Fans Reckon Nintendo Has "Killed" Mario Kart World With Its Latest Update

"Adjusted courses selected in “Random” when selecting next course in a wireless “VS Race.”
Okay, so what does this mean? Well, prior to the update, selecting a standard race when competing online would give you the option to choose either an intermission race from a set selection of three courses, or choose something at random. The random option would often ditch the intermission setup in favour of a standard 3-lap race around one of the game's excellent themed courses.

So if you happen to see the vast majority of players choosing 'random' when selecting a course, this is why.

The update has changed this, and according to many fans, it's proven to be a bit of a slap in the face. Basically, Nintendo is now doubling down on the intermission races, meaning you begin the race on a rolling start and drive across the roads toward the selected track. So while it is still possible to land a standard 3-lap race, the probability of doing so has plummeted.

No refunds, Nintentards

They made a game that was already terrible even worse.

Their ego is too big. They could have updated the game to introduce a classic mode that players have been clamoring for since its release. But they are so proud of the dreadful open world they created they'll do anything to stop people from circumventing the horrendous intermission tracks.

They believe they created a masterpiece and will never listen to the overwhelming feedback from fans. They don't give a shit. They believe themselves to be god game devs that can't make mistakes.

The official one is around $40-$50 USD on eBay while Mayflash is around $20 USD.
Are they both equally good and easy to use? Don't need to fiddle with the latter setting it up or anything?

Nintendo is becoming kinda hit and miss now, started with I'd say Sticker Star, which I thought was a one off at the time, and is only getting worse. I fear for Bananza.

I would not be surprised if Nintendo actually did make the update because they were pissed people picked Random to avoid the intermission. They spent a fuck ton of time and money to make the open world and everyone is telling them they just want regular Mario Kart. Nintendo legit thinks they are geniuses and that they have to teach their stupid consumers to like their shitty track design.
This will be a fun generation though

You're kidding, Nintendo was actually stupid enough to touch this? The one thing that a good 3/4 of people who play Mario Kart nowadays boot up the game for? My god that is maximum retardation and not knowing your market. three-lap races have been the standard since 1996 and now Nintendo has decided 'you know what, fuck you, you will drive in straight lines, play our half-baked intermissions and you will take it like a good slave'.

After Iwata died did the whole company just drink some kind of poisoned well water? Good job on actively making your flagship game for your new flagship console even worse than it already is.

Acting like this is a new thing for them....

Nintendo has always had a stick up their ass about how you should play the way they intended. Doesn't matter if it is Splatoon forcing you to only have a choice of two stages for a set period of time, or Brawl adding tripping because fuck Melee fags, Nintendo really wants to strongarm players into playing their way.

I think this is also why they're so hostile to 3rd party emulation, the money lost to piracy is likely very minimal on their end, but seeing people play their games with mods likely made them livid

Yeah, everyone here is acting like Nintendo being a bitch about things is new, but I remember the early 2010s when they used to gun after emulators, ban any competitive tournaments, go after MODs like Project M, etc..

If there's one thing you can say about Nintendo, that has remained true throughout the years, is that they'll do all they can to make you play their game THEIR way; That they're forcing players to play the straight lines that they've spent all those man-hours on is unsurprising in the least.

Even without a Switch 2 I'd get it day 1 if they didn't wokeify Another Code Recollection, I felt burned on that and won't do that again until I read reviews.
