Official Space Station 13 Server

Seems to be a trend; that's how all the servers die. I used to play on Bee, and ho boy did that server go to shit fast.
Oh no doubt. Before I was on /tg/, I played on goonstation from 2010-2011. It immediately started becoming increasingly more PC. The transition over to /tg/ wasn't that rough either. After all, it was only about 2 years since the initial Goon code came out (Goonstation r4407) so the branch wasn't too much of a leap at that point. That's not the case anymore as 10 years of code branching off has made each SS13 community practically their own game.
/tg/ for me was the sweet spot of roleplay and fun. It wasn't too anarchic (ex: Noxstation) nor was it too oppressive (Baystation). I never expected it to last long since it was a game teetering on the health of its community. If Gaming was the animal kingdom, than roleplaying games - where the community is the entertainment - are the fragile species in a delicate ecosystem that immediately goes extinct if it's disturbed.

SS14 has a naughty word ban as well. Called a dude a kike and got a 'bwoink' literally two second afterwards. He told me not to say it, so I told him that I'll try, but like Papa John and nigger I can't promise anything.
I got hardware ID permabanned from every ss14 official server for saying "this nigger killed my piano" because of course, the nigger had just destroyed my piano.
Me and my people will be patiently waiting for these troons to release ss14 in something anywhere near playable so that a non-homosexual server can be erected immediately.

The trannies will never relinquish their power, and I bet you money that the server will be carefully curated.

I only played on Bee because it was shitty in a good way. My only ss13 stream was on Bee because I knew tg would throw a fit if you steamed but Bee wouldn't care. Typical Bee rounds when I played lasted very short amounts of time and I frequently griefed as a doctor named Josef Mengele without consequence. Half the station was gone by the time shuttle docked.
I moved to bee after they remade ruined botany. I was botany main.

I stayed there cause I was a mentor and a coder. I could make contributions quite often.

I tried to return to tg but they had ruined everything. I tried to contribute, but they have this retarded scoring system, where bugfixes earn you score, and you lose score when your features make it in.

Seems to be a trend; that's how all the servers die. I used to play on Bee, and ho boy did that server go to shit fast.

Drama started when they made a Discord, and started enforcing all the rules there. Biggest one was the nigher ban, along with others. People were furious, mods just wanted people to be "nice to eachother".

What followed was a slow transition to "MRP". Bee had 2 servers; Sage and Golden. Sage was meant to be more MRP but the only real difference was you couldn't meta-gang on Sage.

The changes started small; first, the slurs are gone, command need to competent, no power gaming, etc.

The bigger changes came; murderboning gone, they removed many power mechanics from mining, gateway, etc.

The 'culture' quickly devolved into admins telling people how to play the game. You couldn't spark a fight or fool around without getting noted. Everyone was 'incentivized' to just do their boring jobs and "play nice". Admins gawked like hawks and were always active, so fooling around was discouraged.

The 'head admin' had very little idea how the game was meant to be played. As a result of stupid rules, the game became boring. Noj antags could only do their boring jobs, and nothing else. Since misbehaving would lead to a ban, people would not tide or fool around, and pretty much everyone who didn't do their job were antags. As an antag it was very restrictive who you can and cannot kill. You could no longer blow up cargo to kill your target. Plasmaflooding medbay was always a ban. Syndie bombs were banned altogether.

Admins were really loose with Security though. They could do pretty much anything they wanted. Assistant shoved you? 5 mins. Clown slipped you? 10 mins in brig! No negative effects. They literally created the prison experiment.

The coders were even more out of touch. I know that because I tried to make my own changes. Big 'nerfs' were pushed over an hour and would break everything. One coder would decide "I don't like that" and would just change it breaking the game. Etc etc. Eventually they nerfed mining and implants, removed game modes like wizard and nukies, and added boring features.

Bee is very boring to play nowadays. The admins hawk all the time and every little slipup can get you a 'bwoink'. As an antag you need to know the rules and what you can do. They tried to make a MRP server for a playerbase that doesn't want it. The rules are strict and pretty much everyone is gone, only people who bicker when you break a rule are left. It's not fun to have to fight with admins over rules cause someone reported you for cuffing them.

I think SS13 lost its way ever since they changed combat to make "every encounter have an equal opportunity". SS13 is not about combat. Combat should be quick and dirty, and antags should be able to kill anyone quick and dirty. SS13 is about the antags; not the players. Antags make the game fun and should be prioritized. Without antags SS13 is just a shitty tile based space sim, and there's a billion better ones out there. It's not the systems that make SS13 great; it's the players and player interaction.
SS13 died from the great troonout in 2016 of Drumf. I remember goonadmins loosing their shit because "omg he doesn't support transgender Nazi reee" fiasco.
What killed it was the furry erpers who if they don't get their way behave like leftists and immediately ruin the server via ddos/hacks/doxing.
I know bay died because the bay head/host is a fucking British person and bay began to feel like British parliament. Then again, the true "hrp" lads all left after 2016 when the cancer began to show.
Aurora had serrious metaclique issues
Polaris was worse

Pretty sure we ought to have an SS13 section on the forums for the amount of drama this game from what I've seen or heard from others:
  • Noahgoldfox comes to mind for fastest 100% ban speedrun on all major servers.
  • Yithani for the sheer psychopathy/trying to FBI van people (?). also Aphelion Project
  • Ashen Sky (Stalker spin off) devs for lootboxes and p2w.
  • The entire reddit section for their MUH GPL DCMA REEEEEEEEE attitude.
  • Lifeweb dev for the whole "It's okay to rape a child ic since ic stays ic!"
  • Every fallout server for not being lined up against a wall and shot.
  • Oranges for making /tg/ shit.
  • CM and their whole "The new sprites are good you fucking retards!"
  • Bay for its "You got an admin loicense for that mate" attitude and the nerf anything that isn't being abused only by admins. Also Caelcode and "You're not a doctor you can't apply a tourniquet" tier rules
  • Hippie for obvious reasons
  • 90% of Erp servers for their sheer drama
Vore ironically the only one with little drama because delisted....
  • Matt and how he got "fucked by others stealing his shit" (His words paraphrased) over interbay 1/2
  • World server/ persistence on how they coded persistence
  • Goon for the whole "REEE NAZI ADMINS" fiasco in 2016
  • Citadel and underage headadmin of erp server (?)
  • Every fallout derivative for having lifespan shorter than trannies
  • Lebenstraum and salt over getting beaten by a women in game so they nerfed female stats because "Women are weaker physically than men"
  • Stalker server dev committed an hero
That's all I remember off the top of my head.

Also, SS13 bingo anyone?

At this point I feel like just parodying SS13 itself (A gay, furry website, that's all male) as is by making a branch of Goon, putting in a bunch of GPW stuff, setting it to "wrestler" antag mode for everyone with the following rules:
  • You cannot name yourself after anyone in the GPW franchise
  • Any disputes must be settled in a wrestling match in the locker room
  • Heads cannot refuse a challenge to their position, if challenger looses they are barred for 30 minutes of another challange
  • Command slots are empty on round start.
  • First person to wrestle their way to captain by beating all other heads with an intact station "wins" by becoming the boss of the station if he survives all challenges for 10 minutes.
  • Regular antags will still be around
tl;dr, Highlander but Roman-Greco style. Wonder if Null would be up for that as some sort of joke.

Vorestation is living proof of the quality of delisted servers, it is a erp server with continuity and additional easy ways to round remove people yet their is next to no drama from what I can see on their discord (before anyone asks I’m there since sometimes I’ll throw together a metagang for paradERP and vore is the only appropriately degenerate server you won’t get instantly bwoinked for this). aside from that I found that bungalow and voidcrew are significantly better than listed servers, my guess is delisted servers never had a significant enough population of tiders settle there for the mods to listen to them whether from being newer servers or being hidden from surface level tourists.

> Fantasy
Admins brag about banning people who are the left of Mao, openly have a self professed antifa member on there who keeps getting unbanned (despite) harrassing everyone they can in and out of the community. (Accusing the frontier devs of hiring some small time famous internet politician for dev work because he happened to have the same name). He also regularly attempts doxing community members.
Also had an admin who disrespected a dead community member & banned his friends because he didnt like their personnel beliefs.
Sure though, just a fantasy.
Someone mentioned this in a DNF restoration thread on /v/ about /tg/station. I believe it.

Space station 13's hero has emerged, youtuber Livrah is now hosting his own servers where you can do pretty much anything aside from harass and dox people IRL.
Servers are absolute dogshit right ow hardware wise but are being upgraded shortly.
Dead already?

Whatever. Vorestation still a thing?
