Well, what are they waiting for? Beat us already. I've been hearing this shit for the past 20 years.

Your username doesn't read backwards it seems but only the words that disparage America. No wonder most countries hate Americans with your reading comprehension as an example :story:

This is the first “pay-to-play” button, only on Nintendo.

Nintendo confirms you will have to pay to use the Switch 2’s C button

David, are you brown or European? I ask because no matter what you answer with, your unwarranted superiority complex revealed yourself as chronically retarded.

It was Nintendo that wanted to hijack the prices in order to make as much profits from their die-hard fanbase as possible, the tariffs would've done little in changing that. This was their plan from the beginning and they're going to take full advantage of it.

Now pipe it down so I can laugh at the Nintendies justifying the ludicrous prices of their first-party games.

By the end of this year, I’m going to laugh so fucking hard at everyone who said the Switch 2 would be a “repeat of the Wii U”.
I think it's going to be the biggest launch of a videogame console in history, if only because Nintendo has been sitting on it for a while to build up a massive buffer of a supply to combat scalping. I don't think even the people anticipating it being successful are ready for just  how successful it's going to be at first. The real question is how well it holds onto that momentum.

You think scalpers are going to buy up stock for the first six months?
Probably. At least as best they can.

I actually support just about any anti-scalper schemes these corpos attempt. To that end, Nike and Adidas should be fired into the sun.

Spectating the lines at shoe stores is very entertaining though.

You posted a direct link to Polygon. Die.
Yeah, it's one thing to be mad at and even hate nintendo or the switch 2 for legitimate reasons, they definitely exist, but if you hate nintendo so much that you're going to bat for the actual scum of the earth game journalists from ign, polygon, gamespot, kotaku, etc, and for good measure, throw in simping for redditors and all kinds of looney troons? If you're that deep into it, I feel like you would have been mad even if the switch 2 cost $250, was more powerful than a 4070, and games were $50, making your contributions to any discussion all but meaningless, and your ire directed towards the things actually worthy of ire all but performative.

With the Switch 2, They will be stuck with the stock because nobody is going to be buying the shit. If they released this a few years ago when the pandemic was happening around 2021 or 2022 at least 100 bucks cheaper with cheaper games. They could have won.

You are out to lunch.

If that happens then Nintendo will just do a price cut. And look for them to nickle and dime elsewhere.

Absolutely. What i’m more interested in is actual game sales. System could sell out but push mediocre game sales because scalpers are all a bunch of dicks.

Speaking of scalpers. I worked with a dude that bought up all the PS2 Slims he could get his hands on in 2005. He bought out three stores worth of consoles. Once management got wind of it, fired.

The switch has been selling in the ballpark of 15 million per year for the past 3 years, and is still going to be over 10 million this year. By comparison, the ps4 was down to just under 6 million sales per year the fiscal year before the ps5 released, and even that was somewhat buoyed by the start of the pandemic. Despite the (somewhat manufactured) shortages with ps5 hardware, the absolutely paltry jump in power compared to the ps4, FAR lower than the jump from switch to switch 2, the utter DEARTH of games that still continues to this day 4 1/2 years later, and the fact that the ps5, especially around launch, would often play crossgen games at a lower framerate than the ps4 counterpart unless it was an unmitigated disaster like cyberbunk due to focusing on resolution over everything else unless you specifically played a ps4 version in a ps5, it's currently sitting at over 70 million sold.

Switch 2 is practically guaranteed 30 million sales in japan alone, probably at least 5 million in its first year. Whether or not they personally appeal to you, the switch 2 will have more actual exclusives by black friday of this year than the ps5 will have, which will mark the 5 year anniversary of the ps5's launch. Will it reach the absurd heights of the switch 1? I highly doubt it, unless it gets something utterly unprecedented super early on in its life. But thinking it's going to bomb? I'm sorry, but that's just delusion.

Anyone saying the Switch 2 will fail is vaping pure hopium.
I don't think anyone is saying that. The targeted user of a Nintendo product, is someone in a need of toddler entertainment. Their mentality won't be able to stop themselves from doing retarded financial decisions. It will sell big time, hence why they price gouged it in the first place because they know that the average Nintendo user are children and manchildren, someone who is a living bugman meme.

Nintendo just needed to do the following small thing that wouldn't have cost them more than $5 (willing to bet much much less), but for me would have added a lot more value to the console.

1. Make Switch 2 Welcome Tour free. Once you charge extra for it, loses all novelty. So if you are going to make it, make it free.
2. Hall effect sticks or TMR sticks. TMR would have made a lot of sense due to the lower power draw.
3. HDMI 2.1 support, Switch 2 can't output 4k 120fps, which means it's not using 2.1. Even if most games won't hit 4k, being able to output to 4k for games that run at 120fps will help with up-scaling. Lack of 4k 120fps support also means, Switch 2 can't output 40fps modes at 4k, which is a much bigger deal.
4. HDR 10+ support, that shit is free to add even if most devs will never use it. I get not supporting Dolby Vision due to licensing costs, HDR 10+ has no licensing fees.

Even with that said, this is the least disappointing Nintendo console tec wise in a long time, nothing huge like 3DS lacking a second stick and having a lower res screen than than the PSP here.
