My Adventures With Superman

If you want to suffer, the full episode is on YouTube.
They really went out of their way to make it look anime-ish. I got a kick out of this comment:

Yeah I could only endure the first episode by constantly just skipping ahead. I probably only watched 4 minutes of content. When looking at it I thought to myself "This wasn't made for you." Which it just is for two main reasons:
1. It's called "My Adventures with Superman" so it's going to be told at least partially from Lois Lane's perspective, a cartoon targeting girls.
2. I am way too damn old to be watching cartoons unless it's that sweet nostalgia or it's something really special.

So I can't fault it for having Superman/Clark Kent just be this dorky guy. Clark's aloof personality was always Superman's disguise, just a total facade, but I guess I can see why girls would find Superman like that to be cute. And Lois being girlboss doesn't even offend me because the Lois I've always known was a strong albeit realistically grounded character. She always kept Clark in the friendzone with the viewer happily knowing that was just Superman being committed to his act.

What I would fault it for is why is so cheap looking? Superman is set in Metropolis, an idealized New York City. Where's all the people? There should be crowds going crazy during the actions scenes. It just felt really empty.

The first episode of Invincible, until the twist ending that reveals that Invincible is a parody/deconstruction of Superman did a far better job at being a modern day Superman cartoon.

Disagree about the friendzone shit and Clarks goofy ass personality just being a facade. Both are false.

Supes/Clark and Lois have been a couple on and off throughout the vast majority of his run as a character. And Clark's goofy personality is who he is, he just knows when to be serious when the shield is out.

Well the comics can very greatly. But in many comics I read Clark would very much an aloof dork to make the others not question why he's never around when Superman appears. But most of all Superman The Movie Clark is a dork.

One day I would like to see WB do a Clark Kent similar to what we would've gotten in Superman Lives. A cheeto covered, Micky Mouse t-shirt wearing, greasy hot mess of a nerd. The kinda guy that would get a thread on the farms!

'The idea was that Clark Kent would be a bigger freak than Superman. Clark Kent would be the alien.'

But I guess you wouldn't get the fujo target audience that way.

The Full Death of Superman Lives is here on Jewtube btw.

It'saGundam makes a video:

Oh, second season of Jujutsu Kaisen is out?
The video is fairly on point, the Hero Acadmeia comparison I was tempted to make but it's kind of unfair since Superman was punching robots into low orbit before that show.

That new Deathstroke design. The look. His voice. His manner. Everything is wrong. I'd call him a Saturday morning cartoon villain but even most of them were actually threatening.

Also please let them have given a Waller design that actually befits the nickname The Wall-

Not bad. But like so many versions of her do it fails the introduction. She should not be in the background of Deathjoke here. When Waller shows up in screen Deathstroke, if he is part of her squad, should be shutting the fuck up and letting her talk. It's the same mistake the Suicide Squad movie made, Will Smith should not be mouthing off to her unless the scene ends with Waller having him taken off for a water boarding. The Wall has to rule over metahuman assets with an iron fist and they keep failing to make the various versions of her plausible.

This was her telling Batman why he was going to get out of her way in the old animated stuff. The overall design is fairly similar. But her muscle is that, relegated to the background as she, with a single insinuation that might have been a shot in the dark, makes Batman back down. Looking at the two images you have no doubt who's in charge. In this new version she looks like a secretary, with the other background guy looking like a janitor.

Or for the Twitter version - why does DC hate strong black women?

Edit - looking at our villains we have Deathstroke to the right of centre with mask on and Waller to the left. Between them up top we've got Brainiac. It could be Luthor given the lack of hair but the headshape and red eyes look unnatural. If it's instead Zod I may die laughing. "Livewire" is upper right of centre and further right from them is what I suspect may be a gender swapped Mr Mysptylx (I am not willing to look up the spelling). Left hand side I am less sure on. In Livewire's position on the other side is what I think is the other half of her comedy duo, top left could be Zod. Further down from him I cannot make a good guess so, given the show quality so far, I'm going to assume it's Lobo.

Edit 2 - die in a well of shit it's a 2 season order. We're getting a minimum of two of these.

By the way... anyone who uses the word "lolz" in a character description needs to be shot in the head...
What the fuck...Why the hell did they change Mxyzptlk into a gay knock off of Supreme Kai? Between the Deathstroke and Livewire designs, Superman having ' a lightning battle aura' and glowing eyes, I'm starting to wonder if the creators wanted to make an original series but were forced to use the Superman IP, since everything I've seen is nothing like Superman? Is it true this is meant to be based of Max Landis's Superman: American Alien?

Looking pretty awful. Think I'm going to go watch the episode where Superman tricks him several dozen times, that was a fun one.

None of this blue anime shit was in American Alien, they basically took the Daily Planet setup from there then pasted anime on top of it.

I've watched all three episodes so far. It's too lighthearted and silly for me so far, and the villains in the latest episode are literally dumbasses who can't hold up a convenience store who get access to the tech Livewire used. They just feel flat and too comical overall. I might stick with it to see if it goes somewhere, but so far its an astounding mediocre. I do like Jor-Els design, though the rest of the designs are bland to bad.
Also, the mystery meat factor in this show is downright distracting. So many brown people, Metropolis may as well be in Brazil. None of it feels organic, it just feels like more ESG score shit. And I can't get over how much browned Lois looks like Lance from Voltron, all the way down to the green coat and same hairline.

Wasn't Deathstroke the guy who Deadpool was made after?

Some old grizzled merc guy? And now he looks like a teenager. I mean I am not into comics and I don't hate the design, but it looks like an anime high school bully character not a damn merc in his 40s.

Apparently Banshee, Mist, Livewire and another character who had powers in other iterations are all tech based villains now. As in, Banshee just wears a government helmet she stole to make scream waves rather than just being able to do it herself. Same with Livewire.
Probably don't have the rights to "metahumans." It strikes me as being that cheap.
They might also be going for the "capitalism bad" angle and having Luthor be the origin of all the gear.
