Minecraft

I miss playing this game honestly, but I tried to play on my Surface and it just felt... different? I feel like there was miniscule lag that was fucking with my head. Or I've gotten so used to playing Animal Crossing that I can't play a first person game anymore (which would suck).
It's not because the game changed, the recent updates have been pretty great even without Notch, they will try to make cool additions and for the most part, they have been doing a pretty good job.

The real problem is the community and atmosphere around it, it's a problem with almost everything in the current year as a whole but it's the same with Minecraft as well. To elaborate more, the game went from the new cool thing to a full-on AAA corporate project that's the audience is aimed more at kids with all its shitty spinoffs, legos and etc than everyone like it was before.

You mix that with all the bizarre political shit where it doesn't belong and a community that went from fun little songs, videos and art to getting mad at mob votes, making soulless clickbait videos, and all the cancellations for several reasons. (Mostly pedo shit tho)

The point of all of this is that living in a bubble isn't as good as some people say, a community around something like a game makes it a lot more enjoyable as a whole, the problem now is that everything has become so insufferable as a whole in two parts 1. insufferable corporatization and 2. political bulshit.

It's all so tiresome and that's the reason why Minecraft truly isn't the same.

There's a difference between a game that draws in kids and one that caters to them. Minecraft is more a case of the former than the latter due to the simple nature of it's gameplay and visuals.

Marketing-wise? Definitely but, then again, how would you sell Minecraft to an older audience?

I'd disagree with the shoving in of political bullshit. I don't know about Bedrock, but Mojang have done a great job of keeping that out of game with the only exception being the splash text (but those can easily be ignored or erased if they bother you that much).

The latter two problems were always a thing within the fanbase. They just became more noticeable with Minecraft's resurgence in popularity.

It doesn't matter logistics at all, I don't work at Mojang and I don't have to worry about their marketing, what I'm saying is that it's become a full-on videos game with all the toys and other shit along with a lot of videos being alienating to people who are over 5.

That's a natural excavation but that's one of reasons why it's not fun anyone, it's become just another baby game and the new community around it shows it at its purest form with all the clickbait low effort garbage.

It's just not the new hot thing anymore and is more of a game for babies that seen is as embarrassing to be found playing.

That's what I was getting at with the start of the post, just didn't fully ask it but yes Mojang has done a good job of keeping that shit out of the game itself but they still sprinkle it on their social media so if you ever want to keep up with the game then you're going to have to see gay shit, the problem is that it makes it very apparent the kind of people that are working on the game which sucks but it's not that big of a deal.

When you try to join any online server or anything related with the community then it becomes a balancing act, something I don't feel like was the case or as bad way back, there weren't so many protected groups back then and I feel like people were more ashamed about the weird shit they were into as well but I might be wrong.

The whole point of the post was that the game hasn't changed, just everything surrounding it has changed, problems that are far from being exclusive de Minecraft.

If we're just looking at the YouTube side of things? Maybe, but there's still youtubers like Antvenom, Mumbo Jumbo and the Hermitcraft crew that go into aspects of the game that would appeal to older audiences. There is some autistic stuff but, like I said, it's nothing that wasn't already there.

Minecraft on other social media platforms have stayed the same for the most part. Except Twitter, but those kiddies are more focused on the personalities and likely don't even play the game.

Yeah, but you still see older players playing Nintendo games. Besides, Minecraft isn't new to being seen as a kids game. Even with Notch around, Mojang didn't do anything to push the game's age rating any higher E10+.

you can always go back an update tho right fam?
I completely glossed over that fact, I just set up a couple of past installations on the launcher and it seems to be fine.

That said, launch-date 1.18 seems to work but it's choppy. I guess I'll have to stick to 1.17 until I get a better laptop or update my MBP to the latest version of Mojave.

Can't wait for nuMojang to completely remove Russian language from the game in the name of virtue signalling. Or better yet, introduce some kind of disk wiping malware like that node-ipc tard did. That will definitely show those rascists not to invade Ukraine!

First they expunge all references to Notch from the game except the one they are legally obliged to keep.
Then they force BLM splashes into the game, even though Mojang is a Swedish studio and no one except Americans gives a shit about American problems.
And now they have jumped onto the "fuck Russia" bandwagon. Fuck me.

The r/minecraft community its shitting on Mojang because of how little nature or content the "Wild" update has.
This its a first but has had a long time coming because of how Mojang shit the bed with caves and cliffs and how the next 3 updates will try and rectify that.
I wonder why they cant get more people to work on the game even though this its the best selling game of all time.
I'd say they're jumping the gun as we haven't reached the pre-release stage of the snapshots yet. I think it's safe to say that Mojang is currently slowing down on the additional content to further flesh out the Ancient City and polish what's currently there.

Also, "next three updates"? Do you mean 1.17-1.19 or 1.18-1.20? There's still archeology, but that wasn't stated to be apart of caves and cliffs.

It sucks, but it is what it is. Russian players can just modify them back in if they care that much. These are just stupid lines of menu text after all.

I understand that perception and it is a game full of kids but all I'm getting from this is that you're upset children play Minecraft. You keep saying it looks like it's for babies and 5 year olds, yet you don't blame the game itself but it's community but loop back into saying the game is bad (the guy you replied to was complaining about his actual gameplay experience...?). It will never always be the 'new cool thing' and every year that passes is another year you get older from the age you first started playing it, sounds to me that you've just grown out of it.

Lmao for real, naming it Wild Update and did little to tweak any nature/forest biomes. Each snapshot releases, it's almost ALWAYS about the damn Warden. You think it's enough to give the fuckin thing a boss HP pool, OP attack stat, "smelling", fast aggro speed, respawnable instead of persistence with Shriekers, can't be pacified, essentially already the most complex mob Mojang has ever done and already buffed so much compared to 1.17 trailer.

But no, each snapshot promptly decide to tweak Warden into swim in lava like Strider, getting longer reach attack, giving actual range attack and so on, all because some dev went "Nuuuuu YoU cAn'T CheEz my PweeeeeciouS HulkWardennn!! u suppose To aVoiD Itttt"

You think with that big of a HP pool, Mojang should at least give a weakness(like attack its core) so that you can kill it without much issue(no excuse since it is respawnable from the looks of it).

I think it's safe to say that Mojang is currently slowing down on the additional content to further flesh out the Ancient City and polish what's currently there.
I would forgive that if it weren't for the fact that Warden is not a new content. You think they would have done with it and focus more on other things but nope, it sounds like they should have named it Caves and Cliffs Part 3 with how they are still stuck tweaking the bottom of the world content.

They could have done that, if it was something you were suppose to fight. Like you said, the devs want us to avoid it. Which is why we're given so many chances (three with the shrieker and at most three with the Warden) and many ways to avoid incurring it's wrath.

This recent snapshot did nerf the damage on his range attack (it now does 10 damage instead of 30) and he now drops a catalyst on death, so it's not as OP as it was before.

They weren't just focusing on the warden in the snapshots. I think out of all the snapshots we've gotten so far the Warden was the focus in two of them with it getting minor tweaks in a few others (including the current one).

The snapshots, so far, have either been them: polishing what we've gotten (Swamp content, Allays, etc.) or adding new stuff to the Ancient Cities. I want them to move on to adding new stuff too, but I also understand them slowing to do some polishing.

I'm late to this but I still find this interesting so I might as well bring it up.

So at some point, a team of Bedrock creators that go by "SNDBX Group" made an Aether marketplace addon. (That costed 11$ btw)

Now because it was on the marketplace which has to comply with copyright, people thought that it was official but that wasn't the case in the end.

Now, on one hand, it was a shitty addon that's nowheres near the level of The Aether 2 project and it was by people who also made paid for versions of Skyblock.

And yes that's an Aether in the right one so that gives more credit to the idea that if they didn't use the name that would be fine.
bandicam 2022-04-30 07-31-39-200.jpg

But the mod is different enough to be it's own thing and it's not like there aren't ones that break the rule of not using content without permission.

Hell, there are addons that rip off other Minecraft mods but they are allowed, so it's obvious that it's just because he works at Mojang and if he didn't then the Aether mod would still be up.
it's the same thing but it's still there.jpg

Now people were bringing up how Mojang/Kingbdogz could have/should have taken legal action against the creators of the addon.
Is that a fucking pony.jpg

Now, this is 1. an excavation to a point that wouldn't even need to be taken, and 2. I'm not even sure if it would be viable in court because even if Mojang owns Minecraft.

I'm pretty sure they didn't copyright The Aether mod because they wouldn't have to and if they did then that's kind of funny because of how they refuse to add it into the game especially if they did only now because of the marketplace addon.

How have people not clicked that the reason for Minecraft's absolutely glacial update pattern is because they don't want to drastically up the specs required for playing the game, which would actually break the game on low performance pcs/certain consoles/android/switch etc.

They physically CAN'T make any major upgrades because it'd tank performance. It's also a complete garbled mess of systems that honestly have lost the pure innocent fun of pre-village+pillage minecraft.

While it is true that the nature of Minecraft's updates is because of the devs wanting the game to accessible on any device regardless of it specs, that doesn't mean that the updates we've received weren't major for the game. The most recent update overhauled world generation for example.

The update pattern is also because they want to give themselves time to plan and really bring the updates together before they release them (with the cave update being an obvious exception).

Thankfully, we have snapshots to help circumvent the long wait (even if they are kinda content-dry at the moment).

Not really. I have more fun playing the game now than I ever did pre-1.14.

I find village building to be a great time killer, especially when you do it from the ground up.

Piglin bartering is a simple resource generator that gives me an excuse to use all the gold in my chest.

And when the Allay comes around, mining and farming is going to be way more convenient (I just wish they'd hurry up and bring back the bundle).
