Piece of shit software - Crappy software/apps/programs that make you MATI

Holy shit dude I am in the same boat. I don't understand why it's so fucking hard to just keep their util tools simple.
I think part of the problem is they're trying to keep them simple, which in turn makes them completely fucking alien to any other computer programme.

My old chinky mouse had a utility program that was only in Chinese and it was so much easier to create macros on that compared to Corsairs bullshit because the chinky programme was set out in a way a person who is computer literate could instinctively understand.

My guess is Canonical went to the EFF and said "We'll give you money if you use our crappy 'packaging' format."

Still the Python version and other alternatives like acme.sh at least.
Didn't acme.sh have a scandal of sorts? Apparently some feature if used would run random scripts from a remote server https://github.com/acmesh-official/acme.sh/issues/4659. I know there's dehydrated as alternative acme client, but certbot is by far the easiest pain free method. Debian backports still have the non snap version in the repos at least.

Seems that the usual retards are whining. I was bored and wanted to check and see what certbot issues said about snaps and this was the first ticket.

And yes, my personal webserver is still running Debian's certbot package.

I want to say modern Windows but that's low hanging fruit so I'll say Finder. What a god awful piece of shit Apple has turned Finder into. It was easier to navigate and use back in the Panther days which is obscene considering how much polish Panther lacked, yet somehow Finder just progressively gets worse.

If you have to use a Mac download Marta and forget Finder even exists.

At my job they use monitoring software to keep tabs on employees machines and stop shit like boomers installing viruses because of a complete lack of common sense and people browsing facebook and twitter. This is normal and I can understand it, these are not personal machines they are company machines.

The problem is that the fucking piece of shit software they use this for this, Trend Micro, is pretty much a extremely aggressive spyware. The biggest problem is that it slows the fuck out of the machines to the point they constantly stop being usable. It is faster for me to boot up a virtual machine with a Debian install and open up a browser on that to go on the internet than it is to start the browser on native windows 10 and open google. This is beyond fucking insanity it makes no sense. It takes on average 145 seconds to open Microsoft Office Word (I timed it) when you open it the first time on a boot up, and if you close it and open again it will still take about a full minute.

Opening the task manager likewise takes over 25 seconds, and once open it takes a further 15 seconds for it to actually load the shit it needs to show. Despite only giving the VM 3gbs of Ram it runs much better than windows with the 5gbs it has left, and of course the actual machine is constantly hogging the fuck out of ALL resources. Constantly the HDD usage will reach absolute maximum and over 95% of the ram (Even with the VM closed which in theory should free up the ram it still rests above 85% which means the fucker is using all memory it can take). This shit has to be mining crypto there is no other sensible explanation for why this fucking spyware needs to be so heavy.

And God have mercy if this shit decides it wants to do a "deep scan" I might as well get up from my chair and wander the office for half an hour as the entire thing stop crawling to just drop dead as the software proceed to (I assume) individually check every single bit and transistor on this fucking machine for God knows what.

Jdownloader
In my experience JDownloader 2 is the best download manager around, while at the same time being pretty shit. You have to be aware to go to the /jdownloader2 subsite to get the adware free installers, the "J" stands for "Java" so it's slow as shit, the official browser extension requires an account just to send downloads from the browser to JD2, Cloudflare's fuckery has been breaking a lot of sites, but at the same time I don't know any other download manager that has parallel downloading, account support, and a Captcha helper where you just paste a link to a warez download site and JD2 does all of the hard work for you.

You don't need to look for the one download button that's not fake, you don't have to deal with redirects, you can add an Internet Archive account and download shit from there at full speed with inline downloading so that it's actually viable to download games and shit from there, you can deep scan a website if you want to mass grab JPEGs or some other shit, and unless there is another free alternative that has those capabilities that's not Free Download Manager which was distributing malicious Debian packages for years, it really is the best. Even Internet Download Manager is lacking in some regards, and that's paid.

By the way, can someone explain to me why they hate us so much?

3 year necro, but I'll explain. Y-Up Right handed is the default for OpenGL, where it follows camera space projection of x and y being right and up on a 2d plane looking straight and z being the depth, hence the name of a z-buffer (depth buffer). DirectX uses a left handed coordinate system, since its old and at the time 3d software used left handed for some reason. This means that you always need to flip the Y axis when converting shaders or textures between DirectX and OpenGL, or else you get things mirrored on the Y axis, this is also why there are two different types of normal maps in DirectX and OpenGL formats.

Z-Up is what CAD software uses, because it makes more sense if you think of the scene as a blueprint on a table, and you look down upon it with x and y being the 2d space, then z becomes the 3d depth coming upwards. It makes a lot more sense for games IMO, especially for brush based engines like Source and the Quake lineage as the level editors are essentially just CAD. The reason Unreal is Z-up left handed is because Tim Sweeney was a retard and mixed up his matrix math and never bothered to fix it ever.

It's a good program but the waifu edition is huge compared to the regular program even though the functionality is identical.

At least they don't use shitty compression for artwork. Windows 10, 11 allwas compress to low quality jpeg and it is noticeable.
I admit I have it installed. It is a novelty thing. It even works on my Athlon XP with Windows XP Sp3.

I like their wallpapers. They are beautiful, not degenerate and come in really high resolutions and adapted even for 4:3.

Apparently Outlook is employing a politically correct software to 'curate' all emails.

No longer can you say 'mankind' and 'master'. Now you say 'humankind' and 'white craka piece of shit'.
? What if you use Thunderbird.
I had to use outlook account given by the school, but I considered unusable the Outlook program. Should have added it to my list.

100% agree. I've tried to use several other programs but Jdownloader just works. Its one of several pieces of software I keep an untouched zip of for my software backup.
Software I'm truly tired of is Gradio, I have an intense disliking of modern software. I just want something that works offline with a simple bat or exe. This point and click development style has killed any meaningful progress in computing tech. Forced online connection for a basic windows reinstall so I can have sound. Really it's just trying to force all their trash on me that I have to spend 2 days in regedit and task manager, hunting their latest spyware.

Microsoft changed the form of Windows as a legal product years ago, now it's a service. So yeah, it's all always online because it is designed with online services in mind. If you don't like it, your other option is something like a Debian DVD that hopefully has all the drivers for your hardware that work. And if it doesn't, you'll still need to connect to Debian servers to pull them.

Alternatively you can just download all the necessary drivers as offline installers, because you can still do that, you can go to the motherboard/laptop manufacturer's site, download the drivers and install them the traditional way. You don't need an Internet connection to have sound, no one is taking that ability away from you.

I don't know what you're expecting nowadays, everything is being distributed online, because not only does it save cost, it simplifies distribution of updates and small components like drivers. As soon as the Internet became viable that became the go-to way to distribute this for a reason. Tiny things that change constantly and would be a waste of time, money and resources to constantly distribute offline every time because someone refuses to connect their machine to the Internet.

Or you can use something like WinUtil to do a one click job that does all of that for you instead of trying to find it manually on your own. Look, I get it, you want to be super duper independent from everything and everyone, but even Ted Kaczynski and Randy Weaver had to rely on others to get by. Don't be so stubborn. You can keep offline copies of all the necessities without going balls to the wall "I hate depending on others" because that's just counterintuitive.

I absolute loathe niche business software. Its all ancient vendor locked dog shit that from an administration standpoint is a massive pain in the ass to use.

Oh you want to export your list of users into csv? Well fuck you because you cant export users!
Want to make batch changes? Well fuck you all changes must be made one at a time account by account!

Its not about being independent. Its about control over the stuff I buy. If I was going for the Ted K angle I wouldn't use a PC. I use linux in VMs and whatnot, but for daily driving Windows just works. Don't get me started on trying to do any sort of meaningful audio production in linux. My first system was a 286 with DOS it was a pain but at least you could tinker with it. Just like people complain about c/c++, Its a user problem not a software issue. The dumbing down of tech is why everything is so bland, now that it has become so ubiquitus in everyone's life it has to be. Look at the retards that think Elon Musk is the Omnisiah.

Pieces of shit software: Samsung Galaxy Store & VMware Hub

Got a new work phone today, Samsung Galaxy S23, and this piece of shit software keeps installing games and I can't find how to opt out of this. It's installed like 15 apps and I keep deleting them and then it installs some other Bonzi Buddy looking game.

Copying over my data from my old S20 to the new phone was a pain in the ass, setting up the phone was a pain in the ass, then VMware Hub made me wipe the phone and restart because it wasn't enrolled.

Never buy a Samsung phone or use one for work.
