Minecraft youtuber Dahomey deleted his third Youtube channel and all videos from his main Youtube channel.

Reason is unknown, but it may be related to drama he had with r/Iraq over videos on his history Youtube channel.
Dahomey made a series of videos about Saddam Hussein. r/Iraq labeled him a dirty pro-american racist.

So recently Mojang decided to "help" players get around on multiplayer. The have made a Official©️ Minecraft™️ Server List®️ so you don't have to leave their walled garden and parents can rest easy knowing they don't have to pay attention to their snotty brats on their iPads to actually parent them.

In regular Mojang fashion they went the least effort way to do so, hiring a 3rd party to do the actual job. Some company called GamerSafer who it seems has adquired the "findmcserver" URL and is now running the thing. How trustworthy are these guys? Very! They have all these important partners you see:

I can feel my ESG score rising! FemmeGaming might be worthy a deeper look as they seem to be a type of Sarkesian styled grift but their statement reads "Femme Gaming is the ultimate hub for women and marginalized genders in gaming" which alongside their use of "LGBTQIA+ friendly" really doesn't mesh well with Minecraft's community which already has a grooming problem. But I digress, back to the servers.

Mojang proudly announces in their announcement that GamerSafer has "spent the last several months working with many of the existing servers to help them meet the requirements" which is probably code for "some intern put it together on a afternoon and we did a quick check to make sure no n-words or mentions of sex showed up on their open chats when we logged in to check if the IP actually worked". Here is the result of all this hard work.

Minecraft youtuber SalC1 has decided to check how good the list is, and it takes approximately 30 seconds to spot a pay-to-win list on the Official List gleefully advertised as being compliant with the ToS.

According to the FAQ on the Official Server List, the servers were checked not once but twice! Once by GamerSafer and once by Mojang before being approved. I am sure that this was a deeply well researched endeavor, that no nepotism and hand rubbing happened and that everyone involved just made a honest mistake over a dozen times and it will never happen again!

Trillion dollar company and multi-billion dollar IP guys.

But remember that it's too much work for them to put more than one mob in an update! And don't you DARE to say that this poor tiny indie studio with 900+ employees and a trillion dollar company behind them is more than capable of making grand updates every year, or else an army of unpaid white knights will eat you alive!

Servers placed on this list have a set of badges that represents their "safety". One of the badges requires server owners to use the official reporting system. At first I couldn't believe that there were servers that actually had it enabled until I filtered by badge.

Only Bedrock servers. Lol, lmao even.

I bet every one of those trusted servers is full of troons because even Microsoft isn’t powerful enough to go against the illicit trade of HRT to minors.

Unironically, why hasn't anyone made a "Minecraft 2" or "Minecraft but it doesn't run like complete ass water + other things" yet? Every once in a while I'll see a video pop up in my Recs on Youtube that's some developer documenting their "progress" on making their own version of Minecraft, and yet none of these are ever THE second coming of Minecraft. Java as we know it is based on a completely jank fuckin spaghetti codebase made by a college student in 2009. And on all accounts, Bedrock should be the ideal Minecraft edition just based on a solid codebase alone, but it's all completely hampered down by no Modding API, weird discrepancies between Java and Bedrock, and the inability to have way more freedom of servers. Not to mention Micro$oft being the one to reign over Bedrock.
I know you can't just port over all of the textures and features of Minecraft over without breaking some EULA or ToS by Mojang or MS, but surely as long as you aren't copying + pasting stuff like Mobs, textures, and code; rebuilding mob behaviors and making new and original textures for a better Minecraft game shouldn't be too hard to accomplish especially with a passionate and booming fanbase like Minecraft's no?

Bedrock was based on MCPE.
Pocket Edition was made by some Mojang intern for Xperia Play phones.
Its codebase is horrifyingly unstable. There's a reason why Bugrock is used as a nickname for BE.

i think the main problem is your mixing coding and Minecraft and your just asking for a troon disaster to happen at your feet

Edit: This is over 11 months old, according to an archived clip of the ad itself. I am just now finding this out, whoops

Minecraft YouTuber AntVenom almost killed himself due to "backlash" of a SOYlent ad he did.

If you look up his name on YouTube, this is what's right below it

The funniest thing is that Bedrock is mechanically closer to old Java than modern versions are, there's no weapon charging shit and having to carry support for shitty 2015 phones in Somalia means worlds start destabilizing after a few million blocks out; meanwhile at the same time Bedrock has features Java is too spaghettified to run well such as absurd draw distances and a framerate that doesn't get stuck at 59.8 at all times. Hell, the new lighting/raytrace rendering engine got held back for a while because Java couldn't run it right and now the Java version's scrapped entirely so there's some wild pros/cons going on.

RenderDragon was delayed because it was an unoptimized piece of dogshit. Hell, even after they "improved" its performance it still manages to fuck up your framerate.
PabloGonzalez2016 can't play 1.19+ because it killed performance on his 2012 phone.

There is an open-source game (more of an engine) called Minetest, that has many games made for it. This includes a Minecraft clone, with development split into a couple of forks. It's currently extremely janky and half-baked, however, so you should go in with low expectations, but it does do certain things really well. It uses a random shitty CC-licensed texture pack and the information at the Minecraft Wiki to create a complete clone. Microsoft lawyers trying to kill it will probably be the official indication that the clone is starting to be a viable drop-in replacement.

As for the other games that Minetest has, don't play the default game unless you want to be very disappointed. It's like a shit version of Minecraft Alpha with no mobs. It's meant to be used with mods and these mods are all very directionless and disjointed. If you want a cohesive experience, NodeCore is a fairly interesting game. Try it.

Under the hood, Minetest is a Lua-based game engine for Minecraft-like games, with a built-in mod installer, a server list, and no central account server. The mods are also sandboxed so that malicious Minetest mods have less of a chance of raping your PC, and they currently run no code on the client whatsoever, and they can't even make Internet requests unless you specifically whitelist them. It also runs on the most ancient hardware known to man.

It's not very good overall at the moment, but development is currently happening at a very slow pace. I just think it's neat.
