Whenever the characters go off on these long-winded explanations about how they think life works or their views on things(like in this episode where Vella talks about how it’s stupid to mourn people who die and it’s just “people feeling sorry for themselves”, or thinking believing in fate is “pretending sings like that exist” and trapping yourself or whatever) is when I think the developers are actually preaching their own views, and that’s when the game feels the most pretentious and up its own ass. “Oh, I have things figured out so much better than you idiots who can’t like a game with a flawed protagonist”. Like I realize there are decent ideas in this game, but all I get out of this is the creator has a massive ego about how he views the world.

I wonder how much of this particular line of thinking was influenced by the developers' mother dying. After all, her death caused the ending to be retooled into something far more grim and depressing so I can see parts of the game being rewritten to reflect the developers' own negative reaction. I feel kinda sorry for them in that regard. There are cases of writers creating a dark or cynical piece of work following personal tragedies (Just as an example, Douglas Adams had a really bad year when he wrote the final Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy book which in turn led to a depressing final entry in what's otherwise a goofy lighthearted series).

Not that it excuses the game from being as verbose or up its own ass or anything; at the end of the day it's still a badly written game and no amount of sympathy is gonna change that. It's just when you consider the developers' personal tragedies, the game starts to make a little more sense as to why it is the way it is.
 
They all talk about Doug responding early on, essentially good on him for being a good sport, and Madoka Magica gets name dropped again and I'm fuckin goin nuts because I never thought I would hear that mentioned more than once

He gets this upset over Chris' (highly accurate) imitation and the Lightbringer stuff, so I can only imagine how mad he'd be if he knew about the shit Cory said about him and Iron Liz in the Dragon's Dogma videos.

He moved away from it creatively and emotionally? Doesn't seem like much of the latter since he's still acting like a child. Honestly, an adult would have just ignored it and moved on if he didn't like it. It's not like he called your mother a hamster or anything.
 
Because whenever i accidently saw something with Linkara, it wasn't like i always heard his stupid "I'M A MAAAAN!" phrase repeatedly.

This is why Linkara does these spergouts, for reactions like the first and second one but there's more people like the third response where they're telling them that he's still a public figure and can be ridiculed if he's gonna keep having spergouts

Linkara's still a bitch, and I don't see him ever changing his tone and continuing to bring more "harassment" towards him just so he can hide behind people clutching pearls
