Palworld - Everything you have ever wanted from a Pokemon game

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
So bad news guys the server will be down for a day. My truenas instance finally died. Luckily I just found a cheap IBM z14 mainframe on the side of the road. I've been working out more lately, so carrying it up into my creeky old attic should be pretty easy. Should have it installed by the end of the day. Worried about the power supply and cooling requirement, but I've got 20A on a circuit and a 900W UPS. Plus heat rises right?

I haven't played since before the update that allegedly fixed building, how much better is it now?

The vanilla building is eh, it did get a little better with some patching, but it's still too limited imo.

I would recommend this mod. It's an easy install, works like a charm, and it also works on every server I've tried it on, even if it's not installed on the sever end.

Suddenly the floating sky continent makes sense.

My god, that could be exploited to the extreme. I wonder when griefers are going to figure that one out.

Really seems to be a toss up what works and what doesn't without a server side install. Certain values (like those that dictate when and where you can build) seem to be client side, while others (like base count and weight) are strictly server side and can cause client side or even server wide issues. For example, weight mods may show you that you're not overburdened, but if it isn't installed on the server, you will constantly be snapped back into place to correct movement speed.

I'm fairly certain ones like the building mod can even skirt around Palguard, which is the current anticheat server owners can install. One particularly malicious one that can be used without Palguard (and I'm almost certain it could work with it enabled but haven't tested it) is this particular mod: More BaseCamp Levels
(Browser isn't letting me make hyperlinks atm)

If this mod is not installed on a server, but the user has it installed, it can be used to crash a server at will. Once you hit BaseCamp Lv 21 on an uninstalled server, you can can crash a server, AT WILL, doing the following:
-Attempting to make a new base, even if you have less than 3
-Attempting to add another player to the 21+ guild

I've learned most of this trying to figure out how to set up a balanced pvp server (protip: good fucking luck if you can't write mods yourself), and my word is it insane how easy it is to just install a mod and go buckwild. A group of 3-5 griefers could easily fuck up a bunch of the currently available Community servers in about 30 minutes each with like 10 minutes of installing mods and a bit of practice. It's kind of incredible how easy it is.

Anyone else hatch a late-game pal from an egg and put it on permanent ingot duty, or is it just me?
Ingot, no. Cake, yes. You need a Pal with a minimum of 3 in Kindling (+ the building that increases kindling for base Pals) to bake cakes at a faster rate than the breeding farm consumes them. If you can't find or catch a Jormungtide Ignis your best bet is putting going to the Mt. Obsidian area at night and pick up every large/huge scorching egg you can find and hope you hatch a Ragnahawk/Blazehowl/Reptyro or Faleris/Suzaku/Blazamut.

Or just run two ovens.

Big update.

This is a hell of an update! Some of the fixes and additions are exactly what I was hoping would be added.

I'm actually really excited for this update. No longer will I have to throw pals and pray they don't wander from their workstation to go do literally anything but what I want them to do
