The strength and weightlifting competitions that he could dominate with such a heavy skeleton with the supportive musculature.
He may also have eyesight that would be far beyond that of any person alive today.

That is so well put. And would explain a lot and it stands as a proper case for evolution where the specie split leads to a devolving creature.

And we can all see clearly Toms is a devolved form of human and though still a hairless ape species one of a much lesser intellect and social structure.
