People are just gobsmacked by the price for what it is. I've no doubt the new Mario Kart is good, or that the Switch 2 may be a nice piece of hardware to hold and use, but it costs much more than similarly powered systems/tablet/computers and has a single exclusive game. If I wanted to play Cyberpunk on the go, I could buy a Steamdeck and Cyberpunk on Steam instead of buying a Switch 2 and Cyberpunk, and have nearly an extra $100 in my pocket. If I want to play that game, why am I buying it for Switch? Literally the only reason to buy a Switch 2 now is Mario Kart and the promise of quality future software, and people find that value proposition somewhat comical. If this thing were launching with say, Prime 4, maybe a quirky smaller title like a new ARMS or Punch Out or something, and Mario Kart, I don't think Nintendo would be catching nearly as much shit, even with the high price.I don't know where all the hate is coming from, I'm perfectly happy with it.
