The attitudes are generally the same here, I think it was banned in public/state schools in the 80s. Since private/public schooling is very popular especially among Catholics it continued there and might still be the case in Catholic schools.

I remember my parents used to make me do chair squats or give me extra chores when I fucked up, that was the closest we got to corporal punishment back home.

Certain households still use wooden spoons here, it seems to depend on ethnicity.

My flatmate looks like she's aged a decade in just 6 months that she started dating her boyfriend. Lost a lot of weight (she was already thin), her hair looks dirty, has dark circles around her eyes and it's like all the spark has gone. She always lools exhausted. Often has to call off work because of headaches. She was cute but now looks kind of ugly. It's like he sapped all the life out of her like a vampire.

He always sounds bored around her, they have this constant push pull game where he does something scrotey like "forgetting" his credit card on Valentines Day (making her pay dinner for both of them), flies into rages and just up and leaves (one time did this at a dinner and said he had to go to a funeral, at 10pm apparently). She's cried to her sister that he "really hurts" her sometimes with the things he says. One friday they left together with bags, on saturday morning she was back, on one of her cleaning sprees that she does whenever shes upset, later he showed up, they had makeup sex, the next day she called off work because "she felt sick". Which she often does after their makeup sex apparently. One time she woke up in the middle of the night vomiting. Called off work 2 days. She gets sick semi regularly with stuff like this or respiratory stuff, which she just sleeps off, and he is never there for her when she's sick.
She also cooks and cleans for him. Never seen him do anything. Just lies on the couch playing videogames.

She swear he treats her very well because even brings her Burger King to work sometimes.

It's sad to watch really.

More recently she and her sister have been evicted because our landlord is in the habit of trespassing and has found drugs in her sister's room (which looked like a crack den). He removed her door lol so now both of them have to find places. And so do I, don't want to be here alone with that old creep.

Idk about others, but if I’m doing something like reading a book or watching TV, I can end what I’m doing pretty easily, and come back to it. And it doesn’t take the 30-60 minutes gracious wide berth that men like to ask to take for online video games.

It’s something about video games in particular that makes them this way. I used to not mind “gamers” in my younger years when dating, but I’m cracking down on it more now. Especially with pets and children involved.

It's a show/game about women, except all of the women are cut-out-of-carboard pornsoaked stereotypes that are not recognizable as women and not made for women to relate to.
