You didn't have to remind me of that

Because they didn't cuck out on the name, this is probably the first major game in a long time I am excited for.

Playing an ultra-reactionary country with obscenely high birth rates, extreme racism and state religion is pretty fun.

Generalist has probably most in depth look at the game so far. I really appreciate how the countries are more customizable through the tech tree eras and stuff like centralization. Reminds me of good ol EU3.

I thought Vicky 3 didn't represent ethnicity let alone culture like Vicky 2?

They added a racism/bigotry patch. You have a tolerance tier list for different ethnicities and religions in your country. Pops higher up on the list have an easier time getting educations, get higher wages, and can work more jobs.

Being bigoted actually work well in some contexts. State religion boosts your majority religions wages and decreases the wages of heathens. However, you can bump up less accepted groups through conversion. Ethnostate still does not have much benefit though. Catholicism's political group gives +10% birthrate if the group is influential so playing a Catholic dictatorship Bavaria that unified Germany created the most OP country ever.

Funny thing is that State Atheism works exactly like State Religion.

I love eu4 I love eu4 I love eu4, cant wait to sink 10k hours into eu5
Ill have to see if i wanna pirate it or just pay for the steam version and pirate the dlc.

so far eu5 looks... decent. better than vicky 3. they'll probably flesh it out into a truly great game with the 10 million dlcs.

i hope it allows you to strategize the hell out of the game and stack insane modifiers

i hope it allows you to overstrategize the hell out of the game and stack insane modifiers (provided proper setup, of course)
See what im worried about is, will they hold out on all the old dlc content and features from eu4 and make them DLC, or will they do what is theoretically the morally right thing and integrate/convert those dlc features and mechanics into the base game of EU5

Appearently they were trying to avoid modifier stacking, but its still possible

i imagine what they add won't be a straight-up copy from eu4 given that it's a whole new game. some features here and there will maybe be dlc-only (and vice versa), overall a wash.

my guess is that initially modifier stacking will be limited, but its potential will grow as the new dlcs are added

I mean yeah of course some stuff cant be directly copied over, but lore and content stuff, like events, can theoretically be brought over. Its just a question of if Paradox will respect its players.

Oh yeah as DLC's come out, the game is gonna get more and more cheesed. Normal paradox as usual.

I'm gonna piss on everyone's parade and remind you all the last decent launch was CK2 and everything since has been a DLC riddled conga line of shit only made edible by mods, Graveyard of Empires was just the most recent; member Leviathan?
Do not give them any money, never under any circumstances ever, if you must acquire a legitimate copy do via grey market resellers or something (I like fanatical), we are not going to get a decent competitor to pdox if retards keep giving them money.

The problem is not that Paradox makes money. The problem is that nobody makes decent grand strategy games.

AGEOD games are absolute dogshit.

Im kinda thinking of buying the base game on steam, just for the data and folder and update infrastructure, and then Ill pirate the DLC's
