  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.

Maybe this is what they meant with the Wild Update because it is certainly wilder than the update.
The community reaction to this is about what I expected and I can't help but feel like this vid is damage control. Especially when Prior Ask Mojang videos didn't have this kind of production quality.

At this point, it's pretty obvious that Mojang wanted this to be a small update. They should have communicated that better at Minecraft Live (and most definitely shouldn't have called it the "Wild Update") because now the playerbase is pissed. Hell, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed by this.

I don't get their reason for shelving fireflies either. Their main use may have been replaced by magma cubes and slimes, but you're telling me you guys couldn't have made "Firefly jars" be a thing in its place?

There's also the birch forest revamp that they apparently didn't have time to work on. Which is dumb in it's own right, but that doesn't bother me as much because nothing crazy was going to be happening there if the concept art is anything to go by.

I find it funny how suddenly the community is pissed about them not including an atmospheric mob when players hated them not to long ago.

Ah, the classic including outtakes in the beginning of the video to come off more sincere and candid.

Does this mean people will stop eating up the "MOJANG IS SO TRANSPARENT AND LOVES THE COMMUNITY" larp? Since 1.18 they've gotten more and more radio silent, and the devs have even started whining about criticism on their twitter accounts.

If they can't take the heat about something as simple as the fletching table, they need to get off twitter. Great idea that would alone prevent many shitshows.

Not really. The community interaction with the snapshots have stayed the same (the devs give us something to mess around with, we give our thoughts and they adjust them accordingly).

They've even been posting videos going over some of the features they implement like the Warden.

I don't think so, during 1.18's development they were much more actively looking for feedback, and sharing insight into the world gen.

While they have been making videos on their youtube (that I don't watch), snapshots seem more of a requirement of them at this point. Up until this recent shitshow of a video they were radio silent on birch forests and fireflies. I'm not saying "oh mojang is NEVER transparent", but that slow decline along with them whining about criticism just rubs me the wrong way.

my greatest achievement in life was somehow adding the fletching table to Minecraft an entire 2 years before I joined the company, that's quite amazing and i dont know how i did it
Bearing in mind that half the playerbase of Minecraft is literal children and ESLs, why even bother trying to be sarcastic to someone who isn't going to fucking understand half of what you say to them in earnest?

Also, he jokes, but I made the fucking "Barrier" block as a mod 2 major versions before it got included in the vanilla game verbatim and what do I have to show for it? An unsucked dick?

SystemZee isn't a child. He's the guy that makes videos like these:

He also one of the developers for the Origin Realms server.

Was just speaking more generally, had no idea who SystemZee was until now though I guess it makes more sense then if they're just shooting the shit about someone else asking that question before.

For real what the fuck is taking them so long? There's modders who can add new mobs and features in a month, feels like there's some bad management going on especially clear with the bitchy replies the devs make.

There is a whole team and the art direction for the game is so easy that there's no excuse especially if they want to make another shitty small update.

If they really want to add a new dimension or something that's completely on them and it's their fault that they made that decision without telling anyone, if they just told us their big plan for this update if they have one, a lot of us would be more understanding but they keep actively removing things from the planned updates which is just insulting.

Btw I brought up the art of Minecraft and I would like to bring up how out of place the Allay looks when compared to the Vex which it has been compared to several times.
Vex and Allay.png

One is just a Steve player model with wings and a sword, a very simple design while the Allay has a huge head which reminds me kind a of those old scarped Minecraft models.

It just shows how the art direction for Minecraft has changed since Notch left a little bit but it still isn't super complicated just a little bit more noticeably different.

Btw some people want them to pull a Piglin for the Vex and make the Vex a corrupted Allay which would be interesting but I don't know if they would do it because they don't seem to want to listen to the fan base when it comes to obviously helpful changes, like being able to fuse gold onto her armor or being able to have armor and the Elytra on at the same time but still it would be neat to see.

Can't they make sure everything is a good state before they release it? We're in the pre-release stages right now, so all that's happening is bug-fixing and polishing. The update isn't for far off for release now.

The wait time isn't even out of the ordinary. Development has been going along like this for a good while.

There was never going to be a new dimension. That was pure community speculation.

If a new dimension was going to be added, don't you think they would have brought more attention to it at Minecraft Live?

The most that we missed out on getting was The fireflies (that would have been a useless ambient mob) and the birch forest revamp (that wasn't going to be robust anyway if we're going off of the concept art). Otherwise, this update has been wrapped up in a nice little bow as far as I'm concerned.

The "Vexes are corrupted Allays" theory has pretty much been confirmed in the game already considering that you can only find Allays at Illager Outposts and Woodland mansions.

They don't even need to change their design to reflect this as we can easily assume their form got distorted in the change.
like being able to fuse gold onto her armor or being able to have armor and the Elytra on at the same time but still it would be neat to see.
The Devs have already stated that our inability to do that is by design.

Gilded armor isn't a thing in order to give gold armor more utility for piglins and Elytras are suppose to be a trade-off of protection for more mobility.

They were hyping up the central structure in the city for who knows how long, and there was literally a portal ignite sound in the stupid music disc that kingbdogz thinks is worthwhile loot for the warden cities.
(It's not but that's a whole other argument.)

The community is asking for Vexes to be able to be turned into Allays. You should be able to figure this out from context clues. I have to agree as well, they're very much going to become niche if there's no way to renew Allays as you can't breed them, so converting Vexes would be a nice alternative.

Can't people express their disappointment with how lackluster this update is? I think they should be able to, and I also think the development team is heading in a bad direction and I hope they course correct, I'd imagine the guy you're replying to feels much the same.

If this was effectively telegraphed as a small update, there would be far less issue. This isn't a Buzzy Bees situation where the update was clearly told to the community to be smaller and focusing on bugfixes. It wasn't, because Mojang sucks at communication, and it's devs are starting to prefer to whine on twitter and only clearing the air once they have to.

The Devs have already stated that our inability to do that is by design.

I will agree with you on this though. I think gold and leather armor's uses are more of a crutch in the design however, the lesser armor tiers needs more of a use in general.

Maybe so but, again, if a new dimension was coming in this update they would have brought more attention to it. They even said that they weren't going to bring any more dimensions into the game until they touch up The End.

For now, that's just something they can revisit later.

I get that. I just don't think renewable Allays is much of a necessity imo. It'd be nice, but the Allays you gain have already been made difficult to lose as is (health regen and friendly fire when they hold an item for you).

Of course they're going to be niche. I'd assume the fact that they come in small numbers is by design considering you can only find them in two structures (one of which is harder to find than a stronghold). Besides, if that does happen, I don't think it should done by turning evokers in Allay spawners.

Don't put words in my mouth.

I'm not saying you can't complain about the update, I complained about the update, but Liquid Marlon was complaining about the development time even though it has been this way for the longest.
The Deep Dark is shit and so are the items you find from the chests.
Hard disagree. Gapples are way more common down there along with enchanted diamond armor (recovery compass and music disc aside).

happens to the best of us as i do the exact same thing but with like other games

This is why I stopped modding it, it's Bethesda level autism and subsequent burnout for a game with worse RAM usage than Chrome.

for me modding minecraft and constantly swapping files because of incompatible loaders/versions has been the biggest pain in the butt for me so that's why i haven't really gotten into modpacks

Correction: upon closer examination, Loot in the Ancient cities isn't THAT crazy. But the chests are only half of what the cities have to offer.

The sculk offers you a large abundance of exp and the means to make you're own mob farm if you're not interested in the loot chest.

Tbh, lately I find more entertaining trying out mods and testing if my game works properly than playing the modded game itself - and I don't know why.

probably since Vanilla Minecraft sucks ass coding wise and checking the limit by modding the fuck out of it sounds like a better timewaste.

I've just recently downloaded FTB Academy for 1.16 and I'm enjoying it so far. I need a modpack that gives me shit to do, so it's nice. I'm also admittedly not good with tech and magic mods so it'll be fun to learn those.
