So recently Mojang decided to "help" players get around on multiplayer. The have made a

so you don't have to leave their walled garden and parents can rest easy knowing they don't have to pay attention to their snotty brats on their iPads to actually parent them.
In regular Mojang fashion they went the least effort way to do so, hiring a 3rd party to do the actual job. Some company called
GamerSafer who it seems has adquired the "findmcserver" URL and is now running the thing. How trustworthy are these guys? Very! They have all these important partners you see:
I can feel my ESG score rising! FemmeGaming might be worthy a deeper look as they seem to be a type of Sarkesian styled grift but their statement reads
"Femme Gaming is the ultimate hub for women and marginalized genders in gaming" which alongside their use of "LGBTQIA+ friendly" really doesn't mesh well with Minecraft's community which already has a grooming problem. But I digress, back to the servers.
Mojang proudly announces in their announcement that GamerSafer has "spent the last several months working with many of the existing servers to help them meet the requirements" which is probably code for "some intern put it together on a afternoon and we did a quick check to make sure no n-words or mentions of sex showed up on their open chats when we logged in to check if the IP actually worked". Here is the result of all this hard work.
Minecraft youtuber SalC1 has decided to check how good the list is, and it takes approximately 30 seconds to spot a pay-to-win list on the Official List gleefully advertised as being compliant with the ToS.
According to the FAQ on the Official Server List, the servers were checked not once but
twice! Once by GamerSafer and once by Mojang before being approved. I am sure that this was a deeply well researched endeavor, that no nepotism and hand rubbing happened and that everyone involved just made a honest mistake over a dozen times and it will never happen again!
Trillion dollar company and multi-billion dollar IP guys.
