What are your expectations for the EU5 release?

Tinto Talks has returned and today's is in Multiplayer:
  • Previously the AI ran on the host's PC only, this was complex and EU5 is too complex for that, so now the AI runs synced across all players.
  • When a player goes out of sync you have the same options as before, resync, ignore, continue without player, or end game. Hotjoining is also present.
  • Host can set the file transfer speed for mp and the max amount of ticks that a player can lag behind before the game is auto paused
  • Host decides game rules
  • Missions are disabled by default for mp, I guess they're a gamerule
  • There is an mp gamerule that hides some ledger info, making it harder to know your enemies stats

How popular is the multiplayer for Paradox games? It honestly sounds like a nightmare. Either you have to deal with somebody pausing all the time or have it fixed to tick three to make the game not take forever and having to deal with your fuckups.

Honestly you HAVE to play it with friends, randoms are impossible unless you have unlimited free time.
My friend, his brother, and I have managed to complete 1 game of Stellaris and 3/4 of a game of CK2 in the six or so years I've been pressuring them to play.
Was it more fun with them? Absolutely but, just like with table top RPGs, I found myself more frustrated lining up our schedules than I enjoyed the game with them.

I dream of a KF HOI4 multiplayer gamenight.

The three or four times I had done multiplayer CK2 with friends was always a blast :feels:
I once played a game of CK2 multi with guys I had met after just starting college, all three of us in the HRE. They were both shocked I had managed to become Duke of Transjura as the starting Habsburg count in the first few years. They were too busy trying to seduce each other's wives to think of saving up money to buy mercs.

I was in a match as the Byzantines, somehow I had conquered one of my friends, and I was being pretty merciful and let him be a vassal king in Jerusalem, all the while another friend was playing some Finnish tribal duke, constantly plotting against all the kings in europe for fun. This goofy fucker playing the Finnish duke eventually started plotting against me while I wasn't paying attention, and killed my Emperor characters not once, not twice, but three times before I figured out who was killing me. (:_(

I don't play multiplayer because it is indeed a nightmare but seems super popular in HoI4. I watch Spudgun Victoria 2 mp series and multiplayer seems live there. I hear new people all the time with reoccurring characters. You would probably need to join some discords or something.

yeah there's this guy on a strategy gaming discord that constantly shills for an obscure HoI2 mod that crashes every time i try to play it. i told him i was interested and he hounded me for weeks afterwards. the first time i told him about the crashes he told me to "keep trying". then asked if i was able to fix the crashes. i asked him how i was supposed to fix the crashes, he told me i was trolling him and left the conversation. that's the caliber of person you're dealing with trying to play paradox games mp

The only people I've ever been able to manage to actually play a proper multiplayer game with are blood relatives sat in the same room as me, that is the level of proximity required to have it Just Work ™️
10/10 would recommend.

Enigma, a YouTuber who mainly focuses on multiplayer simulator games, uploaded a 1-hour-long interview with Chris King, the man who worked as the creative lead of Victoria II and now is the creative lead of Gilded Destiny.

While the interview was mainly about Gilded Destiny, Chris also talked about his experience with working on Victoria II. He also confirmed that Gilded Destiny is designed to be a spiritual successor to Victoria II.

Overall, it's a pretty solid interview.

Xe tried.

Lolwut. A focus pack for a single country, that gets eaten 2 years into probably 99% of games, and that has literally nothing to do with the rest of the theme of the pack.
