Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

So this stumbled into my feed. And it’s right.

There’s also a comment on the video that breaks down how Cynthia’s team was not only good but reflected her character and basically required ger to do pretty much everything in the game to obtain it.

SV could have really done with having Geeta have a team like that. One because you can relatively easily put such a team together and two because it speaks to her absurdly skilled Nimona is whose badically veen billed as as a Pokemon genius by everyone since you meet and the youngest to beat Geeta iirc. And Geta was gassed up by everyone. And she even looks like she took design cues from Cynthia.

Pikachu is the worst IMO. The tail has extra parts and the cheek is coalescing into his right eyeball.

XY, full stop. You can tell they were planning on having the Zygarde forms in that game until the third game was killed based on how they were blatantly shoehorned in for SM.
It gets worse than that. Remember Battle Bond Greninja? There is no way that wasn't planned for Z. Even worse, there is a Pokemon in every Gen 6 and 7 game that is completely unreleased, a similar alternative form of a Pokemon but it's a Floette. It's actually the same one you see at the end of XY that approaches AZ, except it has stronger stats and a whole unique move that goes unused when send in battle compared to the regular form. There were BIG plans for Z but Gamefreak was too busy making shitty games like "Dumbo the BADASS Elephant" to care since they were all burned out. They figured that the anime and Sun/Moon would fill in the gaps for planned content nicely and they would release a few shitty, forgettable games in the meantime so they DON'T HAVE TO WORK ON POKEMON ANYMORE. When is Nintendo going to get the hint and hire a new studio, or at least let them alternate every year like Call of Duty devs do with IW/Treyarch/Sledgehammer?
Oh and you know those special moves Zygarde got in Sun/Moon with the new forms? Those are 100% complete and still work in XY and ORAS so you know they were planned from day one, but at least these get used in later games unlike Light of Ruin(and similarly, the unused Fairy Gem that would have made for one hell of a Fairy wallbreaker combo if used. In Gen 7 you could even take it a step further and use a Z crystal to get a one-time nuke and avoid recharge until next time it was used)

Honestly they shoukd have just released Z later after taking time off and then got to working on S/M. Anime for Gen 9 came out way after the games. GF are probably in a position where they could actually take time and their releases would be a bit more fleshed out and also line up so it drops with the anime.

Even then it’s not like the anime can’t do spin offs or smaller stuff to cover wny gaps between a new game.

They don’t even have to cycle through game studios, just do more spin offs with the anime IP,

With Ash retired it’s not like they are even married to or restricted by certain characters anymore should dev issues ever crop up again.

My copy of Scarlet ended up borking and I lost a somewhat small amount of progress, I only ended up losing three Shinys (two Flabébés, one Orange Flower and one White Flower, and a Growlithe I accidentally caught in a Master Ball due to a case of the butterfingers).

Oh, and with The Indigo Disk drops in ~2 days I've decided to dig into some some competent teams, I'm currently looking at a mix of Orthworm and Tyranitar or Perish Song Murkrow and Shadow Tag Gothitelle.
and well they look different on the map as do 6 stars. But it’s still a needless chore.

With Tera Raids you could be looking for a Water Pokemon and actually find it in a Fire Crystal. This is not at all helpful when looking at the map. Made even worse by the fact that I don’t think the Pokemon are even restricted to areas were their evo lines spawn.

So you could end up finding what you want in a crystal of a completely different type at the complete other end of the map.

It’s completely whacky design
I think part of that is due to Dynamax Raids being a bit too predictable, each Raid Den has a normal pool and a rare pool of Pokémon it could pull from when generating a raid.

I just wish that there was a way to refresh raids outside of manipulating the clock, AFAIK SV doesn't spawn new raids when you clear the map of 'em.
I've been playing Cobblemon with a friend lately. Its still incomplete, like there are only like 450ish mons that actually have models so far and its missing Pokemon riding and breeding, but I do think it is generally better than Pixelmon. Its less buggy and the blocky renditions look so much more natural than Pixelmon's janky homemade 3d models. It also has a block that I really like that lets you store Pokemon and then they will wander around so you can make like a cute farm or zoo of your Pokemon. Pixelmon used to have this feature as part of breeding but they removed it for ??? reason.

It will be by far the better mod eventually but I do hope they steal some of Pixelmon's stuff like the Pokemon themed villages and the herds/flocks/schools whatever thing that some wild Pokemon will do where several of the same evo line will travel together.
I'm liking it so far, the only thing that I don't like about it is that it uses 1.20.1 (I really don't like the Deep Dark biome, good thing that you can turn off Warden spawns in the settings). I just hope 1.5 comes out soonish, they're going to introduce fossil 'mons in that update.

I was watching random clips again (I'll get around to watching PTS:SM at some point) and seeing two Eevee do this is really jarring
View attachment 5561155
Do they have glands back there? What do you guys think? Cursed or no?
The only thing truly cursed about that clip is the TERRIBLE differentiating haircut of that first Eevee. The fuck were they thinking, the differences in the tail patterns was enough or they could have accentuated the head fuzz to match.

SmithPlaysPokemon got some agency, his Johto hack "Pokemon Crystal Legacy" is awesome and he roasts Gen 2 so he's kinda safe from being labeled as a bitter oldfag,

Toxic Spikes Glimmora as her last pokemon, Kingambit sent in mid-battle and fucking avalugg and having the goat from Gen 6 on the team are a shame.
Especially after BDSP Cynthia and Legends Arceus Volo.

It gets worse than that. Remember Battle Bond Greninja?
Battle Bond greninja is uncanny and borderline r34 shit, it should have been banned. The backpack is also gay fyi.

Those look like FNAF abominations.

Even worse, there is a Pokemon in every Gen 6 and 7 game that is completely unreleased, a similar alternative form of a Pokemon but it's a Floette.
Fun fact, in ORAS there is a tree in Sootopolis that was given by AZ and it has Eternal Floette's flower on the right side. Also there's a hotel in X and Y that has a memory minigame and it can choose any move name, including Light of Ruin and Zygarde's unused moves. It really goes to show that gen 6 is so unfinished it's not even funny.

Silver lining: at least you got your Master Ball back, right?

We're only a few more hours away from The Indigo Disk dropping and I kind of threw away my original plan of making teams. I'm now planning on making a slapdash team consisting of different Doubles partners that could work. So far I have the following.
  • Cyclizar: I like the idea of a Shed Tail+Regenerator pivot 'mon, it's also surprisingly strong Attack-wise. Considering that mine has two 31 IVs (Attack and HP) off the bat I'll make the one I have a psysical pivot.
  • Chandelure: I loved Chandelure in Gen V but I admit that the previous Gens haven't been too kind to it, I just can't pass up on that insane 145 base Special Attack.
  • Gliscor: Another pivot 'mon that benefits from having another pivot 'mon in the team, especially one that sets up substitutes for the 'mon being swapped in. And you know if Smogon says it's broken it's worth considering.
  • Tyranitar: Considering the amount of Pokémon I'm running that are immune to Sandstorm, it's worth considering this old weather-setting staple. Not only is it somewhat bulky it's also a really good physical attacker.
  • Glimmora: This is a Pokémon that kind of caught me off-guard, not only is it a good Stealth Rock setter (freeing up a move slot for other Stealth Rock setters) but Toxic Debris really helps with whittling down HP via passive poison/toxic damage. Mortal Spin also helps with clearing my side of the field of any hazards that come into play as well.
  • Orthworm: I initially went with Orthworm due to it packing Earth Eater and a nice 145 base Defense stat but surprisingly it's also a really good Shed Tail user. With Glimmora packing Stealth Rock it also frees up Orthworm to set up Spikes.
  • Murkrow: The ever-favorite Prankster user (outside of Whimsicott and Tornadus/Thundurus). I originally considered using it to set up the ever-famous Perish Trap strategy to cheese through the DLC but I kind of realized that it was too cheesy and initially scrapped it, but after seeing its other support options I brought it back to the table.

Fucking furries.

So I finally got my hands on a physical Platinum cartridge after all these years. What was kinda funny about it was this local game thrift store place has several copies of Platinum, all about 85 bucks each (as just the cartridge itself, this is the cheapest I've seen them). Scalpers ruin fucking everything, but also just how desperate are people that several of them in the area ended up selling Platinum?

Indigo Disk is out. Will start editing new shit into spoilers.

HOME renders for every new mon:

1702518390877.png

Every single static encounter is shiny locked because fuck you I guess. Here's a github page listing every single one. I'm trying to archive it but archive.today is acting up. Sorry.
More github links to every single item and ability + flavor text, as well as every single new move. Take a full list of every transfer-only Pokémon as of now too.
Here's a link to every single new dex entry for both new and old mon... I can't copy-paste every single one because of the character limit so I'll just do the new ones that everyone cares about. Apologies.
Data for every single trainer battle... has the same problem as the dex entries.
EVERY SINGLE POKEMON'S STATS.

ABILITIES
307 Tera Shift When the Pokémon enters a battle, it absorbs the energy around itself and transforms into its Terastal Form.
308 Tera Shell The Pokémon’s shell contains the powers of each type. All damage-dealing moves that hit the Pokémon when its HP is full will not be very effective.
309 Teraform Zero When Terapagos changes into its Stellar Form, it uses its hidden powers to eliminate all effects of weather and terrain, reducing them to zero.
310 Poison Puppeteer Pokémon poisoned by Pecharunt’s moves will also become confused.

SCARLET:
1018-00 Archaludon It gathers static electricity from its surroundings. The beams it launches when down on all fours are tremendously powerful.
1019-00 Hydrapple Seven syrpents live inside an apple made of syrup. The syrpent in the center is the commander.
1020-00 Gouging Fire There are scant few reports of this creature being sighted. One short video shows it rampaging and spouting pillars of flame.
1021-00 Raging Bolt It’s said to incinerate everything around it with lightning launched from its fur. Very little is known about this creature.
1022-00 Iron Boulder It resembles a Pokémon described in a dubious magazine as a Terrakion that had been modified by an evil organization.
1023-00 Iron Crown It resembles a mysterious object introduced in a paranormal magazine as a cutting-edge weapon shaped like a Cobalion.
1024-00 Terapagos Terapagos protects itself using its power to transform energy into hard crystals. This Pokémon is the source of the Terastal phenomenon.
1024-01 Terapagos-1 Upon sensing danger, it prepares itself for battle by creating a sturdy shell of crystallized Terastal energy.
1024-02 Terapagos-2 In this form, Terapagos resembles the world as the ancients saw it, and its Terastal energy is abnormally amplified.
1025-00 Pecharunt It feeds others toxic mochi that draw out desires and capabilities. Those who eat the mochi fall under Pecharunt’s control, chained to its will.

VIOLET:
1018-00 Archaludon It digs holes on mountains, searching for food. It’s so durable that being caught in a cave-in won’t faze it.
1019-00 Hydrapple These capricious syrpents have banded together. On the rare occasion that their moods align, their true power is unleashed.
1020-00 Gouging Fire It resembles an eerie Pokémon once shown in a paranormal magazine. That Pokémon was said to be an Entei regenerated from a fossil.
1021-00 Raging Bolt It bears resemblance to a Pokémon that became a hot topic for a short while after a paranormal magazine touted it as Raikou’s ancestor.
1022-00 Iron Boulder It was named after a mysterious object recorded in an old book. Its body seems to be metallic.
1023-00 Iron Crown There was supposedly an incident in which it launched shining blades to cut everything around it to pieces. Little else is known about it.
1024-00 Terapagos It’s thought that this Pokémon lived in ancient Paldea until it got caught in seismic shifts and went extinct.
1024-01 Terapagos-1 The shell is made of crystallized Terastal energy. When struck by a move, this shell absorbs the move’s energy and transfers it to Terapagos.
1024-02 Terapagos-2 An old expedition journal describes the sight of this Pokémon buried in the depths of the earth as resembling a planet floating in space.
1025-00 Pecharunt Its peach-shaped shell serves as storage for a potent poison. It makes poisonous mochi and serves them to people and Pokémon.

Terapagos can have a gender for some reason.

I wonder if hydrapple will grow heads with its ability.
Supposedly it does this when it attacks? Not entirely certain, but it is supposed to have more heads according to people. Don't care either way honestly- the design is a bit disappointing, but I don't dislike it so I'm immediately pretty satisfied.

EDIT: Found a pic with its heads out!

EVERY SINGLE TERA RAID. I can't copy them because they're too big for the character limit. Even just the six-stars make the post editor act up.

Stellar-type Terastilization grants a one-time boost to any type of move and vanishes after that. Unless you're in a raid. Then it just lasts forever. It also gives Tera Blast a special effect: if you use Tera Blast while terastilized as a Stellar-type, the move will be super-effective against Terastilized targets and lower both their attacking stats by one level.

Various Pokedex pictures:

Iron Leaves and Walking Wake are completely unencounterable in the DLC. If you didn't get them from the event, you're fucked. Despite this, they are still in the Blueberry Academy Pokedex and necessary to complete it. Thanks, Gamefreak!

Everything is unarchived for now because archive.today seems to be down. I'll try to go back and archive everything after the fact. Images should be fine, at least.

Also, there aren't any real story spoilers in either of these posts, just stats/mon/typings/etc. That's both because I don't want to spoil the plot (I'd like to avoid being shot when it turns out like dogshit) and because there are almost no spoilers out at the moment since everyone is still playing through.

Well my team's ready for The Teal Mask, here's the lineup.
IMG_9719 copy.JPGIMG_9720 copy.JPG
I pretty much made what I planned to do but I added in Sandy Shocks since I liked the idea of bringing in an extremely dangerous Paradox Pokémon to the Blueberry Academy and I added in Fezandipiti (I know, it's a Legendary) since I felt I needed another Sp. Def pivot in the team.
  • Archaludon [Steel/Dragon]
  • Hydrapple
  • Gouging Fire
  • Raging Bolt [Dragon/Electric]
  • Iron Boulder
  • Iron Crown [Steel/Psychic]
  • Terapagos Standard Form / Terapagos Terastal Form / Terapagos Stellar Form
  • Pecharunt
Hydrapple looks amazing compared to Applin's other evolutions. Too bad it's still Grass/Dragon type.

Gouging Fire being based off of a ceratopsian dinosaur was expected but I really like this one, I was expecting GF to go the lazy route and use a triceratops but they decided to go the styracosaur route instead.

Iron Boulder is what I expected it to be, at least it doesn't look as awkward as Terrakion does.

And I called it about the final trailer hinting at a third Terapagos form and it looks like the illustration in the Scarlet/Violet Book. Shame about the Shiny form being unavailable.

Pecharunt is really interesting, I can see what the leaks mention about it being similar to the Tapus. That said the scared expression on its face just makes it look laughable compared to The Loyal Three.

Biomes being upgradable and the starters being locked behind said upgrades was something I expected.

Supercell Slam is interesting but it's another case of GF retooling a previously-seen move, it has the exact same effect as High Jump Kick and its base power is the same as Gen IV High Jump Kick too.

And fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck GF for making the static encounters Shiny-locked, I was hoping to find the Past Paradox Beasts in Shiny form. Oh well, I guess they'll probably end up like the Galarian Bird Trio did and end up as participation prizes for the yearly online VGC tournaments.

Meloetta being the catchable Mythical is a bit of a letdown, I was expecting Genesect.

So 10 minutes into the DLC and I have already headcanoned that my MC hates being here and wants to deck everyone for being beyond annoying…

Christ this is cliche.

And I swear one of the elites was just stolen from an anime in terms of design.

I was watching random clips again (I'll get around to watching PTS:SM at some point) and seeing two Eevee do this is really jarring

Do they have glands back there? What do you guys think? Cursed or no?

They're checking to see if it's time to make eggs.
