I think there's a connection between the type of person who becomes a speedrunner and the type of person who becomes a troon.

Yes, it's called :autism:. That's not even a joke, statistics show that autists are much more likely to become troons, and autists speedrunning shouldn't even need statistics to back it up.

Speedrunners are usually not socially brilliant people, so speedrunning video games is an obviously appealling pastime to those who have difficulty interacting with others. It's an activity to which you can dedicate absurd amounts of time in which you have almost no direct contact or face to face interaction with other human beings.

So here you have a vulnerable person who is likely receptive to the kind of suggestion you mentioned. What if I were a girl instead of a boy? Would I be more popular? More accepted? More sexually desirable? Would people treat me with more kindness? And so often (due to wishful thinking) the answer to these questions seems to be 'yes' when the truth is an unbelievably emphatic 'no'. The grass is always greener. I wish there were a way to reach all these confused people and convince them not to dig themselves deeper into the life of an outcast by doing this stuff.

Having those thoughts is natural and I think everyone has had similar thoughts at some point. I think everyone sometimes thinks life would be easier or more managable if they were the opposite sex. The problem comes from this cultlike ratking and "egg" concept that's spreading, because expressing perfectly normal and rational thoughts and doubts now leads to predators manipulating you into becoming an abomiation to make them feel less terrible about themselves and convince themselves for just one more day that trooning out wasn't a horrible, horrible mistake.

Troon and tranny stuff has happened in the past in other countries hasn't it? IIRC ancient Greece, China and Japan had similar people pop up once they became developed first world countries. I don't know if there's any data about it, but has anyone attempted to make connections?

It's a term that caught on a few years ago for closeted trans people, because eggs hatch into chicks. Some people in the online trans community pride themselves on "hatching eggs", or pressuring people into coming out as transgender. It's not hard to see how this is a bad idea when you consider how loose the definition of "transgender" is on some parts of the internet, and how a lot of these same people advocate for getting hormones ASAP without any professional medical or psychiatric assistance. Narcissa was definitely a product of this sort of environment.

I think that was mostly gay men helping his fellow man out because women were scarce or a protected commodity. Remember before birth control all sex could lead to children so getting married was required for most guys to get laid. So there has definitely been a role filled by males acting as substitute females for sex going back to ancient times. Of course, there’s always been gay men too so a lot of overlap between the two.

Rachel genuinely seems like they were a nice person, so it's hard to say, but whether she did or didn't, her death definitely seems to be what triggered Cosmo to go full troon. It's possible that Rachel was "hatching" Cosmo at the time, but it's also possible that Cosmo really missed his friend and is so fucked up in the head that he decided to try and become her.

Honestly, I can see how it would be unsettling to go outside when you look like a literal ghoul, but it was also his choice to become what he is. I bet nobody gave him a questioning look at all when he was still a dorky, awkward, successful speedrunner.

If someone had written a Sci Fi novel where transsexualism was on the rise due to trannies converting normies a la zombies and a new high tech food stuff containing a hormone precursor I'd say it was a bit implausible, but it seems like it might be happening in reality.

I don't know how close Cosmo and Rachel were. I can't really find him mentioning Rachel, but it's hard to search about her given there are many hack "news" articles about muh brave trans womyn "being harassed into suicide" dominating the results. For the record Rachel is reported to have had major depression, fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis. I'm also seeing a lot of "unofficial" sources saying she had planned to kill herself for years before the 23rd of April 2015. As much as I hate to go against the meme it's more likely "trans women" flock to soy because they hear about the estrogen and think chugging soy while illegally ordering Mexican HRT will help them grow sparkly vulvas that smell of roses rather than drinking soy makes you troon out. Same with how people with autism have a higher percentage of "becoming trans" and people with autism like colourful, Indonesian children's cartoons rather than the cartoons causing it.

It was made by Apollo Legend he was one of the first people to make critical videos in relation to speedrunning and then went on to get a lot of attention due to calling out Billy Mitchel and Todd Roger for cheating. It was made after Cosmo was temporarily banned from twitch for sleeping on stream and streaming copyrighten music he then decided to close his twitch account out of spite, this was before being banned again later for streaming pornography again out of spite. Apollo says what a lot of people were thinking at the time and it shows how delusional and self important Cosmo is.

She is not really a speedrunner anymore, she said she hates speedrunners and people who watch them. In my personal opinion, the label just does not fit her anymore. She doesn't really have a career anymore. That is, unless streaming herself lurking on threads and crying over what people are saying about her counts as a career.
