so the sign up for the overwatch 2 beta is up

i still think making it 5vs5 is a mistake.

So everything's cybernetic except for her head and fingers? Maybe her torso? Is she literally 3/5ths of a person?

Why do black women in vidya always have white hair? Is it because white/asian developers only see black women in a fantasy environment, not in real life?

I'm glad her design is completely generic. You can't even tell what her character would do. Probably a tank because "muh strong black woman" and they do not have a Tank of Color unless you count Winston. It's clear the real talent has fled the game. Sigma and Baptiste were shit designs as well. Echo was something they had left over from concept art. OW2 will be more fun as a trainwreck than actually playing it. All their stupid attempts to add "adventure" content to this game just seem like Blizzard not knowing what a team FPS is so they're trying out things that would work in Diablo or Warcraft.

From a competitive stand point it could work and begin to encourage players to rely heavily more on coordination and communication between them. As well as staying alive during the match, unlike 6v6, if a team get put into a 5v6 they can still push on and hold down a point to stall the enemy team while giving the player respawning more time to travel from spawn to the fight. While a 5v4 is instant punishment all because they got the med pick on you.

But I still agree that 5v5 is possibly a big mistake at best in casual it'll ramp up more of the "toxicity" god I fucking hate that word if SonicXAmyLover2008 isn't pulling his weight he'll probably be met with alot of verbal abuse for refusing to even pick another class to try and help with the team.

I'm pretty sure they said she'd be damage but correct me if I am wrong on that.

See at least Sigma and Baptiste still had some form of thought put in them, but Sojourn is clearly a "put this in so the fanbase shuts the fuck up about our racial quota"

OW2 won't be any fun at all. Single tank, with most tank class reps being more like damage characters with extra health, support having to orbit damage retards going too far, more chokepoint maps with one less damage sponge to try and break through, no reliable way to fight Bastion with Sombra, Bastion with more mobility and a smaller hitbox.

Oh and they had promised PvE focus for OW2, but we get PvP shit to test? PvE was the only fun thing we were expecting and we're getting none of it except the tired and done Archives maps because they're so "hard at work" with OW2 they can't do shit for Archives.

People are getting tired of all the woke identity politics BS that coming out of ActiBlizz and all western developers in general. But of course it is the """gaming""" media journos hyping the "Yass Kween Slay" nonsense about Soujourn. It is all about race and gender and nothing about the gameplay elements this character will bring to the meta.

I swear, a lot gamers seeking a hero shooter devoid of such ideological propaganda might just migrate to Gundam Evolution because the cast is entirely composed of robots.

Didn't you know? She's bringing POC and marginalized groups to the attention of gamers! That's her contribution to the meta!

Baptiste and sigma were visually uninteresting but especially Bap was a strong character that was fun to play. After the CD abuse that was doomfist it was great to see a hero that rewarded aiming. My problem is that it made my prior fave Zen even less of an option due to first and ball making life hard. Echo was a cool take on spy (and OP) but should be the last character added period, as once you have somebody whose ability is to become a different hero they've exhausted ideas. Compared to f2p MOBAs there aren't too many heroes but for a class based shooter 30+ is pushing it, this is a hybrid so take my complaint with a grain of salt.

There's not enough clickbait videos in the world to sum up how hard Blizz fumbled the ball on this IP, and a sequel that looks optimized for a mobile port isn't going to solve their issues. The base game is fantastically under 30GB in 2022 and has had little for performance issues in its 6 year run but on the other hand, to play with people who aren't a sleep at the wheel you gotta play competitive, and then deal with the ragers and such, not being able to pick a game mode (2CP gets old real fast in succession, when KOTH is goat), the debatable forced 50, and the overall frustrating mechanics that adding new ults that don't really have unique callouts. I'm sure MOBA players are able to rewire their brain, but for anybody who played a lot near launch the new threat of a ball ult and a revamped torg ult doesn't really have a reaction outside of vacating the point.

oh yeah, 5v5 is awful. The few really fun times was bringing people I knew IRL into squads of shitposters from online and watching the fire rise. I already felt bad for the 7th person who couldn't join, now its the 6th. New maps could be fun but focusing on map design alone is where this game falls hard. There are clear issues with Paris and instead they just don't include it in comp

Design fault in Overwatch.

Not all classes are equally fun and have the same impact on the game. Like a healer isn't fun to play if you have no tanks or teammates are retards. There's really no reason to play healer besides it being enforced by the meta.

Unlike games like DotA where support offers more than just healing, in OW you are literally just a heal bot.

Same for tanks/DPS and why the meta is failing. DPS don't offer a counter to heals, and tanks simply are more efficient from heals, there's no overheal mechanic, so it's just a numbers game.

KOTH is goat
Nothing more fun than the retarded ways you can stall or steal back a point. I'm sure my win/loss rate with "Mei saves the day" plays is exactly 50/50 but I laughed my ass off each and every time. Busan is a dogshit map though. Enormous points making most of the ults useless, retarded sightlines making Widow even more OP, and confusing cul-de-sac designs to top it off.

Legitimately just fix this by giving each player a self heal on a timer that they can also toss to a teammate. Then just balance around a limited number of heals. The idea of a "healer class" only came about because MMOs were based on dumb and gay ancient tabletop rules that don't apply to a team FPS game and probably shouldn't even apply to MMOs. For the women and sissies who want to play a non-combat class in a non-combat game, do something with shields. Brigitte's design is the one post-launch decision I completely loved. She should've been a launch character.

Sperging even more on the MMO mindset, would mass rez have ruined the game for a solid [however long it was] if an MMO designer hadn't been in charge of Overwatch? There's no reason for Mercy to exist and even less reason for mass rez to exist, but that's the mentality MMO players have. Kaplan wanted mass rez in Overwatch because he would've loved the mechanic in EverQuest. The single worst thing in an MMO is a raid wipe but in Overwatch you're losing 5-15 minutes not 5-15 hours. I don't even like the single rez they changed it to because I have no way to refuse it. It was annoying as fuck when I realized I needed to change heroes to counter but here comes Mercy to slap that rez button.

The shittiest thing is Overwatch has mostly great character design and could easily be a top-tier game under competent leadership. The competition is dumb shit like Fortnite and Apex Legends. But it'll never happen at Blizzard. We just need the TF2 hat whales to die off so we can get a TF3.

Why do black women characters in video games and comics always look like grumpy, mean bruisers? Why can’t they look like Beyoncé or Janet Jackson?
Something Something Male Gaze is my best guess.

Swear to Christ, these people have to be miserable and make everyone around them miserable.

That or they’re still annoyed that the most popular thing about Overwatch is the Porn, and are purposefully making the females 6/10’s at most in response to it.

That's not exclusive to the portrayal of black women, It is an endemic trend because of woke ideological reasons, main one being classical beauty standards and femininity are offensive to trannies hence why most modern portrayal of women in Western games look like ugly mutants.

the problem isn't the mass rez, but that there's no counter to it. it's like putting a char into the game that can snipe through walls from spawn - how would you combat this, where is the balance? and that was always the biggest issue, you can get away with stealing shit wholesale if you know what to do with it and make it fit, but again, this is blizzard which couldn't do that when they were on top. the current f-tier devs will fuck the game even harder.

or, you know battleborn or gigantic, which were all better games than overwatch, but didn't have the marketing and waifu factor, which is all that matters. worse, it attracts the same kind of player WoW does who aren't MMO material but still want to play the same game "everybody else plays and everyone is talking about".
the "market" doesn't want a good game, people want a popular game that looks nice and is braindead enough every mouthbreather can play it.

LawBreakers also died very quickly, for similar reasons. And Paladins is still a miniscule game, even though it managed to survive, while Battleborn and LawBreakers died.

Overwatch Clone Nr 348 and Overwatch Clone Nr 351 died because they came too early and didn't offer anything new. Most of them assumed they'd release this game nobody knew/cared about and then people would just ditch Overwatch for no reason and move onto them. The only reason Paladins survived was because it was poor people Overwatch. Out of those, only Gigantic offered something different; a weird combination between MOBA and hero shooter. If they would have released in the past 3 months, a lot of people would migrate from Overwatch to them.

Most of them died because they wanted to go for the games-as-a-service/permanently online model.

battleborn was a fps moba, gigantic was third person moba in the vein of paragon. overwatch is literally brink 2.0 (same lopsided balance, same chokepoint maps, and brink wasn't based around pressing Q to win) with waifus trying to be team fortress 2.
there was plenty of distinction in gameplay, let alone balance and design (like battleborn having integrated pve maps long before blizzard even though of that and coming off the borderlands hype). the problem is you only got one shot at making a good impression, and as much as I liked the games later on it wasn't that great (like gigantic being a windows 10 exclusive way too early and battleborn being mismanaged, not to mention retard randy's antics).

same can be said for lawbreakers (see cliffyb) and as the other two (and plenty of other games as well) being unable to adapt to lower player numbers to grow from there. half the time you literally couldn't play those games even if you wanted to.

Most of them died because they wanted to go for the games-as-a-service/permanently online model.
same as destiny and overwatch then?

But they all pretty much tried to be the next 'Overwatch Killer' I guess and tried to steal Overwatch's audience to follow a trend.

They were distinct, but pretty much everyone settled for a hero shooter/MOBA at that time and didn't switch, so nobody ended up playing those games.

Oh you mean the two games that are being necro-kept alive by Activision?
