New-gen Logitech 'LGHUB' is the worst fucking piece of firmware out there - Built just right for fagtarded zoomers

every time my computer goes to sleep fucking lghub pegs an entire core of my cpu when it wakes up and i have no idea why.

The fact that firmware is needed on fucking keyboards and mice is an indictment.
Depends on what you mean by firmware. Putting a microcontroller inside both of those decreases parts counts and increases reliability from fewer connections between chips, is cheaper for us and with very few wires to make a keyboard detachable from the rest of the computer. Wikipedia goes into quite a bit of detail about what this gained the TRS-80 Model II. I never played around with that model, the original had in the usual style the keyboard integrated with the motherboard, also think of the original Apple II, Commodore Pet and so on with much bigger housings for both.

Their speakers were always pretty good, though my newest set is from like 2010 and I haven't tried any new ones because they all still work great

That's about it, though. Their keyboards and game controllers are laughing stocks, and have been for ages.

Also if anyone knows a good alternative to this, the K400, let me know:

Mine was fine until one key went out. Just kinda stopped working. Dismantling it didn't help at all, it's just a plastic membrane sheet inside that looks like it got slightly folded, somehow. So then I bought a K400 Plus:

and it's noticeably cheaper all around. Much much flimsier, the touchpad isn't as pleasant, the arrow keys now have Downs Syndrome, and the on/off switch is in a different place that's harder to reach while holding it. It's just overall worse and stupid.
I second this post. I love the idea of the k400 but the plus is shit.

I'm also looking into recommendations for a headset in the 80-100 range since my Artemis is the only reason I have lghub

I had to install this a few months ago to change the color on a new mouse. It seems like it "updates" every time I turn off my PC, and half the time it loads up as a black square at start up. I have to close it and manually load it to get it to work.

Great software. 9/10

LGHUB is a downgrade from Logitech Gaming Software in all aspects but one, which is that it no longer frequently causes my system to blue screen. I love having tons of buttons on my mouse for shortcuts and macros, not just in games but for general computer use. I've enjoyed using my G600 for years, but once it inevitably dies, there is no way I'm getting another Logitech device because of how consistently awful their software has been.

I have to trick it to remember my custom bindings for programs that aren't automatically detected. One day it just stopped switching profiles to a target program when its window took focus, so I had to delete the whole program's profile, and recreate it by manually redoing all key bindings and macros. I don't know why that fixed it, and I don't know how to prevent it from breaking in that way again.

Actually assigning a key to a mouse button is so obtuse. Instead of selecting the button and hitting the key(s) I want, I have to search for the key in a side menu and drag it onto the mouse button. Yes, I have to type the letter F into a search bar and drag a menu item representing the F key onto my on-screen mouse in order to assign a keystroke to it. Any combo not predefined has to be added as a custom macro. I had to define a macro to press Win+Alt+S because I couldn't just press those buttons to create a multi-key assignment.

The "Games & Applications" menu where you choose which program you want to set a profile for is just one long list of games that you have to scroll through by clicking arrow buttons. No grid view, no search bar, just a scrolling strip of 7 thumbnails. It's a good thing it only automatically detected about 15 games out of the hundreds I have installed, otherwise I would have to scroll through hundreds of games to find one that I want to set up a profile for.

I shit you not, LGHub made me have to factory reset my computer. It froze while updating, and I killed it with task manager.
I decide to reboot my pc later that day because it started acting weird, and it got stuck in a fucking bootloop.

I did NOTHING other than open LGHub and its dumb ass auto-updated.

This is correct. Their last good product was:

Wrong. This is their best product:

But I need the firmware to control the RGB lighting on the keys! I have it set up for "Heavy Breathing", it's programmed to react to touch just like the girls in "My Tentacle Monster Little Sister Is Too Cute, Vol. 5".
The only good thing about the Logitech keyboard (I don't know if LGHub still does that) is the way it would only lit the keys used in a game. In Battlefield 1 (or was it EAfront 2?) the keyboard would start blinking orange if your health was low.

Holy shit, how can everyone be so wrong? This is their best product:

Maybe you disagree on all of these. That's fine, but when you feel what it's like to scroll down a long-ass PDF with one of these bad boys you'll never go back to a mouse. Bind that little silver Back button to toggle scrolling and let it fucking rip!!!

I'm also partial to Logitech's "Unifying Receiver." They're just a tad larger than a USB-A plug and can be paired with a number of their products (mice, keyboards, touchpads, etc.) Also: unofficial Linux support. They're better than shitty Bluetooth adapters by a mile. The aforementioned K-400 keyboard + touchpad is a must-have for any HTPC/couch setup IMO, although the other poster is correct in that "Plus" model feels like a downgrade.

One thing I like about Linux is that there's almost never official software for controlling peripherals, so inevitably someone will come along and write software that works 100x better than the stock software on Windows, with the only downside being that it looks like total shit. It's really something.

Until a successor appears I'm completely butthurt at Logitech for unceremoniously discontinuing the Harmony Universal Remotes. The one I bought a few years ago is superb for controlling my Home Media and I'm going to be devastated when the remote stops working or I get an appliance that's not supported by the firmware.

Jokes on them. I don't use mice that look like handicapped Gundams. Tried their cheapest controller and got cramps in my hand within about 20 minutes.

Are there any mice from well known companies that have good drivers? All the mice worth their salt nowadays seem to have forced account creation or the likes to modify anything.
