens, and these days is a noted "Neo-Folk" musician and artist. Very interesting guy; I hear he's writing a memoir about his wild life from Chicago street-gang dude, to paramilitary-Right radical, to hippie, to elder statesman of Goth/Neo-Tribal culture.
Nope...found the member, it's Keith D. Gilbert.

Oh -- HIM. That guy is bad news.
(He may also be the source of the Minutemen-helped-kill-MLK rumor. In 1965 he was arrested and convicted for possession of 1,400 pounds of dynamite, that he said he was going to use to blow up Dr. King when the civil-rights leader spoke at the Hollywood Palladium in L.A.)

Jesus Christ.

Gilbert suspects that Dennis Patrick Mower, another Minuteman, was the Zodiac Killer. I'm not convinced (Richard "I'm going to concoct a fake persona and be a creep to people on a Zodiac discussion board" Gaikowski seems like the best suspect), but you never know.

Mower also apparently killed his own boyfriend(?), Troy Houghton.

The Minutemen boasted some odd specimens in their ranks. Both Houghton and the San Diego unit leader, Don Colley, were weenie-wagglers who got busted for indecent exposure. And Grand Poobah Robert B. DePugh had a reputation as a sadistic, nasty prankster.

As for Houghton as Zodiac: I've heard that one. Living in the SF Bay Area, that unsolved case is a perennially hot topic here, even nearly a half-century after the first killings. (And I agree -- Gaikowski is an excellent candidate for him.)
