Null's Gambit - My attempt at getting Chris to talk openly

This topic's title gave me some inspiration.

Not really. IIRC that was a suggestion implanted by @The Captain to get an in with Chris.
Yes, it was. I told him the ring was actually the "reality stone" and he could change the reality of Cwcville to be whatever he wanted it to me, to include shutting out trolls that try and nuke it using moon cannons.

It worked, but it looks like he latched onto it a little TOO hard..

Edit: It was a way to quickly and easily shut the trolls out. The ring is sending me messages: the Discord fags are bad. Also, the ring is reallllly the reality stone, and you can use it to "undo" everything that they've done! It got me (and subsequently Marvin and Null) in, and the trolls out, all in a 20 minute phone call. Within an hour they were shut out of everything and we had full access to every aspect of his social media.

Do you really think using Chris's delusions to manipulate him to do what you say is any better than someone else using his delusions to manipulate him to do what they say? Is it OK because you were trying to help? Because I think feeding the crazy is the absolute worst thing you could do for Chris. Chris needs someone to gently defuse the delusions and remove him from the influence of people on the internet who are trying to manipulate him- even the ones who are trying to help. Chris needs guidance and structure in the real world, not manipulation and exploitation of his imaginary worlds. Guidance and structure can't be provided in a text message or a phone call. It takes more commitment than anyone on Kiwifarms is willing to give. Chris is being yanked around like a puppet.

Yes, we should've just sat back and let Joshua Wise and Stephen Boyd continue to drain him dry.

Then, when he was destitute and on the streets after 14BC was foreclosed on he may have snapped out of it on his own!

It was a necessary evil, plain and simple.

14 Branchland Court is going to be foreclosed on very soon. I hope someone who is willing to commit themselves to really helping him will be there to help Chris pick up the pieces.
Chris is capable of living on his own.

The best thing is for Barb to be put in a state run home and for Chris to be on his own.

It's like...the Simona incident but in reverse.

and you didn't go far enough with it

you should have told him barb was dead and threatened to destroy cwcville with the stone unless he resuscitated her with live wires from the house until she was golden brown

chris is a menace that should be obliterated

I'm fairly certain that would just make Chris call 911.

I feel as though we'd still win if he did that in that scenario, either because Barb would bitch at him and he'd bitch at @The Captain or he'd finally go to jail for abuse of emergency services. Forever. And then Barb would die. For real.

Dude, that's fucking crazy..

Crazy enough to work!

So what will happen when Barb is put in a group home?
Chris can live on his own in a small, relatively organized one bedroom apartment without the animals, her clutter, and constant demands for this and that.

A new environment like that would do wonders for his mental state. 14BC isn't a healthy place to live in by any stretch of the mind and hasn't been since 1999-2000. Barb is the #1 reason for that.

But ... I thought he had the reality stone. Can't he just snap his fingers and make half the horde disappear?

I'm really not sure about this. While Chris may be able to live by himself, I honestly don't think he's capable of living independently. While it is quite possible that I've been too influenced by what I've read in the CWCki, I just can't see Chris being able to maintain a household (cooking, cleaning, buying groceries, taking care of the little odds and ends that pop up in everyones' lives) without help. And, yes, I know that Chris's area is much neater than the rest of 14 BC; however "much neater" does not equate to "clean". Chris's room is still a mess.

So, while I don't think he's destined to end up in a group home or anything like that, he is most definitely going to need a very patient tard wrangler to help him in his day-to-day life, to monitor his internet/social media contacts, and to make sure he's meeting his Patreon/eBay shipments.

Drinking in the early years, bribing Chris with toys to get him to talk, insisting on "mainstreaming" to the point of relocating, blowing inheritance on a lawyer for a case they couldn't win, the "reverse mortgage" because of her hoarding addiction, etc.

Barb certainly has been very helpful in Chris' life...
