Glorious.

New information on The Last Night means a new opportunity to whine about the developer's tweets.

I usually cherry pick the exceptional individuals. In this thread, I'd have to cherry pick the comments actually talking about the game.
Let's see...the same old parroting about Tim being an alt-right neonazi gamergater. Okay. Comparing the game to Milo's book, refusing to admit you can just separate the artist and the art, oh, and insisting that "yes, we are doing this again purely because he is a shitbag human being and it is our holy duty to bitch about it". Paraphrasing, but I'm sure that's what some of them actually think.

Oh wait, one more, and I swear to God I hope that it's a genuine troll account: Actually being willfully ignorant of what caused NeoGaf to truly turn to shit and just tacking it to Evilore's sexual misconduct as the sole reason, all while being a sarcastic douchenozzle. If that post in its entirety is unironic, I weep.

I'm pretty sure I already know, but I need to ask anyway: why is Soret so hated by these morons? Is it really just because he made a single pro-GG tweet years ago and is making a game that dares to question the wisdom of money for nothing?
Literally yes. He was pro-gamergate, but in a mild way, and they're holding a grudge against him for it. He even came out and did the bitch move of apologizing for it and promising he's changed since then and no one on their side of things believed it or even wanted to give him a chance.

So, unless I've been missing something here(I don't follow him on social media or anything, I know jack shit about him), he's just carrying on with life, making his game, and all the while these tards are giving him free publicity to no orchestration of his own.

Mark my words, this thing will very likely sell well. Those were the same kinds of responses ResetEra had to A Hat in Time's launch.

A Hat In Time is only tangentally related to anything controversial. Most people probably don't even know JonTron is in the game. It's not like the game is about teaming up with him to destroy black people.

Not only is it crazy that they don't understand the very purpose of science fiction - to hypothesize a future world based around current trends and predictions and attempt to examine potential consequences to the of those changes over time to both the individual and society - It is just hilarious and dumbfounding and just plain goofy to me that they take offense on such a personal level at the possibility that a future world where everyone gets what they want and has infinite free time and no hardship might cause psychological/social problems. Even if you phrased it in such a way where you still admit that universal social services were desirable despite said hypothetical new problems they'd still hate you.

I guess that's the defining characteristic of the extremist: If they didn't think of an idea first, then it's not worth thinking of to begin with.

Media is only acceptable to these people if it validates their previously held beliefs. Everything must be propaganda that challenges no one.

You know, I, for one, wouldn't be so prone to mocking their asses if any of them could be even remotely inclined to get Soret's fucking setting right. I mean I'd still do it, it's a forum full of people convinced that the Autism Holy War is still going strong, but I'd be doing it because they're ideologues, not because they're fucking morons.

The whole premise is that it's a world where universal basic income (UBI) has given people an acceptable living standard but at the price of creative stagnation and drowning mediocrity. Without cause to excel, people don't. The reason Quinn and so many other people took offense to the game isn't merely because Tim Soret was a GG supporter and tweeted about it once years ago; it's because he's fundamentally attacking one of the sacred tenets of the extremist left (that UBI is a fucking panacea to all their problems).

It's a pretty terrifying scenario in its own right, too, because it's pretty much accurate as far as human behavior goes. Think how many cows we cover that are SSDI or Welfare leeches, and are solely because being so is less effort than actually working. One of the reasons I'm curious where Soret's taking this is specifically because it's likely to give us some insight on where their most-touted endgame lies, and I'm pretty sure it's not a pretty one for those in it.

The game is pretty explicitly about the last three days of a dude's life. It likely won't have a happy ending.

I'm pretty sure I already know, but I need to ask anyway: why is Soret so hated by these morons? Is it really just because he made a single pro-GG tweet years ago and is making a game that dares to question the wisdom of money for nothing?

Tim expressed a single note of support for GG. This quickly grew into a slander case when fake tweets circulated, claiming that his game will be a tone poem about a feminist dystopia.

That wouldn't bother them. Weakness and victimhood scale with righteousness for SJWs, and impotence isn't as problem as long as your wife's bull can still get it up.

Agreed. In fact I remain a bit surprised there was a NeoGaf refugee with enough on the ball to actually start, get up and running and sustain (so far) ResetEra. Granted doing all of this is setting the bar pretty low, but, yeah, it still surprises me. Exceeded my expectations as it were.

Hopefully we can look forward to future backbiting from the wokest of the woke as they deem ResetEra's owner(s) problematic but also realize they've got nowhere else to go.

They're asking for money now, how much do you think they will get?

It's like they were reminded of their impotence.
I think it shook them to the core. They were able to pressure Playtonic to remove Jon from Yooka-Laylee (which amounted to him making grunts for some asshole stuck in a porta potty), which gave them an overwhelming boost to their ego. When their demands for the A Hat in Time devs to remove Jon (this time he had a small speaking role) went ignored, they were greatly offended, and then outright infuriated when the game went on to have a better reception than Yooka-Laylee. The fact that this happened shortly before the site imploded on its self was just awesome timing.
