In my mind, I thought the sequence would have gone something like this:

1. Nathan's attorney learns he's dead and gets a death certificate.
2. Nathan's attorney contacts the prosecution and tells them that Nathan is dead.
3. Nathan's attorney files the death certificate in court or sends it to the prosecution.
4. The prosecution drops the charges. Case closed.

Has his attorney been informed, or do we not know for sure?
Considering he was last known to be in a hospital and/or in federal custody, it seems unlikely the relevant people wouldn't know immediately. Whether they'd do anything immediately, I don't know. It's not like he'd get any less dead.

Tbh (same with Byuu saga) you can order a death certificate on someone like 3 days after they die. And of course with an ongoing criminal case the court would be informed even before that.

There are a few more steps. Dismissal of charges occurs under Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 48(a), so under the Crime Victims' Rights Act of 2004, the 12-year-old girl (or her parents) would have to be notified. U.S. Attorney's Offices are inherently very bureaucratic institutions, so whichever prosecutor is handling the case would have to get a supervisor or two to sign off on everything and then contact the victim services coordinator for the particular office. All this while they're handling dozens of other cases.

I'm of the opinion that he's dead but that it'll take weeks to get a confirmation.

It's official. The U.S. Attorney's Office has moved to dismiss the indictment against Nathan Larson under Fed R. Crim P. 48(a), as noted earlier.

Et fin. That was definitely not how I expected it to end, but if Nathan wanted to kill himself, who was I to disagree?

What a waste. Rest in piss.

Honestly, I would've preferred him to keep living so we could see him file frivolous motion after frivolous motion up and down the federal courts, for our entertainment. I also wanted to know how the U.S. Attorney's Office would've approached his sentencing. I guess we'll never know.

I would have wanted him alive too, if only to see him get convicted, the U.S. Attorney's Office asking for the maximum sentence, and him dying in prison fifty years later. But at the same time, what's done is done. Reminds me of Lowtax's death in a way.

Unless someone invents a time machine, Nathan is, and always will be, dead. Of course I'm sad that Nathan won't face justice, but I won't dwell on it forever. He's dead and gone and will never be able to hurt another child again, and that, for me, is an acceptable outcome.

I would like to know how Nathan died - there is still quite a bit of ambiguity about whether or he died due to an intentional hunger strike, if this was somehow medical, or other. I'm not making any sort of insinuation, I'm just hoping that more information becomes available.

Well Google isn't returning any results but we have this nice picture

Speaking of photos, I don't think these ones have been shared:

Underwear Model Badge Nathan.png

For context, I believe this photo was taken for the purpose of showing an example on how to become a "verified" member on his Rapey forum. Male members had to have Rapey written on their skin or piece of paper with their face shown while females had to take multiple nudes with the site's name marked somewhere visible on their body.

Edit: Turns out this photo was actually intended as an example for the site's Underwear Model Badge, but point still stands.

Before he was arrested, Nathan was obsessed with PLASST photos to where he'd once try to get girls to take numerous photos in varying positions in order to become fully confirmed members (Members who could have access to more parts of the forum, as well as other privileges) with Rapey also written on their skin. Nathan would sometimes sperg about PLASSTs in the forum chat as well as even create specially themed badges about them. This was his attempt at recreating a PLASST before deleting it shortly after from his own chat.

As for the circumstances of Nathan's death, I don't want to quickly jump to conclusions much like a lot of you, but what odo said reminded me of when Nathan had tried to kill himself in late 2020 through a dehydration pact with a few other forum members and kept his progress documented on his spin-off site Styro dedicated to discussing suicide and self-harm:

He made it around the halfway mark before giving up on it and starting a forum centered around cooking simply called Gastronomy and a similar subforum on the main Rapey site.

Both cooking forums were pretty much dead like his other secondary Rapey sites aside from Nathan and his friends occasionally sharing recipes, but there were some truly scrumptious eats shared on Gastronomy site such as this

And since he's mentioned in the dehydration pact screenshot above, here's a bonus photo of Goring (Assumed to have been jailed sometime last year):

That's fairly creative for a Mutt.

Massive waste of time and money but they should have tried his ass in absentia and set the sentence at having "pedo pos" written in large letters on his headstone.

Would it be autist-esque for me to point out that is barred by Rule 43 of the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, which holds that the defendant must be present at the trial and sentencing (with few exceptions)?

Larson didn't escape justice.
He self-inflicted justice by anheroing. Suicide before trial is the ultimate cope and seethe, because it's admitting that you're guilty as sin and you have no legal way out.
Good riddance.
