First order of business is making Box the default station until we start getting 25 players per game. The trannies totally replaced Box with Ice Box but Ice is objectively fucking worse as a map. I don't understand the logic and I'm not sure there is any.
/vg/ has packed if you want a super small map.

This is some of the key changes made
Cloning removal: https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/pull/48668
'Wounds': https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/pull/50558
'Wounds p2': https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/pull/51786

This one is silly but a spiteful thing TG changed:
Felinids no longer being poisoned by cocoa: https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/pull/48066

also if there's a git repo for the current code, can I get a link
Again, why are we not using /vg/ code? It even has surgery along with cloning.

Here's the shockingly bad thing about /tg/'s new medical. I'm not against removing cloning, nor am I against wounds as a concept. The problem is that healing someone now takes forever and no one knows what to do.

I have worked an innumerable number of hours in medbay as CMO and as chemist. I know the plumbing system better than anyone else and I can speedrun a setup that presses Oxandrolone / Salbutamol / Salicylic Acid pills in under 15 minutes, satisfying medical needs for the entire round. One of those pills and you would go from supercrit to full health. Plumbing is what made chemistry fun to do.

Then wounds got added and now chemistry is fucking useless. You cannot mend flesh wounds with chemicals but you can surgically repair someone to full health - it just takes 5 minutes per person. The genius trannies added organ damage from death, so a dead body starts to decay, but that just makes it take even longer to fully heal a person as you must now SLOWLY replace all their fucking insides with cybernetics too. There are things chemists can do to help but I have literally never seen a game where the chemicals to stop organ damage and increase operation speed are actually applied.

Further, to stop organ decay and unintended damage during surgery, most people choose to operate on stasis beds. Problem with that: Stasis beds have a negative speed modifier and stop chemical processes. This is good when you want to stop someone dying from toxin damage, but it also completely eradicates the need for chemistry because even if I make my medical pills, they do not process while the patient is receiving help.

Oldest system: Put in cryotube or clone. Boring.
Old system: Make magic patch press, put magic patch on hardsuit, dead guy is full HP in 30 seconds. If they're already dead, do enough surgery to bring them back first.
New system: Drag to medbay, strip naked (or suffer penalties), strap to stasis bed (or their organs decay), fix to full hp, try to rez but their heart already died, replace most their organs, and they're limping out of medbay with several problems that got overlooked 10 minutes later.

It's just so annoying, so pointless, so anti-fun, and I firmly believe this is why /tg/ is losing a ton of players. It's because when you die, you are a ghost and you are bored. You want to come back. If your respawn timer is 10 fucking minutes, why even bother? The number of people I see who disconnect mid-surgery while being revived is way higher now than it was before. You never saw it before.

Yesterday I learned how to do surgery to turn someone into a robot, then I decided to learn my first job in shaft miner and have got some cool loot and managed to fuck around with it and have some fun.

Special thanks to the admin who took the time to guide me through which gear to pick up and where to go, pretty much single-handedly taught me the job and I've only really been playing for like 2 days. My only real issue is that dying is pretty boring most of the time unless I get to be a sweet free golem.

Anyway I'm pretty surprised I've been having an absolute blast aside from the aforementioned being dead and sitting around doing nothing for 30 or 40 minutes sometimes.

It's not broken, the coders™ are busy™ collecting feedback™.

To whoever was the monkey eating from kitchen, I'm sorry I tried to kill you with a chainsaw. I didn't realize players could be monkey.
Me neither! I tried to shoot the monkey only to be mercilessly beaten by my own revolver.

SS13 looks like garbage. You really will have to be more specific.
Every single thing is horrific and ugly and is just generally painful to the eye. /tg/'s spritework is so clean and nice by comparison.

Is there any way sprites/code can be transferred between the two?
Because really what I care about is features. If kiwistation offers more than /vg/, I’ll join but otherwise why hold my nose regarding tg’s worst aspects?

For starters, the guys running /tg/ and working on it are extremely communicative so far even though they probably don't want us associated with their codebase. I've had no issues setting it up and getting it running that someone wasn't willing to guide me through. They have a ton of server administration tools and I have no idea of /vg/ has anything similar.

I can mod shit out of /tg/ and I plan to. I mean it sucks you personally prefer X over Y but I'm not going to reformat the entire server just for you. Sorry dude. Sucks you won't be playing with us, no idea if the server will even last a week, but I'm giving it a shot with what I know and like.

It's pretty fun so far. Thanks for setting it up Null.

In case someone else runs into this: I had a problem getting BYOND to start, with it being stuck at "Loading live games from BYOND hub".

Turns out that it uses the fucking Internet Explorer to run. The solution was activating IE through Windows Features and setting all zone levels under security to default.

IE is mandatory. All UIs use it. It's just HTML.

While I can respect the fact you have a preference for a particular flavor of SS13 (I think we all do), I do hope ultimately you reconsider. Game mechanics can influence someone's enjoyment, but playing with people you enjoy the company of is more important, IMO. You and "Da Boys" can have a wonderfully fun night playing a game with dumb rules or a bad video game because everyone works together to make it fun.

I'm super glad to read this, half the fun of having a Kiwi server would be to personalize it. At this point is it just the determination to make some changes, or do you have any fleshed out ideas you'd be willing to share?

Are the odds high that I can get a low impact role to be a retard in if I play the video game?
Anything not command staff is safe to play with.

Mostly fixing medical and research. That's a lot of work though. I'd really like to but I dunno how to like, drum up a player base for the server. I'd really like 50 consistent players but I realize that's probably a big ask considering for ss13.
